Hello, 

 

Apart from some specific requisitions, like improving the keep, I was wondering if the rest of them do anything other than giving you power?

 

e.g. the first requisition to collect material to create swords for the solders, should I pay attention to the description or could I just read how much power it gives?

At first glance it seems to be a way to help the Inquisition. That's a Red Herring. It is a game mechanic for farming power and that's all it is besides a way to waste scarce resources early in the game. Later, in camp, when the Requisition Officer says, "I have a report," just say, "Not right now," if you want to keep it out of your quest journal.
