Does anyone else feel that DAI has too many abilities recycled from the previous Dragon Age games?

I'm talking about abilities like Twin Fangs Exploding Shot Might Blow Mind Blast Walking Bomb etc etc. One of the reasons I'm not enjoying DAI's combat as much is because everything feels like "been there, done that." I think even the icons are the same.

I think I'm feeling it the most with the Warrior class, but certainly all the classes seem to be constructed of active abilities I've already used quite a bit in previous games.

Some of those feel pretty iconic. They were in DA:O (not twin fangs though). They were in DA2. What's so strange about them being here as well? The abilities are familiar, but also somewhat different.

I kind of have to agree, I actually think they got just the right amount of "Iconic Abilities" and "New shiny stuff" in this game. I mean, Winter's Grasp is still OP, and that's just fine with me. Now, when you look at warriors, they are drastically different. Yea sure, some of the abilities are the same, but their amount of new stuff is quite large.

I have to admit I don't get your point. It's like saying "wow, in ME3 there's still biotic/tech/soldier powers from previous games. I mean, why do we still have pull, overload or inferno ammo? Isn't it time for something new?"

They're iconic, part of the world. It helps make the world cohesive through gameplay too. Some are pissed that you can't heal in combat (I find it fine myself. Focusing on preventing from being damaged instead of healing damage seems like a smart choice, and there are healing spells. But they are also reviving spells. Makes sense to me).

I'm playing a two handed warrior and loving it, though combat roll and my experience with dark souls makes dodging easy. I went for more dps and only just got warcry to build some guard, most of the time I can dodge most attacks, which is great. With roll and parry I can even mimick my fencing style which was entirely impossible in previous games.

I'd say you have to play the game more, there are a lot of old abilities, but everything has been overhauled, it's just more fun to play, now they just need to get the tactics part back to how it used to be.

I wish the Assassin specialization had more of it's old abilities.
