Play more and lower your expectations. I know that's not particularly encouraging, but it's about the only tip anyone can offer. It's just completely random. It's entirely possible that when you play tomorrow night you'll wind up finding 5 uniques. It's a lot more likely that you won't. Besides, your first purple will probably be a Superb rune, or more likely a level 10 item.
Anyway, gaining levels doesn't really mean anything, so focus on getting as much gold as possible. Try to ensure there are at least one of every archetype (warrior, rogue, mage) in your party, and keep an eye open for those breakable pots. Good luck.
you and me both! spent the last 4-5 nights playing MP using different characters and doing it on threatening with the hope that increases the chance of an item.
best i have had so far is a rare item (blue) which believe it or not was worse than the common item i had >.<
Its all RNG. So far i've gotten 2 uniques, a ilvl12 2hander and a ilvl21 dagger(was super happy). But other then that dagger all the other weapons i've found are ilvl15 and under and only 3 of the weapons i have are rare(held onto highest dps weapon of each). Oh yeah i also got it first chest i opened this morning, with nothing good since and nothing good before. Just hope you get lucky and you will.... sooner or later.
Also it might just be me but i reckon drops are skewed towards the classes you arent playing. EG. when i play my keeper i get heaps of melee weapons but very few staffs, when i play assassin i get a noticable amount of staffs but alot less daggers and bows. Also got that dagger when playing keeper.
I've opened over 100 large boxes (am under 30 in leaderboard atm) and I'm still using a white level 22 one-handed weapon. The droprate in da3 mp is very bad. People I play with have nicknamed the chests to "chests of disappointment" and opening them is usually followed by angry shouting.
Also in case you are wondering what to expect after ~100 hours of gameplay, I am using a lvl 22 blue staff, 22 blue greataxe, 21 purple bow, 21 purple dagger/23 white dagger, and 20 purple shield. Only blue accessories.
No Epics here, found one decent rare bow for my Archer and a couple of runes that I salvaged (lesser runes and fire runes, I'm not wasting my time with fire as it is oft the most resisted elemental type I've found, whereas Cold and Spirit are the least)
Just keep it up, blitz down threatening operations, try to get in teams with one of each class type in them, increase your chances as much as you can.
Oh and stay away from Large Chests, they are a trap.
Large chests are still the most cost-efficient method of getting items. It's not by a huge margin, but you are definitely getting more bang for your buck with large chests.
I wouldn't say fire is any more resisted than frost or lightning. There's one mob per element type that I can think of which might be resistant to it. The exception are the little ranged demons, but I'm fairly sure their element changes depending on which larger demons are nearby. Of the three though, I'd say you'll run into lightning resistant creatures the least.
Just found the perfect epic tanking shield for my legionare he nearly unkilliable
