Nope, FemQuis won my coin toss for gender when I rolled up, and since I'd been liking the stuff I'd seen about Sera to date, I went with the romance too.
Apparently just for me.

After deep contemplation, I'm in the same crowd. As a romance she's great. It's only really with Solas-mancers that she gets super intolerable. And she's super sweet in the later stages.
She's intolerable to any Inquisitor who isn't an idiot, because she throws a tantrum if you point out the fact that the elven gods were real. Sera has a major problem with this fact.

If they are "gods"
If they are "gods"
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they were gods in the same way that ancient pharaohs were gods. Then again, I'm also not what you'd call an expert on DA lore so I could be wrong.

The only issue with that is they clearly do have a way of attaining near immortality by basically body-surfing. Honestly, other than proving that the Elven "Gods" existed, we didn't really learn anything. But that doesn't change anything for me. A lot of people disbelieve the Dinosaurs because Genesis. And they'd disbelieve aliens too. Violently so. I like that Sera is like that. Even though I myself dislike that sort of person, I like the character despite that.

Considering Flemeth has shown she's capable of seeing the future in near-perfect clarity and know intimate details of people she just met, I'd say she's got more going for her than just immortality too.
You've said it before. I hear you. Sera doesn't know that, so it's irrelevant.
Different people have different definitions. Some wouldn't even call the Maker a god. It doesn't matter. Sera is objectively wrong and she doesn't get her just desserts about it.
Is she though? I'm not sure I've seen anything more than spirits doing their spirit things. Sera believes pretty strongly in the Chantry, and I'm not sure that anything she has seen would really be factual proof of elven gods, especially considering this a world that is currently flooded with spirits and demons doing crazy stuff, including a party member that is himself a spirit made physical.
I mean, my Inquisitor said "There are no gods" right before killing Cory, so I'm pretty sure my Inquisitor agrees with Sera.
You know it's true.
Way to keep it classy.

Which is the problem. We should be able to throw it in her face. When our Inquisitor suggests something that we know to be fact, Sera calls them names and makes fart noises. The fact that she never gets mocked to tears with the truth later on is a failing of the writing team.
Not long ago people in this thread were completely losing their nut about Sera being a thoroughly vile, intolerably bad person because she laughed about the Dalish wearing vallaslin without a clue about their significance. And here we are now with people lamenting the fact that they can't mock her to tears about something she doesn't know.
Speaks for itself, I guess.
If they are "gods"
1How do you even define what a god is in the dragon age setting.
2Sera thinks they were all demons, she is objectively wrong.
Ultimately Sera, like any gullible commoner, is a devout andrastian,is deathly afraid of magic and spirits and looks down on elves.I don't blame her for her upbringing,It's actually quite tragic to be so misguided.
Admittedly Sera is quite believable in how she treats things that challenge her beliefs, most people who have deeply held beliefs(especially the uneducated) will double down on these beliefs if they are directly challenged. Corypheus and Abelas directly challenge her beliefs and she has no intelligent way of explaining away what she has seen.So she gets aggressive or distressed.
She is trying to make you more like her.bringing you down to her level, her ignorant, mundane, gullible level. That is ultimately why she joined and what she admits to after you romance her.Alot of people who romanced her agreed with everything she says not because it makes sense(which it doesn't really) but because they wanna ****.many won't admit it though, not even to themselves .lol
Well I'm a maschoist. I think I'm gonna make a qunari male mage and have her be my archer. With Solas and Bull as tank and barrier bot respectively.
Funny. I romanced her and I don't agree with half of what she says. Not everyone who likes a character is like the character.

Actually it was more about her friendship with the elf inquisitor and you know that. Solas knew all along and yet he didn't laugh at the dalish inquisitor the first time they met because he is actually a decent person (turns out he is supposed to be an evil god).
What people want is an opportunity to present the evidence to her tiny little brain so she can shut up or change her views.I think it would be pointless and even more frustrating,it would be like trying to explain time zones to a flat earther,or arguing with a creationist.
It will take all year and you have an ancient demonic magister to kill with the help of two elven gods.Time is wasting.
If you dislike her that much. The best thing you can do is kick her out,you are the inquisitor, you do not have time for those who will not see.
The only character I have actually considered kicking out. She's annoying, obnoxious and simply ignorant. Her voice is horrible too, she has the typical erate voice of the annoying trashy girls that yell out obscenities in a British shopping street.
and you know that.

Wait, wait, wait. How do we know they're not demons? Having played through the game, Well, etc., met the ones, found out about our elven friend, all I've found is that it is probable that they're different from the demons that we've met so far.
However, the demons we met in Dragon Age Inquisition are also rather different than the demons we met in previous games.
We've also never met a Demon Lord or Greater Pride Demon to my knowledge, which does leave open the possibility that gods in Thedas are simply spirits of extremely high power levels.
Its also worth noting that she seems to treat many things in Chantry doctrine as false by default(like the Magisters invasion of the Golden City).
To characterize her as a devout Andrastian clinging to Andrastian beliefs when she reacts shock and disbelief when confronted with evidence that some of the Chantry's more fantastical lines were true, seems inaccurate.
I would characterize her more as a the type who believes largely only in what they see, and has preconceived notions as to what life should be like based on her past experiences(she does say she's trying to get the world back to normal).
Kudos to bioware for making a (very well written) unlikable character. All of the other characters are fantastic in my opinion. They all have negatives and positives (for example, Cassandra is close minded about religion but still a very likable character for her drive, honesty, and the fact that even when she disagrees with the inquisitor she respects his ability to make the big decisions in the first place, which she cannot do) but Sera is just all around bad.
She hates elves for some reason, like literally hates elves, and I after 80 hours in this damn game I still can't discern why. Anytime you do anything to favor an elf (even if you're just being nice and recognizing that they are living as second class citizens) she disapproves, regardless of if you are an elf or not. If you decide to be nice and not kill someone, she disapproves. If your character is an elf, she disapproves when you say neutral things just because it's an elf saying it. If you try to get her to understand different sides of politics so shes not so one sided about it, she disapproves. She hates magic and won't have anything to do with it, seems to never understand the gravity of politics, and insults the Dalish elves right to your face (even if your character is dalish!). Not to mention she has very little opinions on anything, and her war table missions don't at all help the inquisition. When she told me she thinks she is just as inspirational as my character is leading the entire damn inquisition and saving the world while she kills nobles, I almost kicked her out then.
God, she's literally the worst (yet still excellently written) and most enraging character bioware has ever made. Kudos to Bioware. I've never disliked a character (for legitimate reasons) this much. Usually it's just because a character's voice is annoying or their back-story is stupid.
