First chance I got to get rid of her I took it, Honestly my most hated character in DA even worse than Fenris.
Anyone else think Sera is kind of...

Sera is well written.
But it doesnt change the fact that she is a naive, ignorant, unlikable, rude, daft and an incompetent ****
She embodies everything that i hate and i wish i could have knifed her.
Pretty much. I'll praise her inclusion until the cows come home, as I think it took a stroke of genius writing to make a character that can either be so universally loved or hated like Sera is. However as I've said in the past, if my Lavellan wasn't absolutely sure Sera would be using the Jennies to take pot shots at the Inquisition out of spite if she kicked her out, she'd have done so in the beginning. Keeping her around was more a chase of 'keep the crazy under foot so it's easier to manage', even though they did sort of become friends in the end. I say sort of, because it was more my Lavellan giving up on trying to be herself around the other elf (no more diplomatic, nice girl) and Sera not having learned anything at all.
That said, she went from one of my top three most anticipated characters - with a custom Inquisitor lined up just to interact with her - to the one I'll probably never pursue within the span of a playthrough. I'm hoping she and my Trevelyan can at least be friends, but I'm not holding my breath as Sera seems to hate anything that doesn't fit her narrow world view.

I do not care about her at all. It's not dislike, it's disinterest.

Sera is supposed to fill the "irreverent comedian rogue" slot in the team yet she doesn't do this well enough(unlike isabela and Varric)Rogues(who are not cole) are supposed to be cunning, selfish ,neutral and sometimes funny ,but not stupid, ignorant ,arrogant and certain. That's for warriors.

I gotta say I agree with you she was way too annoying for my Inquisitor after her personal quests where she just killed that guy and then even said I should look out maybe she will do the same to me I kicked her out of my team
damm what a brat
she was basically just a filler companion (had no input to the story and her motiviation for joining the inquisiton seemed vague)
so at least she had to be funny and loyal
Glad we have Iron Bull for that one of my favourite Bioware companions love that dude

Ugh I can't stand her. Annoying, immature and juvenile. I'm not exactly thrilled that she's the first lesbian romance option in a Dragon Age game either. It's also rather disheartening that BioWare had the foresight to give her--and only her--the option to get kicked out at anytime knowing how grating she might be to players. But then again, the romances in this game are all disappointing on some scale. ![]()

I think Sera is an excellent character, specifically because she bucks the trend of what's typical from Bioware. I think she's well voiced and epsecially well written.

You know i actually liked her alot, she's terrified for all the right reasons and she disregards her culture which i admit can be somewhat annoying if i'm being honest but shes very fun.
She was one of the ones i liked right from the beginning, shes has a dumb idea of doing the right thing since she has no views about whats the game plan in the longrun.
Vivienne on the other hand was extremely intelligent and i aggreed with her views BUT she chocks everything up to a popularity contest
But i enjoyed talking with her but she never felt the struggle of being guarded in a circle, she had it made as she said so her views on mages was somewhat flawed to me.

I don't care if she's inappropriate. It works, because so far we've only seen mopey and sullen elves. She's a true, charming rogue with a heart of gold. And the voice is just perfect.
Sera is a hilarious breath of fresh air and fart jokes, and she's definetely one of the best companions I've ever seen in a bioware game.

she disregards her culture
No, she doesn't. She's Orlesian. Claiming she's supposed to be some elf culture person is like saying I'm ignoring German culture or my Black friend isn't being African enough. Culture and ethnicity are not identical.

You know, I've been pondering upon why I like Sera so much, and past what I've already mentioned in multiple threads so far, I think I figured it out:
Not wanting to be an elf. I mean, it's ludicrous, right? She's an elf. You can tell by her ears. But she doesn't want to be that. She doesn't want to be stifled by that. She doesn't want to be categorized and labeled by it when she has no control over it, so she lashes out at anything she can to avoid being an elf.
I can relate to that. So much. As I'm sure many of you can. I was raised in a perfect little white suburbia, fiercely Protestant home, money was rarely an issue... And that's how I'm categorized upon anyone meeting me. Consistently. People have assumed I have money, or that I'm religious, or that I'm stuck up about either of those things because of how I look and how my family acts, so I left the state, sold my car to intentionally get a worse one and more or less completely changed my style and my relationships. Why? Because I truly hated that life I'd been given, and I wanted to make a new one. The benefits of being associated with my family and their money no longer outweighed the negatives I felt due to those benefits. Many would call that idiotic or asinine, but it made me happy. I was no longer being shoved into a category of which I didn't want to be a part. It made sense to me.
Sera clearly isn't likeable to everyone. She's often a brat, a hypocrite and, at times, maybe even a bigot. But so are people. I think I like her because she feels so much like a real person, rather than an idealized representation of one.

And this, right here, is why I'll never be mad that she was included. She's polarizing in the same way a human being is, and writing her took MAJOR props to pull off so correctly. She is my least favorite character out of the main party by a loooooong margin, as can be seen in my above post, but in terms of inclusion and story? She's one of the few I'll be praising for years to come in terms of the sheer talent behind her writing and the guts it took to put a character like her into the game.

Well, I like her. With english not being my first language I sometimes have trouble understanding her accent ... but her dirty laughs always gets me...She is like Thedas-version of "Tank-Girl" meeting Harley Quinn?
Of course she is comic relief foremost, but a refreshing one among all the brooding around me. And some of her banter-lines are SO quotable, and I am upset I didn't write them all down, now I have to wait for the wiki to update them all...
With Cass something like that: "What's the Inquisition's motto again?" .... "Into the darkness, into the void .. " "around the corner, chocolates made, hö hö hö" - loved it!
though I probably messed the quote up ...
Arrgggghh! Mages! Arrrghh!! Templars!!! Arrrgghh Tevinter!! Arrrghhh Hungry!! A lot is arrghhh when you are little ...

She's quite polarising.
But that's good, having all the companions with the same goals/actions/views/morals/sense of humour, would be pretty dull.

Because people should respect other people right to their own beliefs, as much as respect their own. The way Sera go on about judging people left and right while thinking that she knew better than anyone speak how respectful and open minded she is.
Because I don't see a reason why she has to be rude and disrespectful to other people. Pardon me, but I find other companions despite their flaws more human than Sera and I still hold my opinion about Sera, and I do believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion anyway.
The fact you hate her so much is **WHY** she's a good character.
Characters are good when you either hate them or love them. Doesn't matter which category you fall into or why only that it happens. **THAT'S** why they're good. It's the characters that make you feel "meh, take 'em or leave 'em" that are forgettable. The one's that annoy or inspire are the ones you never forget. Whether you like Sera or not, you'll never forget her that's for damn sure.
Kinda like Joffrey from GoT. 99% of the world hates that kid. Why? Because he did an AMAZING job selling it.

Ok, I feel this thread needs some Sera love. As a character - she is perfectly written. The very definition in words and actions that art of hers. And I think (very personal but very strong opinion) the voice acting is one of best (if not THE best) in the game. I would handle Oscar to Robyn Addison right away.
Now, as a companion - can not understand all that hate. She is a pure rain of sunshine. So fresh, so open, so funny. Love her!!!

I seem to have had a mostly different Sera in my party than most of the people here. She didn't really stand to benefit, personally, from most of the things she's done, aside from fun. She has flaws, but nothing huge.

I think Sera is well done as a character. But what really gets me about her is that you can only kick her out of the Inquisition, especially if you're playing a law & order type inquisitor. She's exactly the sort of person you should have the option of dragging before the throne of judgement and dealing sweet sweet justice to.

Robyn Addison is from Derbyshire.
Not far off! ... In another thread where one person thought she had a cockney accent another Essex, I said it sounded northern and guessed Nottingham.
Seen a lot of people on various forums comment on her cockney accent!

Sera is just impulsive and insane, if i could imprison her i would, for her own safety and the safety of everyone everywhere.
Good god so many people tripping over themselves at the sight of a more independent woman. Ick.
As to the dialogue well pretty much no one talks like anyone in the DA universe so... I'd say that's a wash.
