Hey, fellow adventurers of Thedas!

Thing is, I can't wait to get my specialization as a warrior, because....2h warrior sucks, big time.
I feel like I don't have enough stamina to use abilities, therefore most of the time I keep finding myself just using my auto attack (lame). Whirlwhind is great though, but in case I jump into the middle of enemies to spin around and whack their heads, they seriously drop my hp.
And that's my issue here: me, as a 2h warr don't have that much survivability. Using war cry is pointless, since it gives some guard, but the taunted enemies eat down it within 2-3 hits...
So I feel like I'm standing between doing great dmg and being able to take a lot of beating, making my 2h warr to be bit useless.

Is it just me who sucks? Give me some advices, pleaseeeee :)

What's your build?

Whirlwind is pretty lackluster, to be honest. It deals only 70% weapon damage, and even if you upgrade it it's not until the fourth swing that it begins to deal more damage than your basic attacks. At this point, you have spent 40 stamina. On top of this, your basic attacks already deal AOE damage (though only in front of you), and Mighty Blow is also quite sufficient for area damage. Sure, Whirlwind is good if you find yourself in the middle of a zombie swarm, but with Combat Roll you shouldn't be in this position to begin with and since you don't have a shield you're going to eat a lot of hits doing the dance.

Anyway, I seriously suggest relying on either Cassandra or Blackwall as a main shield tank, while you use Challenge (not War Cry!) to peel off dangerous enemies and kill them one on one.

Alright the build, points put into the 2h tree until whirlwind and 2h block, then combat roll upgraded with grapple chain+upgraded warcry...

Getting rid of warcry seems a good idea...
Thinking about getting bulls charge instead of grapple chain for an opener, it could help building guard

Ok, I'd suggest respeccing out of Whirlwind if I were you, unless you really love it. Instead, abuse Mighty Blow: you have no less than three abilities that cause knockdown (Charge, Grappling Chain, Block & Slash) so not following up with an upgraded Mighty Blow for over 600% weapon damage would be a crime.

Similarly, get the Coup de Grace passive that deals +30% damage to downed or stunned targets. With Mighty Blow and Pommel Strike, you have five abilities that can cause one of these status effects, so you'll be rolling in extra damage constantly.

Charge is great: it deals damage (even better against crowds than Whirlwind), it knocks enemies down, it generates guard, it makes you move fast, it has a really short cooldown and costs almost no stamina. Get it, get it, get it. Furthermore, it's very possible to hit the same enemy multiple times with Charge, which leads to a lot of Guard very quickly.

I beat Nightmare with 2h warrior. For surviving use Bull Charge and Warcry with their upgrades (Free skill and 200% Armor). Also be sure to pick up the 20% bonus armor passive while guard is active and the passive bonus damage from taunt later on. The block skill's usefulness depends largely on your ability to time it (you can block dragon swipes for instance).

Keep warcry up at all times and use bull charge to get in and out of position.  Upgraded whirlwind is also extremely good for dragon fights and bosses.

I had similar problems with my 2H warrior until I experimented with Bulls Charge. Bulls Charge gave me the ability to get where I need to go with my 2H warrior. Both in and out. I also use War Cry with the Upgrade frequently.

Yep, Jais does not know what he is talking about.. Whirlwind is one of the best things for dragon fights. If you have the upgrade that gives bonus stamina for every hit, get Iron bull or your 2H warrior between the dragons legs and start spinning like crazy, you will get enough stamina back from hitting multiple legs at the same time to keep whirling until you get interrupted by the dragon. Depending on how often the dragon swipes with it's claws you can get 10+ spins in. If you have a axe or sword that damages guard and the dragon is one of the guard users, three legs hit = 3x damage dealt. I think. It is how I killed the first 3. I am now building stronger armor and lightning gear for the next couple. Just remember to bring a tank with you to draw aggro.

Also in time when you see that Elite or Boss big attack wind-up u can it as dodge to dash out of the way.

That's great for fighting dragons and giants and the few other creatures that have multiple hitboxes. By all means, spend 350 gold to respec into whirlwind for these occasions.

For the rest of the game, there are better abilities for area damage and single target dps.

For a 2H dps warrior, which is better: charging bull or combat roll? Charge seems nice, but the opportunity cost of getting it early on is steep.

To clear it out: If you want to do damage -- do damage. Don't tank. If you don't tank -- your survivability is highly irrelevant. You should not get focused. Play smart.

Secondly, whirlwind is overrated. Yes, it's amazing against dragons. yes, it's amazing with Tier 3 gear and you faceroll the game. Outside of that? It's crap. It deals 75% weapon damage. Less than your auto attack AOE damage. You also can't CC or control the map when you use it. You also spend a lot of time in the center of enemies, getting you killed by any frontal-aoe swings.

My recommendations. This is especially true in Act 1 before you get top notch gear, or Reaver specialization.

Team Setup:

Cassandra tank. Build her for 2 taunts and 20% more armor in Vanguard. Then move down in SnB tree and get 50% less damage from arrows at front, unable to be flanked, 20% damage resistance and the ability to crush Guard. Then I move over to Battlemaster and get grappling hook. For future goal I go down and get Horn of Valor with its upgrade, and get all the goodies in the Templar tree.

Solas support: Winters grasp first, then I get everything related to barrier. Dispel is also a must-have early on, as barriers can get painful to get through. As he gets Rift Mage i go down that one as well. Weakness is huge, and the extra mana means solas can dps along with supporting, since his mana streches for more.

Varric dps: To be fair, Sera is the better choice due to Tempest specialization. But damn, Varric is too awesome! Anyways: i go down the right tree in archery, get posion + upgrade and stealth. I prioritize stealth for his survivability and "I am going to wipe"-stealth-run away-moments. The added buffs in his specialization are nice as well, if I may add!

Me, 2 handed warrior: First thing I do is to buy the respecc amulet and get all my points back. why would anybody want an AOE taunt for a dps?.. er.. anyways.

- I get mighty blow + upgrade. I head over to battlemaster and get Grappling hook + upgrade.

I now got a reliable way to knock down enemies, and I can pull rangers closer!

- I go down the left tree of 2 handed until I get Pommel Strike. The upgrade isn't crucial, so I get it later.

- I move down the left side of the battlemaster tree to get 30% added damage on knocked down targets.

That's the core of the build. I do massive damage on knocked down targets, and i got 3 ways to CC enemies. Since I use 3 abilities, I also never run out of stamina either.

- For the next points I wait for reaver, and I get all the passives. I avoid the active abilities, as they don't interest me or fit my playstyle.

- From here on out I got 3 choices: I go down the right side of battlemaster for stamina regen + AoE CC, I go and get bull charge in Vanguard for the movement + surviability or I go down in SnB to get the 20% damage reduction among other things.

* Combat Roll is also a crucial part of the gameplay. I got mine at level 9, but I regret not getting it earlier! The added mobility makes it easier to avoid damage. Mauler about to hit? Roll out. Bear about to aoe-damage? Roll out.
