I have tried 10 times atleast but it never improve stats, the only thing that ever worked for improving stats for me was "Essence of Perfection" which has 100% chance of critical effect, that is to increase all item stats by 10%.

Dragon's Tooth supposedly have 40% chance of critical effect to increase item stats by 10% but it never procs for me, same goes with bear claw's or any other item which have x amount of chance of critical effect. Is it bugged or did it work for anyone? I have already killed all 10 dragons and got loads of dragon tooth which seems totally useless at this point.

I think it worked for me. 40% chance is not a good chance though

40% chance means it should proc atleast 1 in 3 attempts. It never does for me, I think the chance is more like 1%-5% rather then 40%.

No, it's 40%, but it's 40% on every attempt. So you calculations are average. You can "hit" 1 in 3, but there is a chance you don't hit even once in lets say 10 attempts.

Discovery, the chance is not random but fixed.

First of all, you can try and reload your game 100 times and it WILL NOT PROC 100 times because the chance is not actually random.

In my vast testing, I get Dragon's Teeth effect to proc on 4th attempt, this is 100% reproduce able, means you will never get a proc on first 3 attempts and it will proc on 4th attempt everytime which means you can make dummy items with lower tier gear and then use your higher tier materials in 4th attempt. However this means you will need atleast 4 dragon teeth before you can have single proc.

This is extremely disappointing as the chance is not actually random but fixed. There are no random numbers working in background.

P.s. reloading won't help, you have to waste 3 dragon tooth first and on 4th you will get 10% improved stats.

Maybe the chance of proccing is decided when you acquire the item, not when you use it?

This is possible as I am trying, my first proc will come on 4th try no matter how many times I reload my game so that's definitely not random but already decided.

EDIT: Ok I have figured it out now and I will try to explain as better as I can so if anybody else is wondering can get some understanding how this works.

The proc chance which is listed on the item is real but its calculated when you obtain the item or when it actually procs next when you craft an item.

So lets assume you loot Bear claw's which have a 30% chance of producing 10% better equipment, as soon as you loot them their chance of proc will be calculated and saved by the game. Lets assume the dice roll decides it will proc on 3rd attempt so you will have to craft weapon/armor with bear claws atleast 3 times before it procs, saving and reloading won't help.

So once the proc happens the game will immediately roll again in order to determine the next proc and save it again, now if you save your game at this point then your proc chance is saved with it, the dice isn't actually rolled when you craft the item but when you obtain them or gets a proc to happen.

I guess this is bioware's way of disencouraging people from craft an item and if it doesn't proc then reload and try again because then the chance of critical crafting success wouldn't really matter.
