Okay, so I've done my play through with a mage(rift) and rogue(archer) so far and was wanting to run a tank next. I'm having a lot of trouble choosing between dwarf and qunari mainly because I'm just not sure which is going to be more needed with all the defensiveness I'm going to have from my gear. I can't decide whether I'll need the magic defense more or the physical defense more. I have seen a lot of people saying that the qunari passive is not 10% physical (which should obviously be 10% melee/ranged), but is actually only 25% melee, regardless of what the game actually tells you... So I guess the question is, even though the tank armor obviously more so focuses in the physical defenses with more leather and metal than cloth, is it really better to go with qunari or dwarf in the long run? I feel like mage's are the larger threat when it comes to damage over pretty much anything else other than the 2h wielders, but they also die much faster and therefore if focused first can cause a lot less harm. The only thing I'm really worried about honestly is the early-mid game demons with those damned ice rays of death... I like to play on Nightmare for difficulty purposes, but until you really get some levels, those things absolutely destroy you without sufficient magic defense.

If you plan for SnS tanking warrior, your choice must be Elf or Dwarf, not Qunari. Warrior class already has full range of melee defensive capability, so Qunari's 25% melee dmg reduction is unnecessary. For fighting with ranged enemies, utilize your rogue & mages to disable/kill them first.

SnS go Dwarf, you get that nice giant shield from the skyhold merchant... it is larger than cassy is tall. I am still tossing up between a 2H Qunari and a SnS Dwarf.. Depending on how hard the legion of the dead armor is to get.. The dwarf has access to more armor than the qunari, but the potato main line armors are hands down better when crafted which is annoying. Annoyed that the humans get access to exponentially more gear than anyone else even though it wouldnt be hard to reverse engineer the armor for a qunari to wear.

Yeah I was definitely leaning more towards the dwarf, I didn't want to go Elf just because I already used the Elf for my rogue playthrough and wanted to use something different.
