I played the ME3 multiplayer demo waaay back when me3 was about to be released. I really loved it sadly none of my friends we're interested.

 

I'm now considering buying me3 to play the multiplayer but I only got 2 buddies interested. Is the multiplayer

 

A: Fun

B: Possible to complete

 

with a party of 3 players?

Yes it is fun and possible with 3 people. Plenty of people have soloed the highest level multiple times!!! 3 people communicating is actually easier than 4 people who don't. It might be a little harder when you first start out if none of you have played before but I'm sure you will get there. You can also create a lobby with yourself, 2 friends and then open up the last slot as public to pull a random stranger in if you want.

Let a fourth PUG join your squad just to get a little extra firepower.

It depends on what difficulty he's playing at.  I mean, hell, I've soloed silver missions.  Once.  I think.

 

But, yah, it should be fine.  Just put it on bronze, then silver, etc.  Find your strengths.

People soloed every difficulty with every kit, weapon and gear/perk there is.

For average players I'd say Gold+Platinum is a hard time alone, Gold with 2-3 not too bad players is totally fine, Plat is not really fun and only for 1337 gam0rz with the most OP kits, weapons and consumables.

 

ME3MP is still stromng with lots of players, I'd say let a 4th player in your lobby and see how it works out for you. Can be fun, maybe you make new friends, maybe you can carry a n00b to extraction and show him how to play, maybe you die 5 times on wave 1. That's part of the ME3MP fun.

a: Yes, very. I've sunk more than 2k hours into it in 2.5years.
B: Yes, but why would you? There are plenty of good teammates who would be willing to help you if you go to the MP forum. Even randoms are fun and mostly helpful. Most of my FL originally was made up of randoms I played a good match with.

This was my first MP and the community as a whole is pretty cooperative and not much given to trolling. Give it a try even if your friends don't play with you. You'll likely find a few new gaming friends along the way.

A party of 3 is totally fine, if you insist on playing with only 3 people.
