I've been pondering about whether to buy this game or not (given the awfulness of DAII, I guess this is something for another thread...)

 

Anyway, because I'm kind of studying the whole situation before I really commit to getting the game or not, reading about performance on PC, controls, the game being not moddable, etc, but I haven't found anything about this yet, so here's the Q:

 

 

Is there any way to change the looks of the companion NPCs?

 

Long story short: Blackwall looks like an ISIS jihadi, and for that extremely shallow reason I can't have him in my party. I'd cringe every time I see him (and I really wanted to try the romance with him.)

I guess i'm too current on world news events... I really can't see the guy as anything else but jihadi john, so...

But regardless, is there any way to change the appeareance of npcs? I read that dai is basically un-moddable?
...or at least change him not to have a beard/stache...

No mods yet, so no. You can't change their appearance other then enabling helmets, but they are automatically removed in conversations anyway.

Oh gosh. I really would like a head morph for Blackwell cause he just looks so unappealing to me as he is. Maybe a dlc if a mod isn't possible?

You want them to completely re-create how they look because you dont like it?

 

Theres a very good reason (story wise) for having that beard

Yawn.  ALL of the straight male choices are less than appealing.  Scars and warts - seriously?  They even seemed to go out of their way to make Morigan less attractive.  Why?  Leliana is still a hottie, but is not available, of course.  Its not a big deal I suppose - just very strange.  If I wanted "normal / realistic" I wouldn't be playing a fantasy game. 

 

Bioware... what were you thinking?  Its almost like you put effort into making females unattractive.  If that was your goal - Bravo!  Mission accomplished.

 

You might consider putting as much effort into UI design and animation as you are putting into your admirable social agenda.  The UI comment references the broken PC control scheme and weak console port in general, the animation comment ... well, just watch straight female characters walk in the cut scenes - ridiculous. 

 

I would just mod out most of these problems - but you seem to have made that problematic as well - great job.

First of, I respect your opinion.

But Jesus Christ, how can one be so biased against certain looks just because some bad people resemble said apperearance in your eyes.

You yourself call the reason shallow, so this doesn't exactly help me understand people like you.

If you meet someone in real life with a full beard how do you react to them? Seriously asking.

I would like to eventually be able to morph some of the NPC's.. like Solas first off.. something really unappealing about his mug.. O_o
