I have played both mage and rogue til around level 10 without getting the specializations and I prefer the rogue at that level at least without the specializations so what I really want to know is does the mage get more fun when you get knight enchanter ? Does it change the mage class and make it more fun to play ?
Many thanks for any replies

KE is very fun if you take the storm or fire route, but it naturally depends on your playstyle. If you prefer more to be the nuke mage then KE will not appeal to you. If instead you like to go in melee (and sometimes mix it AOE and/or ranged spells) then you will have a good time.
Just be sure, however, to not powerbuild elsewhere you remove all the challenge from the game with KE (a build as KE/Winter focused only on barrier and spirit blade spam, for example, is very boring but it surely is invincible). Simply pick the skills you like for rp and/or playstyle reasons.
As for the rp (roleplay) aspect: mage IMO synergize better with the story (I don't want to spoil to you why but there's a reason) and yes, some options are only open to mages (but the same is also true for rogue).
Rogue is more strategical (especially DW on higher difficulties), mage is a little more forgiving (especially KE), however if you want to watch single enemies go down as fast as you can then with mage you will never have that experience (DW rogue is where max single target dps is). Both have their strong and weak points. I suggest you to simply go with what you prefer from a purely roleplay aspect as they both are very fun classes to play.

Honestly, I found it fun for a few levels and realized I'd rather be casting cool spells instead of spamming a handful of them. Right now it is so strong that you really do lose a lot of the challenge in the game. If I could do it again I would go rift mage because it has some pretty cool Crowd control and debuffing.

No, KE is 1 button "win the game" if you may. If you want to challenge yourself, KE is the last you got with.

just try as many as want, you can always switch different characters. my main is rogue. but if i want to play mage, i wont create another save, ill just play vivienne, dorian or solas. same goes other classes. thats is how this game is different from other rpg, which usually you only get to control 1 character.
