Leliana became the Divine in my play, and I have no idea how. I never did the operation for Vivianne as the Divine, so I understand that. However, I openly told Leliana that I would not support her, and I felt like I made more or less positive remarks about it to Cassandra.

So I'm stumped on that front.

Who you support isn't indicative of who your Divine will be. It's a combination of all the choices you make throughout the game.

After hardening Leliana, I became very adamant that she was wholly unsuitable to be The Divine. Her hands are far too dirty. I had already decided on Cassandra by this point, her moderate reformist attitude seems ideal to me. I had no idea Viv was even in consideration, but I think her opinions are far too regressive.

People were saying that Cass becoming the new divine ends the relationship, but IDK to be honest. At the end of the game if she becomes the divine and you romanced her, they give you 2-3 dialogue options in response, one of which breaks the romance (the broken heart symbol) the other which I can't recall at the moment but doesn't explicitly say it ends.

It wasn't until recently that I noticed a line she says at the end of the game: "I will always stand by your side", stays the same regardless of whether she becomes divine or not. (If you didn't choose the break romance option at that point. I didn't choose it on my first playthrough in which i romanced her and she became divine) It is the same line she says in the first romance scene, "They will say one of two things about me - that I stood at the inquisitors side his protector and his lover.."

As for the epilogue scene in your skyhold room, if she becomes the divine she mentions how you will be pulled away by the nobles and she will be taken away for coronation. Suggesting she wants to enjoy the moment while she still can.

If she doesn't become divine, she mentions how you will be pulled away by nobles and that she wants to enjoy the moment while she still can.

Essentially the same scene, minus the divine part. This was what Leliana alluded to when she said many nobles will want to meet the inquisitor. It's safe to say the romance doesn't end unless you specifically end it when she becomes the divine.

What about post scene, when you can walk around Skyhold again. In the Divine version, you can bring her back into your party or not, but no romance primate moment option anymore. If Lili is divine, is the options no there as well, or is it?

The operation to support Vivienne is that you bring that option on the table for them to debate. I am rather curios who ends up Divine for me, though I'll support Viviene.

Leliana reforms in a radical way, Cassandra reforms slightly.

Vivienne is the biggest ****** slap I can EVER give the Chantry. A mage as Divine, hah!

What is interesting about Vivienne as divine for me is that Leliana and Cassandra force change that might not stick after they are gone. For Vivienne, the Chantry as an institution makes a conscious step towards accepting mages on its own just by electing her as the new divine.

Funny thing is that Vivienne seems the most conservative as Divine which is pretty funny since she is a mage and all.

I disagree, actually. While I prefer her unhardened, as divine she sees much more success hardened.

Elaborate?

I think that's pure speculation; she sees success either way. Unless "success" is defined as "dead political and religious dissidents." Which, within the context of these fuckin' games, is fair enough, I suppose.

I don't put much stock in the epilogues either way; they take place well after the endgame you can quest around in after the credits. Remember when Cullen turned into a serial killer after Origins? Good times.

Vivienne does enact reform. She gives mages more freedoms and puts the Templars on her leash as her personal army. Somewhat dangerous, but she knows she cannot stay in power without the Inquisition.

As such Vivienne is the best option in my eyes.

It's worth noting the epilogue slides don't really go into that much detail.

There's no romance content post game. No companion content at all for that matter.

I'm still waiting for an answer for why we can't put forth Mother Giselle as a candidate.

I know... After talking to her with my mage, I was like, Ok, I understand, and the fact that she was pretty much the down the middle kind of person needed to well make it all run right seems to me would be the best person. Also if you think about it. Would be the best pick because she WASN'T a key figure in the war. She helped those who needed help, no matter a mage or templar or even elf, or qun.

*sigh* oh well

Just finished ( :D ) and was very satisfied with Vivienne as the new Divine. Apart from keeping the Circles and Templars intact and giving them the support they need, it is a major victory for mages as well by tearing down one of the walls preventing them from having greater say in society and contributing more to its benefit. An ideal compromise altogether, IMO.
