So I've played for a couple of hours with all 5 weapon styles. While the melee classes are a bit clunky to handle (Be it with KB/M or controller) and the mage being quite underwhelming, I've found the Archer to be faring the best. The game starts with Stealth + Long Shot, which in itself is quite a great combo. Caltrops make sure you're not easily followed, and crits and ccc land easier. I'm enjoying this character the most out of any others, though I still have to give KE mage and rift mage a go. Thoughts?
Are Archers overpowered in this game?

Caltrops with FF on is different case.

Yes their DPS is certainly lower but you need to factor into account the fact they can constantly hit without much threat of retaliation.
I don't feel it is clunkiness though as much as it is the fact they are consistent damage dealers and by that I mean they are incredibly reliable.
Daggers on the other hand? Not as reliable cause if they get hit by an AOE then sun run dunnnn.. Out of the picture.

I've been reading that after these advanced trees open up you get much more powerful. I haven't gotten to this point yet.

Played archer on my hard play-through. He didnt have that good burst damage, but the damage was consistent and high.

Daggers for me all day every day.
I've been using daggers. Have you thoroughly explored both options? I've only tried ranged for about a half hour.

Rogue with Daggers. OP is no word for it. With crafted Tier3 Daggers you're on the 1000dps with the right rune. Yes, 1000.

They are snipers
Which is somewhat realistic given the close ranges except: plate and even mail should be able to shrug off arrows at range

I know the DPS from daggers is certainly higher, but your survivability is lower and melee attacks in this game are not that great overall. You spend half the time rotating your camera to hit the target. It is very annoying.

craft something with 3 Guard on hit and you'll be gravy.

I don't know if playing for 5 hours of each class is a good judgment, unless you're playing at higher levels. My Mages was pretty underwhelming until I got to level 8 or so. Now at level 18 she's amazing, and I'm kind of bummed to think about playing as a different class for my 2nd playthrough.

Don't even have guard on anything.
I just use evade and stealth. There's a very nice rhythm to this game once you get into it.
