What's a Shout? Anyone old school knows what that means.

Please add a shout cap for the message buttons so players will stop spamming it during game play (the "Get over here", "You did good"). Allow perhaps a max of 10 per character/game. Tie the shout amount to the players prestige so noobies are unable to spam the message.

Sometimes you need to spam the message for people to get the hint.

The ammount of people who ignore a chest room and proceed to attempt soloing groups of mobs and dying while everyone else is in the chest room is staggering...

This.

Enter room -> clear enemies -> spot treasure room... and the others are running ahead.  You give a polite "over here" shout -> they engage the next group (but still close to the treasure room) -> clear enemies -> another "over here" -> one runs back, two run off -> "over here" -> "over here" -> maybe another runs back -> "over here"...

Sod it grab the treasure, walk past their corpses, and clear the zone -> repeat next room <sigh>

As previous posters have pointed out, how else are we supposed to tell the blind pugs where they missed another treasure room. I have had games with the same pug two times in a row on the same map and they would still run past the exact same treasure rooms a second time.

So no, terrible idea.

I get a kick out of players who run past the treasure rooms.

Many times 3 of us will enter the treasure room, while the 4th member runs ahead and gets killed. like, duh! Couldn't see that coming.

I agree with others here, while it can get annoying, I'd rather it be available.  I too have sometimes spammed "over here" a bit to get attention of players who run right to the next enemy.

that said, if there a way for BW to implement a toggle, perhaps in options to either minimize/turn off player shout outs/banter, then that's cool.

... and this is why the game needs a shout cap.

The shout is not meant to be a personal annoy-the-heck-out-of-everyone-in-the-game feature. It's meant to be used offensively and defensively to "strategize" gameplay. Shout spam abusers I've seen literally leave in the middle of a fight to just start at a treasure room entrance and spam the button while everyone else is dying. If someone has seen your spam and hasn't changed course then chances are they are ignoring it. So there's really no point in doing it anymore. For whatever reason their thought process completely stops when they see a (?) on the map. Then you have little kids who think it's "fun" to mash buttons.  It's not just the treasure hunters who do it. It's also guys who are trying (and unsuccessfully) to "team lead" by spamming. There are pros/cons in both directions.

My suggestion is not the only way to approach it. They could also limit the number of times you can do it in succession or over a time period. Robbiesan also made a good suggestion to have a toggle option for shouts.

Are we really running out of things to say and discuss? Bioware, we need new DAMP contents quick... :P

I'm just filling in for Pedro, RJ and Cyonan until they get into MP hardcore. I've got like 7 pages of net logs, diagnostics, ideas, bugs, buff/nerf requests to last BW awhile. This is just the light stuff I'm throwing at them. I could write them all up at once if you prefer.  ^_^
