Lol, only saw this post today, the level of entitlement is absurd. The Warden ends up leaving only after the events of the main story are finished. Hawke leaves immediately. Kind of a big difference, there.
So temporary he has yet to return and nobody in the city has any idea about him. Give me a break with that line of BS. The ridiculousness of him having any more pull in Kirkwall isn't worth the effort of arguing.
And a Warden leader is unable to coordinate them? What? Isn't that basically what the previously stated fortes of two of the three possible Wardens was?
I WILL come here and say people who save Hawke can't have an RP explanation. Because the ones I've heard are extraordinarily weak. If you don't like it, try to argue it. If the best you've got is some invisible ties of leadership to a city he abandoned years ago (one known for changing leadership on the fly, also according to the codex) and some argument about the Warden leader...not being a leader for whatever reason, I'd say I can pretty well rest my case.
Its not even worth a serious response.

Most people seem to think the one staying behind is dead, but that is just an assumption. The game dialogue does say "likely" and I ended up chosing Hawke for one simple reason:
Flemeth told Hawke has a big destiny, as well as herself, and that the world fear the unevitable plummeth into the abyss, he/she should not fear to leap, and he/she would know wether he/she could fly or not.
Staying in the fade can't be Hawke's big destiny. So I chose Hawke to stay, because I think Flemeth will play a big role in the future and that Hawke might have a bigger destiny ahead, and dying in a fight against Nightmare can't be his big destiny.
It was that part that made me reconsider my choice of letting the warden stay behind and instead chose Hawke to stay behind. I don't think this is the end for Hawke.

I chose a different one to die every play through just to see something different. I found Loghain to be the most entertaining character of the 3. The writers seem to have abandoned Allistair since DAO. In my ideal world state Allistair is king with Anora and Loghain was killed by my warden so Stroud would be getting to die since I don't know him and he didn't exactly help Hawke in DA2.

It was that part that made me reconsider my choice of letting the warden stay behind and instead chose Hawke to stay behind. This is not the end for Hawke, his/her destiny is still to be fufilled!
I would be thoroughly amused if only Hawke is able to survive the Fade.

I let Loghain live since I have huge crush on how charismatic he is. I hope he restored Grey Wardens' greatness. Also, I hope my Hawke was saved by Flemeth. It was very hard to decide but I needed Loghain in case Solas would start another blight. Remember how against Wardens he is? I don't trust him. I know next Dragon Age isn't coming too soon but if they might bring my Hawke back and let her be my main hero... I can't get used to making new hero over and over again. I want my old hero to progress. Just hope it won't be Inquisitor - lack of dialogue options was terrible. I really missed Hawke. I still miss her. :c

I always kill Hawke since I though DA2 was garbage.

Considering that the Trespasser epilogue only mentions Hawke if he wasn't left the Fade...yeah, he is definitely dead.
Also, there is no reason to mention him in the next games.

Also, I'm a sentimental cheeseball and I don't want Hawke to die, mostly for Varric's sake... and Carver... and Fenris...

Hawke dies. He was already dead in my headcanon so it was very nice to actually be able to 'kill' him in game as well. I could never leave Stroud behind, anyway. He's one the most likable NPC's in game. Of course I do also exile the Wardens... but at least they have someone like him leading them to a better path.
Oh, and I really hope that leaving someone in the Fade means they ARE actually dead. I'd hate to discover Hawke survived miraculously yet again...
Also, I love it when asked about Hawke the Inquisitor can just say: "Dead" like it's nothing special.

Only because I hadn't set up my Internet on my PS4. And was stuck with a defult Hawke. Not the Hawke I played in DA2. So I didn't feel bad.
Now that I have import a Alistair warden save. .. I will still be Hawke. Simply caue I can't Let Alistair die...at all and I want one of my DA couples to have a god damn happy ending. So Alistair lives and gets to be with his Warden Love. Anders and Hawke were never going to have a happy ending.
As for I never keep Loghain alive behond the Landsmeet.

Stroud stay in the Fade.
Hawke have family, Stroud have darkspawn infection in his blood. Simple logical decision.
(Fenris would die if he loses Hawke, Carver would be sad, and Varric too. Simple sentimental decision)

Every one of my characters have strong, close relationships. The Hero with Morrigan, Kieran and dog, Hawke with Isabela, Bethany and Charade and the Inquisitor with Cassandra. So if at all possible, my characters always survive. If i'm playing, the warden is the one who stays in the fade. Always.

Whoa there, lets not get ahead of ourselves! After all Hawke could also be still alive and be forced to experience her/his worst NIghtmares over and over and over again while the Nightmare slowly leeches her/his soul away to nothingness.

I never could kill off my Lyanna Hawke - one of my alltime favorite characters i. So in my current world stat, Loghain will have to stay behind. I used the only playthrough for that, where I let Loghain live for his insights in RtO. I would feel bad killing off Alistair or Stroud, although if I have to choose between them and Lyanna, they would always have to face that spider. Loghain was for me the cheap way out, I usually kill him in my DAO games, so I'm used to let him die ![]()

One of the best things about Hawke is that he is a tragic hero. Ending his story with his death is only fitting.
Yes. Right. My Hawke does not even succeed in self-sacrifice. What is it if not tragic?

REALLY tragic. My last mage Hawke that sided with the Templars had a pretty nasty fight with Alistair condemning the Wardens (I think Alistair called the Right of Nullification an atrocity?) before manning up to stay behind. Survived now only by his Grey Warden bro.One of the best things about Hawke is that he is a tragic hero. Ending his story with his death is only fitting.

Eh. While i was lucky enough to be able to recreatte my Hawke without a problem i don't see why Hawke has to necessarily look the same anyway. Hawke could have just as easily changed their looks in between the two games timespan. Adapt. And maybe it's the way other people see Hawke but besides his mother dying there's nothing tragic about my Hawke. My Hawke has a happy life.
