Seems likely, just left Redcliffe Castle after 40 hours with a level 8 party.

Purely optional.

I would say try to get to Skyhold as quickly as possible because if you level too fast you won't be able to specialize.

What is the min level required for specialization and what is the max?

They unlock for the PC at 10 - I don't see how you can miss it though, unless later events block off certain operations from the war room map. It seems like it would be a terrible idea for them to do it that way though.

I too will easily hit over 100 hours. Especially on my first play through as a mage. I already have my rogue lined up to start the 2nd play through. I intend to use that char to hit other areas or quests I missed the first time around.

But if I get to that point at level 11 or 12, does that mean I cant specialize?

Well, I did it at 11.

As to whether it eventually gets locked out, I have no idea, so hopefully someone else can answer. I just think it would be a crappy design choice to have that happen.

I already have hit the 100 hour mark.  First 60 hours was on a playthrough that got corrupted-though I'm not calling it a waste, because I was having hella fun.

Getting the corrupted class issue and realizing it so late, really sucked, but I'm now about 35 hours into my replay, so, yeah, I think there's a lotta game to have there. :)

Thats why when I get home, I am going to get PS Plus and upload my saves to the cloud. :)

114 hours and just watched the cutscene after the credits.  All side quests completed... missing like 7 mosaic tiles (never completed one bloody puzzle most 1 piece shy lol).  Also missing like 3 wine bottles and one song.  All 10 dragon snuffed.  All shards collected (wasn't impressed with the end reward but meh it's done at least once).  There's a landmark on some map I might feel like hunting down at some point.  That was my male dalish rogue playthrough.  I'll be taking a small break before doing my female mage play through.  Already got a different keep import ready to go for her.  Might focus on just getting the mosaic and bottles to make this round a bit different.

I regret nothing.

I didn't get to Skyhold until I was level 15.  There's an operation on the war table after you get your arcanist I believe.  So it doesn't do anything negative.  You'll probably just have to give everyone respec potions if you want to take advantage of everyone's specializations.

My companions' specializations popped up at level 8, I believe.

I reckon I'll easily hit the 100-hour mark. I was about 40 hours in when I reached Skyhold and that was with leaving a bunch of sidequests out (that I'll be going back to do before I get too much further forward). Hell, I could lose days just pottering around my new castle checking out the builder's progress and chatting to the residents lol.

I was still in Haven until I was 15.  They didn't get their specializations until I stepped in Skyhold :P

I am 20 hours in, just completed the Redcliff mission, have not 100% completed the Hinterlands and have not reached Skyhold yet. I still have Oasis, Storm Coast, and Mire to explore and attend Vivi's party. I can safely say that by the time the end credits role, I would be over 100+ hours and I find that enjoying. I remember putting in a lot of hours into Morrowind and Oblivion (never played Skyrim) but those games did not have the cinematic and core plot experience as Bioware games do. Morrowind/Oblivion were games where you explored and created your own story and purpose.

I do not know what the rest of DAI's content is, but considering that I just did the first major story quest after the prologe and before Skyhold and took me 20 hours to do, I am sure that I am about 15%-20% finished with the game when you add in doing a majority if not all sidequest. Normally on my first playthrough I like to rush so that I can see the story and reserve the 2nd and 3rd playthroughs for the relaxed/take my time and take in the scenery playthroughs. With DAI, I wan this first playthrough to be specail as I only get 1 chance for a 1st playthrough.

It is killing me not to rush but I just want to take my time and soak this all up.

Anyone else here feeling that their first playthrough might take them over the 100+ hour mark? Has anyone beaten the game yet with 100+ hours?

I'm 50 hours in and have just done Crestwood and haven't started on upgrading Skyhold I think I could spend 20+ hours on doing that and the crafting without carrying on with the rest of the mission.

45 hours in; got to Skyhold at 20 and just finished upgrading it (I think).  I did the vast majority of the "known" Hinterlands while I was in Haven (or so I thought) but I'm getting bogged down with every other side quest, and I'm trying to do everyone's companion quests before I meet someone in Crestwood (which apparently won't be the case since some people's quests won't show until that's done).  It seems every time a major quest is done we are slammed with a whole bunch more side quests; it was quite a shock from going "I think I did 75% of the side quests!"  before Skyhold to "WHERE DID ALL OF THESE COME FROM" the second I stepped into Skyhold.  Don't get me wrong; glad that it has the potential of 100+ hours.  Though I have some minor complaints, money spent on a short and boring game is not one of them.

Oh easily.   My first character is sitting at 65 hours... and I am pretty sure I am not even half way through yet.   As with all good games, I have even made a 2nd character to play simultaneously as well.

Easily. I'm at over 70 hours now and I still don't have all the main zones unlocked.

I think I'm on 28 hours and feel as if I'm 30% through the story. I love exploring the areas that I've read so much about in the lore books or heard about from past games. I really want to take my sweet time in this game. Especially since it's got massive areas filled with tonnes of things to do.

Oh yeah.  I'm 70 hours in and still have a lot to do!  I'm at the Hissing thingy.

I have 55 hours right now. I'm (I think) about halfway through the main story, I haven't even been in all areas, not to speak about doing quests in them, haven't killed a single dragon as of yet either. Haven't finished any of companions/advisors quests so far.

So yeah, I'd be uprised if I finished the game before 100 hours mark.

Although I'm playing on Nightmare, so combat takes more time for me.

I'm probably 20-25 hours in and have yet to reach Skyhold. I've just made it to Redcliff actually. I'm thinking I'll probably be close if not at 100 before I'm done with this playthrough.

I'm at about 85 hours on my first playthrough and I still have a ton of stuff to complete including the main story. It's very easy to get absorbed into the game because there is so much to do even if some think a lot of it is filler stuff. Watching cutscenes, reading lore, companion quests, main story quests, side quests and crafting, you could rack up a lot of hours of play time.

I tend to hop around to different areas instead of trying to complete everything in one area at a time. So there will probably be stuff I do in my second playthrough that I didn't do in my first one which makes the replay value that much better.

I'm 75 hours in and thats an hour or 2 of mp. So I dont think the story unless it gives me a few more side quests. Will take me too much longer. I dont know how much I'll do post game, seeing as I've killed 3 Dragons already.

90 hours in on Nightmare. Don't know how much of the game I have left, but I'm sure I'm gonna clock it over 100h. Still haven't done Hissing Wastes, Emprise du Lion, and not advanced the story even through The Ball quest you get right after you get Skyhold, so not sure if some more areas will still unlock. I'll find out later tonight I reckon! But yeah, 100 hours will surely pass.
