I thought I was going to have major issues going by all the complaints but it was way more comfortable than I thought.

The only problem I have is, as an MMO player, I keep pushing both mouse buttons to run and end up with my character standing there attacking the ground. What have other people done in this situation? just tried to un-learn this behaviour in the game?

Smaller, minor problem is the lack of mouse button controls, support for those would be nice.

Out of curiosity, do you have a sort of condition that aggravates it?

No condition, for how long I've been gaming I've never had game related injuries (RSI), and I'm pretty hardcore when it comes to raiding and pvp. So I'm used to gaming for long stretches, it's just the controls in DA:I are a little off or to be more precise, repetitive. I'll be happy once I can keybing to my mouse.

Yes, the camera cursor getting physically stuck on scenery is 'perfectly fine'. Often being literally impossible to maneuver it to see important gameplay elements (rifts above you, enemies above you) is 'perfectly fine'.

It's not 'just different'; it's amateurish and unfit for purpose. The absolute best thing that can be said for it is that eventually you learn to work around the brokenness. The only reason it got a pass from reviewers is because they all played it in Button AWESOME! mode and never needed to use it.

I haven't had much chance to play the game yet, but I don't understand a lot of the complaints.  One of the first things I do with a new PC game is customize the key bindings.  It seems like there are some people on this board who don't like the default bindings, while at the same time refusing to customize them.

That being said, I do think there are a couple of issues:

  1. No click to move outside of Tac. Cam.
  2. Not recognizing additional mouse buttons.  I got around this using the Application Specific settings in the MS Mouse and Keyboard Center, but still, it would be nice to be able to directly assign keys to those buttons within the application

Using K&M as well.  Just past the first act, waiting on the patch to play the rest of it.

I simply cannot play with the PC controls as they stand (especially trying to play Knight Enchanter). Hoping Bioware does a massive rethink on the PC controls but I know that is unlikely. Every thing I do I feel like I'm fighting the UI. Just glad they decided to add controller support, the game feels like it was designed around it.

Playing on Normal difficulty, haven't used Tac Cam a whole lot because using it is quite tedious (on controller). I'm glad that others aren't having problems with the KB+M, I just wish I could join you guys :(

I too found the mouse pointer difficult to see in battle. However, I usually attack by holding R (in action mode, not having WASD to move and edge pan for tactical mode makes it dead on arrival).

When the mouse stops working, try pressing the right mouse button. I've found that works most of the time, though why the issue occurs in the first place is a mystery.

Huh.  Haven't had any issues here, which is why I asked.

Sucks :(

Also I find mouse clicks sometimes aren't noticed, especially in the War Room where I can't get the mouse to work at all. I have to change to A, D and Enter then back to mouse for the map.

There's a simple solution for this. Just alt-tab out of the game, then alt-tab again in to the game. Your mouse will work.

I had trouble at first as well, but I've gotten used to it by now and I don't have anymore problems.  Though it does sound like plenty of people haven't been able to adapt.

Pretty much this. Me and my wife don't find the controls as bad as people claim it to be. She's not even a seasoned gamer, mostly on mobile games.

The controls are definately more like a MMO, which I'm very familiar and comfortable with. The huge issue I'm having is holding basic attack key down for long periods of times, which has caused significant pain in my wrist and fingers. So I have no option but to quit the game until a patch/mod releases that allows me to bind the keys to prevent further injury.

Isn't there a shortcut for auto attack on keyboard? My wife use it all the time. Binded it to E and it's fine for her.

Do people use Q and E anyway? They're useless, just bind them for another use, potions for example. Just hold down right mouse button to move your camera.

I'm using keyboard and mouse, and 99% of the time I play in the realtime mode, simply because the tactical mode seems so very clunky. I would probably use it much more if I could zoom out more, and at an angle, not looking straight down. That just seems unnatural and uncomfortable to me. I should be able to get a good idea of the battle with a single glance, not thorough cumbersomely scrolling around.

It's funny, because before I tried it, I actually thought I'd be playing in tactical mode all the time, as I'm not a fan of real time combat without auto attack. As it is, I'm making do. I've gotten better at using the interface, but I'm still not a fan of it. I hope that they'll patch the system and make some changes to the tactical cam. Allow us to zoom out further, and to change camera angle as we like.
