ANYway, on a more serious note:
For the next game I'd like to suggest a slight change. Could it be possible for some (not all) of the romance choices to initiate the romance? In DAI, my inquisitor does all the pursuing which feels a bit one sided. Doesn't *anyone* have a crush on him? Lol

"omg everyone is so ugly!" - kidding, kidding. I had to. I just couldn't resist. No really I'm messing with you. Put down the alcohol, don't take that shot. It doesn't count. Lol

While I support it wholeheartedly, I think this is not going to happen again. There were way too many complaints because Anders had the audacity to express his interest in male Hawke's (although, apparently, the turn-down options weren't exactly the best either). I remember seeing one of the devs make a 'never again' type of statement around this in response to the diatribes.

It's so funny you mentioned this because I just remembered that a second ago - then shook my head.
I would've loved for Dorian to have flirted with my guy. But yes - homophobics have homophobia.
Notice no women complained about Isabela.

I also didn't see any gay guys complaining about Isabela.

Lol, they should. Just for kicks. JkI also didn't see any gay guys complaining about Isabela.
EDIT: It'd be an interesting feature to pick out your hero's sexual orientation in CC. You just select hetero, gay, or bi. That way no one complains. Throw in pansexual if they incorporate trans companions. I doubt that though.

I did like it how in previous games some of the LI would make the first move, but the whiners ruined it for everyone
We need a sexual orientation option in CC.

Well it would shut the whiners up I guess.

I don't like this idea at all, though. It effectively acts as a 'gay toggle', which is kind of offensive on some levels. People say that they want fully developed characters with a variety of sexualities that feel like 'real' people with 'real personalities', but then get offended when a character like Anders acts exactly as you would expect him to. He's irrational and moody and emotional and romantic. Of course, he'll flirt first. He was a shameless flirt in DA: A, so why wouldn't he flirt with male Hawkes in DA2? And, of course, he's going to get upset if you reject him. He's a total pill. It's exactly what I would expect from him.
Being able to toggle the gay flirts away only hurts the characterization and goes against what people are claiming that they want. Yes, you could also 'toggle off' straight flirts, but frankly, that's never been the issue with the complaints. Maybe it's just because gay people are used to having games assume you are straight, so we just let it roll of our back more easily? I don't know. I know that it might solve some problems, but it just feels wrong to me. Thankfully, devs have stated outright that this will never happen.
ETA: Note, I'm not referring to you as one of the 'complainers'. Just responding to the gay toggle aspect.

It is wrong. Completely wrong all the way. I suggested it more from a marketing perspective, which tends to be devoid of humanity or morals.
In truth people should stfu and deal with characters being gay.
Dorian is closeted, in a way. The player may never realize he's gay unless they take him to see his dad.
Hm. I feel bad that I used that situation as an opportunity to flirt. I'd have loved to experience him showing interest.

It bothered me how much you need to push for some of the romances. Particularly Cassandra's, where she flat out tells you that you can't be the man she wants/needs and you have to keep pushing anyway. I don't like the idea pursuing someone who has expressed disinterest, and it's what ultimately led me to doing Josephine's romance instead.
I didn't particularly like Anders creepy flirting two minutes after meeting him either, but some middle ground would be nice.

No way! I do not want my followers hitting on me. Absolutely not. I would fire anyone who hit on me at work in RL, so I would definitely have to kick them out of my party. And this is irrespective of their sexuality.
The whole notion of the romances in this game is disgraceful from the outset. As leader of the Inquisition you are in a position of authority over these people. You are their boss, and any flirting or sexual advances are an abuse of that authority. It is basically harassment. If teenagers or young adults playing this game think that this is acceptable behaviour, they will get a shock when starting in the workplace.

Just assume that everyone has a perfect gaydar and if you play a heterosexual male they know it. Having a toggle option is still preferable compared to having inconsistent, overly passive NPCs.
It's kind of a moot point, though, because several devs have stated that this will absolutely never happen because there are definitely icky implications that come with being able to toggle the gay away.
I'd much prefer to deal with the consequences of turning down someone I'm not interested in. It's totally fine and doesn't negatively affect my game in any way.

Well, options that are more balanced than "Yes", "Yes", and "No, screw you for even thinking about it that's disgusting" might be more appealing.

Not going to argue with that. It could have had more finesse. Even so, I can't tell you how many times I've had to be outright rude with female LI's or just avoid talking to them altogether in order to keep the game from defaulting me to straight. Looking at Liara, Ashley, Leliana, and Miranda. I've been 'ninjamanced' by all four of them just because I'm a nice guy. Just like real life. I've been turning down straight gals who have gotten the wrong idea for twenty plus years now. It's a curse.... ![]()

I had a similar problem the first time I played DAO, and quickly learned not to talk to Alistair much until after the relationship with Leliana was firmly established, lest I end up with a rose in my inventory. And poor old Wynne got pretty confused, too. She would go back and forth chastising me about being in a relationship with Alistair, then Leliana, etc.
I'm currently in my second play of ME and have not yet talked to Kaidan, but Liara still brought him up during the discussion about mutual interest.
The writers seem to be getting better about avoiding those types of scenarios.

I like this idea. It would need to come with a polite refusal option that doesn't "****** off" the pursuer (I think Anders gives you a pretty negative response if you shoot him down really early). I do find it odd, frustrating to have to pursue the relationships myself and not have SOME indication of the other character's interest in you.
And I don't see this as a boss/subordinate issue....this is war - the rules are not the same, as long as they don't get in the way of the goals of the inquisition itself. And any company in the real world should have an anti-boss/subordinate rule that is explicitly stated and discussed so that there is no confusion for a new employee to the work force.
