I just checked vgchartz for US sales, and the total console sales pretty much outsell the PC counterpart 5 times. Guess it's a reason why the PC version has console based UI...

PS 4:  182,803
XONE:  137,608
PC: 84,475
XBOX 360: 92,901
PS 3: 62,369

Edit: Some people claim digital sales for PC might boost up the amount, and it's obviously difficult to assess how many digital copies of DA:I is out there, but the digital edition of DA:I isn't any cheaper and probably has a hefty 25 GB+ size to download. I will expect no more than 20% extra digital sales for PC (I did some internet clicking). Just be reminded that this is all guesswork.

Edit 2: After some searching through BF4 sales, the sales for PC vs digital is approximately 1:1.5 copies, or a 150%. That sugges that PC sold about 210000 copies in total.

So it sold 500,000? Not sure how happy EA will be with that number. With the buzz being what it is around the game now, I think there's a legitimate worry that this may be it for DA.

This is why the game should have released in October when it was clear and safe instead on right after COD, Halo, Assasin Creed and the same day as GTA5.

I'm not sure why you rounded down by 60,000 units.

2 of those are from me, 1 on PC and 1 on Xbone. Not really familiar with RPG sales but this seems solid?

Probably these are not good numbers. Given the effort to turn DA:I into a bestseller, I'm concerned about the future of the franchise.

Thats a good question. Just inadvertance, really. Still I think these figures may even be lower than DA2 in the same timeframe which might mean the franchise is DOA.

That site does not track all sales.

so you're basing that on incomplete data from 1 country? You know DAO (the highest selling Bioware game ever) sold a total of 1.6m worldwide right? DA2 sold 750k

also, based on week 1 sales DAI is the best selling Bioware game to date

DOA? I'm sorry, but what does that mean? Never read it before and I don't find any coherent results googling.

VGChartz is not a reliable source for the record.

VGChartz doesn't take digital sales into account. Taking that into consideration as well as the fact these are apparently US only numbers, it may of sold very well.

500k of DAI? doubt that - too little. however if truth, it is a failure.

That would be Dead on Arrival. Surprising for a franchise that started in 2009 or so.

Shall we wait for all the electronic sales as well as the sales from ALL regions before predicting doom and gloom ?

You should should stop trolling numbers, VG reports numbers from Amazon ect, MS Sony Walmart Gamestop Bestbuy and so on do not post individual sales of software .

VGChartz is really not a reliable source for this kind of information, especially for PC where they don't track digital sales which make up the vast majority of sales.

Heh.  I haven't purchased a physical copy of a game since I started using Steam about 4-5 years ago.

No thank you.  I appreciate having a less buggier experience.

Hell it could still have used another month of polish (though the bugs I've experienced haven't been awful.  The worst was when my party kept running into cave walls instead of fighting the spiders that were eating my face off...)

I'm inclined to agree. Since we know that VGChartz doesn't track digital sales, I don't know why anyone uses it to measure PC games.

I don't know if EA reports digital sales but with the response with EA Access, I would imagine more people bought it with the discount. Honestly, I think it's too soon to judge sales figures with Black Friday and Christmas around the corner. The game will sell fine, IMO. But I doubt it will get Skyrim numbers. Either way, I think you can bet DA 4 will be a reality.

Also, as some have said, consider that these supposedly are U.S. sales only. The PC as a platform is notoriously weak in the U.S. market, whereas in the european games market it features more promintently. And since these are physical sales only...

In the end, only EA has the actual numbers. And seeing as they are neither moaning about bad sales nor hyping stellar sales so far, in my opinion it is likely DA:I is selling solid numbers. Not great ones, but solid.

Almost 500k first week retail sales in North America is a bad figure for you guys?

Sure it may not be a blockbuster but that is still a very impressive figure. That said, this game will have good legs account of good reviews and word of mouth. Don't worry, Dragon age is safe by a considerable margin.

VGChartz only tracks hard copy distribution.

None of the digitally distributed copies are accounted for. Those numbers have simply accounted for physical unit media sold at stores where product order fulfillment can be directly tracked and observed.

No sales of any game on Steam or Origin have ever been accounted for on that site. Its inaccurate in a lot of ways, in regards to how the modern industry works.

TLDR: VGChartz would say that Minecraft has only sold around 50,000 copies and it would be hilariously wrong.
