I just checked vgchartz for US sales, and the total console sales pretty much outsell the PC counterpart 5 times. Guess it's a reason why the PC version has console based UI...
PS 4: 182,803
XONE: 137,608
PC: 84,475
XBOX 360: 92,901
PS 3: 62,369
Edit: Some people claim digital sales for PC might boost up the amount, and it's obviously difficult to assess how many digital copies of DA:I is out there, but the digital edition of DA:I isn't any cheaper and probably has a hefty 25 GB+ size to download. I will expect no more than 20% extra digital sales for PC (I did some internet clicking). Just be reminded that this is all guesswork.
Edit 2: After some searching through BF4 sales, the sales for PC vs digital is approximately 1:1.5 copies, or a 150%. That sugges that PC sold about 210000 copies in total.
If you just take a step back and try to look at the case as; pc being just another platform the game is released instead of a console vs. pc mind; you may then understand or emphatise with the concerns of pc gamers. With this in mind; you may come to terms that the pc version deserves the same amount of love as any other platform. Some of the features we are talking about here are so basic,so simple and default to pc(such as tooltips) that; it nearly feels like something even beyond a direct port... I mean come on !
The global sales distribution of pc was marked as %92 digital for the year 2013. Now this may not reflect the position of a newly released title because of promotional sales, regional habbits etc. But you can safely assume something like %50 to %70 even considering these facts and EA data about digital sales. On top of that; digital sales means more profit versus physical because there are no longer production, distribution, middle man costs. Profit is nearly 2 to 1 vs. physical per game sold. And in the case of EA it would be much more as the Origin store is owned by them.
My estimate is somewhere around %20-25 for the pc. But the long tail advantage could push this number to as high as %30-35 of course with reduced earnings per sale.
Lets just suppose your table ended up reflecting the entire sales distribution, which is around %15(pc) for the lucrative early sales period. Even this number; could mean around %25-30 of the income would be coming from the pc on a conservative basis. And the absence of this number my friend; could easily tank any AAA budget title, not reaching or barely reaching the same league sales wise.
That is why pc is still a very important platform. And that is why the pc version should get the same amount of love as any other platform from a fundamental and economical perspective...
