If you read the first post carefully, it said that the information came from Vgchartz.
That 1:1.5 ratio came from battlefield 4 players registered against vgchartz numbers (Global PC numbers). But now that you put it that way, perhaps it is wrong to think that US digital sales = Global digital sales. US alone might account for much higher digital sales, although the global stats can still use the 1:1.5 figure.
The ratio is specifically the data I was asking about. I was aware the numbers were from vgchartz.
I'm not sure BF4 customers are comparable though.

3. DAO is not Biowares best selling game, Mass Effect 3 sold nearly 12 million within a few months after release.
Any source for that statement? Because i highly doubt this number.
I think they meant Mass Effect serie. Over 12 million sold is an bit older number but it was for all three games.
Back OT.
With new numbers looks like the opening week is more than twice as strong as DA2's.
VGC alone (retail only) shows over one million (1.15) from the first week (it took 2 weeks for DA2 to get to that number).
The next question is, what the following weeks trend is going to be.
Droping down steadily (or like a rock e.g. DA2)
Or some weird one going up and down randomly, like in case of DAO
We'll see in next weeks. For now, it looks good, so I have to congratulate Bioware for good opening week.

I'm not sure if there's any repercussions to explain Origin's players past hostility to it (and pretty much why I think very poorly of Origin in the past and still do not use it if I can help it), but generally speaking in an all neutral fashion with full honesty and hoping there's no rule on speaking about some of Origin's past...
- Origin used to have a time limit or something. If you were inactive for 24 months, they will delete your games and DLCs. This has now been changed to something else.
- Origin was able to take away your games if you got banned on EA forums. They have now changed this to the affected player to be able to play the single player mode (offline).
- Some people complained on how Origin scanned the computer without their permission (EA stated they only capture limited data for their products).
- Horror stories (Please note that this is the internet and I do not know if this ever happened.) on how Origin charged players twice and EA support personnel disabled the accounts when they called in to complain.
I'll state that I personally have not experienced all these horror stories (seeing that I haven't been banned and bought physical copies of the games and registered the keys), and did get nice download speed etc from Origin before, but I honestly did thought that people wouldn't really use Origin to buy the game if they had to.
But I'm wrong and I guess Origin has come a very long way compared to the past. I hope this explains why I perceived the Origin store to be significantly lower in sales for digital purchases.

Is download time actually a downside?
I just reinstalled DAO:UE from disc a couple weeks ago, and the process took quite a while, comparable to installing a big game from Origin or Steam.
It's supposed to be the other way around. Unless your disk drive was purchased at a garage sale in 1990.
Downloading this game from Steam, if you could, would take the average person much longer than a disk copy. It's a huge game. 25GB on PC.
Unless you have 100mbps download speed, which most people don't, then digital download is much slower.

It takes 3 hours on a cheap 20Mpbs ADSL.

It's worth noting the PC copies outnumber last gen consoles, but not by much.

It's also worth noting that VGchartz's figures are completely meaningless, as usual.
