I had boxed set and some dlc installed before and those worked fine. Then I purchased Ultimate edition from steam and installed it. I redeemed steam dlc codes. Got unauthorised content from the new dlc. Uninstalled everything. Installed Steam version only.
But now all dlc is missing and can not play the extension. Whole game looks like out of the box regular game. Game logs in to my account without problems. What to do?

Is it normal to be limited to only one character, all my other characters (including the ones on other my other computer) have the Blood dragon armour and working shale with no issues. Unfortunately the saves are waaay back and I don't want to replay all of redcliff.

After redeeming my code, all DLC appear on this site as autorized on my registered list of games ( http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php )
However, in game, they appear installed, enabled, but UNAUTHORIZED.
What can I do now?

I guess the non-srtandard root folder caused the Dragon Age updater not to start, even after rebooting the computer.
I went manually in the Windows's service manager, located the Dragon Age updater, noticed it was not started, and started it manually. My DLCs are now recognized in game.
Side note: I don't think that doing this kind of stunt should be a normal operation for normal customers. It is certainly doable by a lot of gamers, who usually are somewhat geeks too

I can see Awakening and that looks like it'll work, but everything else is unauthorised. I activated it here and have checked my services and I've started it manually and all. I also patched up to 1.04 and have tried logging in and out in game and in here - still not authorised.
I'm a bit stupid and am getting quite upset, so could somebody please help me?
---
Nevermind, was me being stupid. Got it working now. Missed a code, that's all.

I downlaoded all the DLC (I assume so as the game says I have it) and played it for a couple of hours.
Now I can't load my save file as all of my DLC, except Awakening, is suddenly unauthorised. I've updated the game and tried all of the steps in this thread and another. I can't even play it logged out.
What can I do now?

EA tech support finally suggested I uninstall DA and re-install it in my system drive (c drive). I don't have room in the system drive for a 12-14gb game or whatever. So that is not going to happen. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Hopefully, by this time, you have frigged around with the instructions found here:
http://social.biowar...613&lf=8#542935
This was the most helpful part for me, as the DAupdaterservice was never installed and started:
In case you don't have the exact same Framework version, etc... the Framework path won't work. I suggest you perform a normal file search in Windows for the file installutil.exe and note the full path and substitute your own folders to match.
You could also copy installutil.exe in your Dragon Age\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\bin_ship\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ folder and simply dragging DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe on installutil.exe. As you can see it's way too hard to list all the possibilities here. It shouldn't be to hard to adapt this to your folders locations for most users.
I'm not sure why 64bit users have two versions of install util (heck 4 if you count the utilities found in the v. 4.whatever of microsoft.net framework). Just try them all, and in admin mode. Copying them to the binship folder and dragging the updateservice file on to the install util file is the easiest way to do it. You don't have to use the command prompt using this method.
Finally, remember, this will only install the file, not start. Now you have to do the the whold services.msc rigamarole and start the daupdater service. Use the instructions found in the thread linked above.
I hope this will help. I will cross post in the unofficial thread.

I used the beta file linked in the OP to fix it, and it installed, and everything is working fine now. So if you check, and its not there, I'd just start with that.
What's really weird, is that I had DA: Origins installed (just the original) installed before i got the Ultimate off steam, and it was fine. I guess its as it says, one of the latest patches breaks it.

Well, I thought I would share in case this helps anyone. I have Win7 (64bit), and the DA service updater was not showing in the service.msc file after I installed the Ultimate version.

I cannot install said beta file. Whenever I try, a messege pops up suggesting I redownload the game.

1. Right click on command prompt in the start menu and Run As Administrator
2. CD to the folder steamapps\\common\\dragon age ultimate edition\\bin_ship
3. Run one of the following:
64-bit OS:
c:\\windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework64\\v2.0.50727\\InstallUtil.exe -i DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe
32-bit OS:
c:\\windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\InstallUtil.exe -i DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe
It should output a load of diagnostics that ends with "The commit phase completed successfully. The transacted install completed successfully."
4. The service should now be listed in services.msc (refresh it if its already open). Start it
5. Start the game and login
