This is even worse than the bugs in Bethesda games... If this issue isn't fixed soon i'm never buying another Bioware game

I've tried so much, and my game will still not work.

I downloaded this game off of steam, the ultimate edition... I authorized my DLC on this exact site, when I go to my profile, I can see all of the dlc's on my account. When I load up the game and try to play, it says I need to log in with an account that has the dlc authorized on it, so i log on to this bioware account and try to play, it still says i need to have an authorized account.

When I log out though, there is no (unauthorized) next to the dlc in the dlc menu under installed content. So I load up the game, but none of the dlc is there.

I CAN'T see wardens keep on my map, I found the man who gives the quest to return to ostagar, but when I actually try to return to ostagar, I get a black screen then get thrown back to the main menu with an error saying 'unable to load area'. Then I have to load my last save.

Someone please help, I spent fifty dollars on this game and I really don't want it to be a complete waste of time... Especially since no one on tech support or the forums at steam will help me.

Hi, i bought Dragon age origins ultimate edition from EA store few days back. I activate the game and its DLC codes. When i try to resume the game it says the save file requires premium account with the dlcs, even though i have logged in correctly. thanks :)

Ok, I finally figured it out. If you are a windows 7 64bit user, and are trying to install the daupdater service. You must do so using the Microsoft.net install util file found in the "Framework64" folder, and not the "Framework" folder. Also, remember to set the install util file to run in "Administrator" mode (I forgot to do this as I tried it the first time. I had done it for the install util in the "Framework" folder, but not the "Framework64" folder.

Hopefully, by this time, you have frigged around with the instructions found here:

http://social.biowar...613&lf=8#542935

This was the most helpful part for me, as the DAupdaterservice was never installed and started:

In case you don't have the exact same Framework version, etc... the Framework path won't work. I suggest you perform a normal file search in Windows for the file installutil.exe and note the full path and substitute your own folders to match.

You could also copy installutil.exe in your Dragon Age\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\bin_ship\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ folder and simply dragging DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe on installutil.exe. As you can see it's way too hard to list all the possibilities here. It shouldn't be to hard to adapt this to your folders locations for most users.

I'm not sure why 64bit users have two versions of install util (heck 4 if you count the utilities found in the v. 4.whatever of microsoft.net framework). Just try them all, and in admin mode. Copying them to the binship folder and dragging the updateservice file on to the install util file is the easiest way to do it. You don't have to use the command prompt using this method.

Finally, remember, this will only install the file, not start. Now you have to do the the whold services.msc rigamarole and start the daupdater service. Use the instructions found in the thread linked above.

I hope this will help. I will cross post in the unofficial thread.

It appears that you have fixed it, can you tell where to find "framework64" folder? kindly help. thanks.

The below worked for me too. I've got the Collectors edition on DVD, and just downloaded the Ultimate version from Steam. Starting the DAUpdaterSvc as below worked for me.

Ravenous Bugblatter Beast wrote...

I had the situation where the downloadable content was showing Unauthorized and the updater service was not listed in services.msc. The methods suggested did not fix it but the following worked.

1. Right click on command prompt in the start menu and Run As Administrator
2. CD to the folder steamapps\\\\common\\\\dragon age ultimate edition\\\\bin_ship
3. Run one of the following:

64-bit OS:

c:\\\\windows\\\\Microsoft.NET\\\\Framework64\\\\v2.0.50727\\\\InstallUtil.exe -i DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe

32-bit OS:

c:\\\\windows\\\\Microsoft.NET\\\\Framework\\\\v2.0.50727\\\\InstallUtil.exe -i DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe

It should output a load of diagnostics that ends with "The commit phase completed successfully. The transacted install completed successfully."

4. The service should now be listed in services.msc (refresh it if its already open). Start it

5. Start the game and login

I've got a dvd version of the game and I'm running windows 7, none of the suggestions offered seemed to work for my copy of Ultimate Edition.

I've registered the content and I have logged in and my DLC content is still unauthorized. I've made sure that it is in my services and running.

Please tell what I can do?

I found the DAUpdaterSvc.Service under the DA:UE/binship folder. However when I try to run it I get the following message which I don't understand and I would greatly appreciate it if someone could clarify it for me and tell me what I need to do:

Cannot start service from the command line or debugger. A Windows Service must first be installed (using installutil.exe) and then started with the Server Explorer, Windows Services Administrative tool or the NET START command.

None of that works, my content is still unauthorized

This can often be caused by a problem writing to the My Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Dragon Age\\\\Settings\\\\profile.dap file.  Make sure that the file is writable.  You can also try renaming the file to something else, and forcing the game to regenerate it, which it will do the next time you log in.  Achievements are also stored in this file, so you want to make sure you don't delete the old version until you're sure everything is working.  If your achievements have been uploaded to the social site they will be redownloaded to your computer when you log in.

I LOVE YOU. After over 6 hours with EA support (guess it's my fault for not coming here) you solved my problem. You are officially more competent than the EA support management. And you certainly care more than ANY of their employees, that I had contact with anyway.

Don't know if this will help anyone, but i fixed this (for the non-steam version) by going to msconfig, which can be found by typing msconfig in the search box, then by going to dao updater in the list of services and switching from manual to automatic i believe, after that it authorized my content, because before i did this the updater wasn't activated.

Thought I should share this, hope it helps someone.

EDIT: (insert facepalm hereImage IPB) I should have read through the whole text, missed it at 5, don't mind meImage IPB

Hmm. I just casually noticed that my Blood Dragon Armor chest plate was gone, and that Bodhain wasn't selling the rest of the pieces. Apparently, the game decided it wasn't for me at some point. Going back throug my saves, it would seem sometime a few hours back. I really can't be bothered to go back two hours, especially since it's two hours of pure talking. Anyway, as I take it, there is no way to get the Blood Dragon Armor back in my save, right? In that case is there a decent save game editor? I really want the Blood Dragon Armor back, but considering this game has been nothing but trouble, I might just stop playing altogether. Truly, this is the first game I've played where the programmers ought be ashamed of their product, and yes I've completed New Vegas.
