Absolutely none of this worked.
What exactly is your problem? We can troubleshoot, but it's probably best to post in a new thread.

I tried to rename the profile.dap file as well, including everything else. still all my downloaded content says unotherized, while it should not be. I've tried everything. It is really annoying.
I thought I manage to get one of the contents to work, but then when I tried to start it (leiliana song) (spelling is over rated

I'm an "old skool" player who payed for every single bit of content with game points. All this content, except DOA and Awakenings, are now unplayable. And it's got nothing to do with redeem codes, Steam installs or any ultimate edition stuff! You won't believe all the things I've done:
- reinstalled the game three times
- renamed the .dap file
- (re)installed every single patch
- changed the RequiresAuthorization value in the addins.xml file (this seemed to work, but when starting Leliana's Song, or Witch Hunt, it says : unable to load module
- Restarted the Content Updater service about one million times
- Rebooting windows, banging my head on the keyboard, pouring 12 year old whiskey through the USB slots of my pc...
Nothing!
When I go to "registered game promotions" it lists all the content I payed for. Which means my account is still authorized to run all these DLCs. Unfortunately the game keeps laughing at me with a big "unauthorized" across the screen. Boohoo...

Find the Dragon Age Update Service, and force it to start automatic.
Solved my problem at least.

As quoted:
It took me many hours troubleshooting and trying others' great guides before I finally figured out my issue. I have tried to make this guide as easy to follow as possible for someone not very good with computers. If you have questions, please ask. I hope this helps someone!
1) Click Start>Run type services.msc
2) Scroll down to find "Dragon Age:Origins - Content Updater" - verify that "Status" column is empty
3) Right click on the service and click Start
4) Do you get an error informing you the service did not respond? If so, this is your first indication that my guide may help you.
5) Navigate to C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age ultimate edition\\bin_ship
6) Double-click on DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe to launch the executable. This is the service you were trying to start in step 4.
7) Do you get an error stating the exe "failed to initialize"? If so, the steps below will probably fix your issues.
8) Navigate to C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age ultimate edition\\redist
9) Double-click "vcredist_x86.exe" to install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. When this is finished (status box goes away), proceed to the next step.
10) Navigate to C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age ultimate edition\\redist\\NetFx20SP2_x86
11) Double-click Setup.exe to install the Microsoft .NET Framework. This may take 10 minutes or so depending on your computer.
12) Do steps 1, 2, and 3 again. This time, the service should launch and the Status column should say "Started". If the service does not launch, proceed to step 13.
If it does, launch Dragon Age and check your downloadable content, all should be fixed. If not, use step 12a
12a) If the service launches but does not enable your DLCs, exit the game, reboot, verify the service is started via steps 1, 2, and 3. Wait 10 minutes, then launch DA and check again. If it still doesn't work, you can try step 13.
12b) If you find that when shutting down your PC and then starting DA in the future, your DLCs are Unauthorized again, proceed to step 13.
13) You should be here if the service did not launch or your DLCs revert back to Unauthorized. In Services.msc (via Step 1), right click on the "Dragon Age:Origins - Content Updater" and click Properties.
14) On the "General" tab, click the drop down menu for "Startup type" and select Manual.
15) On the "Log On" tab, select the "This Account" radio button for the "Log on as:" menu.
15a) Click the Browse... button, type the username of an account that has Administrator rights (probably the username you log in with) and click "Check Names" to verify you've entered it properly. Click OK. You will go back to the "Log On" tab. Proceed to next step.
15b) Enter your password for the account you specified above. Click Apply. Then click OK. You should be back at Services.msc.
16) Verify the service starts via steps 1, 2, and 3. If you got here via step 12b, verify that your DLCs to not revert back to Unauthorized by shutting down DA, rebooting, then re-launching DA.
If these steps fixed your issue, enjoy your game. It's a great one!
If you are still getting errors launching the service, I would uninstall the game and re-download/install it. The service failing to launch has nothing to do with codes not being redeemed, and everything to do with 1) insufficient privileges on the account launching the service, 2) run-time support files not being present (both 1 and 2 should be fixed if you used the above steps), and/or 3) a corrupt service executable or corrupt support files for the service. Re-downloading and re-installing might fix number 3.
If these steps do not fix your issues, there is something else going on that I did not encounter and we will have to wait for some poor other soul experiencing your issue to troubleshoot it and post the resolution. Sorry!
PS: Steam - please make sure to code your installers better so every redistributable required for the game actually gets installed, and services are setup with the proper permissions to launch. Sloppy coding means people like me have to waste hours troubleshooting your mistakes.

This can often be caused by a problem writing to the My DocumentsBiowareDragon AgeSettingsprofile.dap file. Make sure that the file is writable. You can also try renaming the file to something else, and forcing the game to regenerate it, which it will do the next time you log in. Achievements are also stored in this file, so you want to make sure you don't delete the old version until you're sure everything is working. If your achievements have been uploaded to the social site they will be redownloaded to your computer when you log in.
I recently uninstalled the Ultimate Version (right-clicking on Steam and deleting local content) and deleted all files in the Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age folder except Characters and re-installed the game via Steam. After re-installing, all the DLC's downloaded but were unauthorized. Turns out that the profile.dap was the problem as I renamed it and after the game generated a new one everything worked fine. Cheers!

I purchased DA:O when it first came out (from Steam), played the heck out of it and then stopped, moving on to other things. I didn't really bother with the DLC. I then, last night, purchased the ultimate edition from Amazon and installed it. I signed in with the same account both times (the same account that says that I have everything online, but doesn't say I have anything authorized in-game). I now own two copies of the base game and one copy of everything else, and can't access ANY of the DLC. Is this some kind of conflict that arises from having bought the game twice from different places, and if so, is there some sort of fix? I somehow can't imagine EA wants to penalize me for buying things more than once.
Plenty of people have run into issues with this, from various causes. See the Solutions Round-up, linked below in my signature.

Some people have reported issues with getting stuck at the loading screen travelling to Ostagar while playing the Return to Ostagar DLC. It appears that this issue is related to Return to Ostagar not getting properly installed. Try manually reinstalling Return to Ostagar to resolve this issue.
Return to Ostagar
Right click on the above link and select “Save Target As”, or the equivalent in your browser. Save the .dazip file to your computer. If your browser tries to rename it to a .zip file, rename it back to .dazip after download.
Find the daupdater.exe application, it is usually located in the bin_ship directory in your Dragon Age Installation (For example C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\daupdater.exe) Double click on it to open it.
Click on Select DAZIPs. Navigate to where you have saved the .dazip file and open it.
Now the .dazip file will appear on the Install tab. Select it on the list and click Install Selected
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have this problem, but the instructions, here, are over my head: "If your browser tries to rename it to a .zip file, rename it back to .dazip after download."
I have no idea what this means, what I'm looking for, or how to "rename" the file. I went to the daupdater.exe folder, but the file is not there after downloading and extracting from 7zip. How do I get the file into this?
I have a sinking feeling that my lack of file movement or placement-knowledge is about to spell the end of my computer gaming, as I'm running into more and more of this complicated work-arounds, and I am not capable of performing them, unless I want to spend hundreds of dollars letting a computer repair shop install the games for me. It figures; just as I get a rig that can play them, I still can't play them.
