I think I just will download a crack and will never be bothered with the updateservice crap again, all it ever did was causing problems and since I paid a large amount of coins I think I'll get my rightful enjoyment of the good Dragon Age game.

Ubisoft + EA (Bioware) = <3 :P

I'm not able to play while logged in now either. It worked yesterday. If I stay signed out, I can continue my game with all active DLC. But if I sign in, I can't continue. Unauthorized, it says.

I have the same problem. The only way I get to play, is if I am logged out. It is quite annoying really.
Hopefully somebody will find a solution for this soon.

Very disappointing that this issue started a year ago and it's still popping up. I've tried everything listed here and I still can't get any results. Crippling issues like this should be the focus of investor meetings, not piratebay. DRM never seems to bother the pirates anyway, it only gets in the way of the people who are still willing to pay for these games.

Here we go again, I managed to get it work on last computer by making it into .bat file that manually started update service, but now that I switched computers to one where I can actually play the game with full graphics, I find myself unable to authorize the dlc. This is the damn problem with buying games these days, everything's so protected that it ends up punishing those of us who pay. Its not like those who pirate their copy have this problem...

Anyway, since so many people seem to be suffering from it now, maybe its just servers being down or something else on their side? Since it'd appear a lot of posts have been done just recently. Can anyone confirm wether its possible to log in and keep a save that you started logged out if we need to play logged out for now?

after a reinstall because of 'unauthorized content' all the three pages (downloadable-installable-installed) are black, even my BW points won't update. All I see is two '--'. I installed the game yesterday, I could install all DLCs and tried to cheat a bit (I know... :) ) to get a save game for DA 2.
After typing the console command and using, it at second start I got the 'unauthorized' line for my DLCs. But now it won't work! I tried it 3 times with all of the help I could find here...
So it's a bit irritating... or the servers are down?

Same problem. Suddenly the game won't let me load my saves, claiming that my DLC content is unauthorized. I've tried every solution in this thread, no luck.

Try logging out and don't log back in. Stay logged out and resume your game. That works for a lot of people so far.

I'm having a similar problem. I bought the Ultimate edition from Impulse digital download and was able to play with all the dlc until yesterday, when all of a sudden it says enabled (unauthorized) and I cant load any of my saves. It says log in with an account that has access to the dlc, but i'm logged in with the same account I have been using, and the dlc are all listed under registered content on the profile. I know they are on my machine but I cant load any of my saves. Anyone have any idea whats going on? It seems to me like a problem with the ea servers.

This is something that happened to me last night when i tried to play the game. I certainly have fully paid for all the DLC yet it is unauthorized and I cant play the game as I wish to. I contacted EA live chat support a short time ago and here's what they have to say:

---

Me;- Hello, I have an issue with Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition on Steam for the PC, Mysteriously all of my DLC has becomes unauthorized and I am unable to proceed with the game

Rolf of EA;- I Sincerely regret any inconvenience caused due to this issue.

Rolf of EA:- I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. This is a temporary issue and our engineers are already aware of this. They are working to resolve this as soon as possible. I would advise you to please wait for some time and then try again to login and play the game online. If the issue persists, you can contact us again. We will be happy to assist you.

---

Lets see how quickly this does get resolved....

same here, logged out DLC is fine, but if I log in it becomes unauthorized. Was going to pick up witch hunt to get the last bit for a dragonage II start, but Im not touching this with a 10 foot pole till you get it fixed.

I bought the ultimate edition today. I'd played through origins and awakening multiple times with most of the dlc before but it was all pirated and I felt bad for not having payed for such an amazing game. I particularly felt bad after I'd payed for DA:2, it being such a steaming pile of mediocratey and all.

I'd like to play this game, this is ridiculous. When I pirate the game, it's super easy. Install, crack, install dlc, crack, play. No issues. I pay money, and drm won't let me play the game. This is supposed to stop piracy? Really?

This is exactly what happened to me, also... I'd been playing some daily, with frequent saves, and suddenly my save games are failing to load (unauthorized DLC).  I tried the troubleshooting here, to no avail.

Help, please!

Found a solution in another thread.

hanibal.gr wrote...

guys i have the solution and it works 10000000% promise so this is what you have to do

Locate AddIns.xml in "C:/Users/(Username)/Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings" and edit it using WordPad or any XML editor. Replace *all* RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0".

Run the game and check to see if everything worked!

if it worked say it here so that the others can see that it worked

Thank you, works for the Mac versions as well.

For those running DA in Mac, I found the file in my Documents section, but I didn't do a standard install, so it may be in Application Support. I'll supply both locations below.

-- Macintosh HD / Users / [username] / Documents / BioWare / Dragon Age / Settings
-- Macintosh HD / Users / [username] / Library / Application Support / BioWare / Dragon Age / Settings

Gotta love it when you downloaded the 20 something gb file from EA and everything is unauthorized, then after days and dozens of attempts to fix the stupid game it says it needs to be reinstalled. Which deletes the entire game out of being. Even though the EA downloader is set to keep the installer files after the instal, it didn't. Same thing with battlefield BC2, no installer files left. So 2 out of 3 games didn't do as requested and the 3rd doesn't even work, or even exist now, because I did what it told me to. It takes a full day to download, using the full 5mbit connection, and qwest will probably send me a warning letter, if I download it again. What a ripoff. Not going to spend money with EA directly anymore.

I have been playing with the DA Origins - Ultimate Edition for a while.
Yesterday I finally got around to attempting to go to Soldier's Peak.  But, the map icon never shows up.
I've found this bug mentioned on the forums, but I have not found a fix that works.

I have tried removing Warden's Keep from enabled content, restarting the game, and then enabling it again.
I went back to my oldest save for the current character, the first time leaving Lothering, and it won't activate there either.
One solution that looked likely was to run the developer console.  But, I don't have a daorigins.exe anywhere.  Nor do I see any other .exe that looks like the main game.  I tried doing it with the DAOriginsLauncher.exe, but that didn't activate the console.  So I don't know how to turn it on.  My install is from Stardock/Impulse, so maybe it's different than the retail install.

On a related note, it's quite possible that Stone Prisoner isn't working either.  At least, there's nothing on my map for it.  But I don't know what triggers it to start or be available.

I did have a problem with all the DLC becoming unauthorized a couple of days ago.  But that I got resolved and everything looks properly authorized and enabled.
