After ****ing about doing just about everything there was, I got it working.
Ok first off I want to say that I appreciate that BioWare is atleast not ****ting me down the throat the way Fable 3 is, where my character is still falling through the world endlessly and my 25hour game has been ruined by a gamebreaking bug that is 10 months old and not patched or even solved, and there is no help to be found from Lionhead.
BUT. This is ****ing inexcusable, I have to spend almost an hour of ****ing about to fix a problem on a product I bought?
Before fanboys devour me and defend Bioware for no apparent reason but to do so, I will put this allorgy forth:
Imagine you'd buy a Car, but then you notice your car has no interior at all. You bought a car with interior design, seats, stereo and all that. But it isn't there. Now normally this would be the car salesmans problem, who'd then fix it for you and make it the car manufacturers problem; Point is, it would not be your problem and it would not have to be YOU who fix it.
Here, I am asked to build my own ****ing interior for the car and then drill and fix that **** myself.

I paid for a product, why the hell do I have to google, download programs and dwelve into services (which btw is a dangerous file to **** around with mind you) because YOU, Bioware, won't fix it FOR me?! Why doesn't your own program fix this for me?

Kepha was not in Bioware's employ, that any of us knows of, when she compiled her article. This is a Gamer to Gamer Self-Help forum, and after well over a year of ignoring this forum, some few Bioware people are here again, watching a selected few subjects.

This thread is not among those. Bioware isn't in it here, so you are wasting space better used for other things of more value than you venting your spleen. The complaints department is on the EA Help pages, not here.

We uninstalled and re-installed the game in trying to fix a problem which turns out was the Avast quarantine of a DAO file. Now it tells us that several of our DLC is "unauthorized" even though it's in our registered game content list. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the affected DLC several times. As it is we can't load old saves even when not logged in- old saves that were made with those DLC active won't load at all.

GAH. This makes me wish we'd never gotten those stupid DLC. They should not tie the DLC to regular game content, such that the regular game is unplayable if there's an issue with the DLC.

The pinned threads on top are up there as "Stickies" specifically to help new arrivals cope with problems. Hemis H's article on dealing with DLC problems has the most up to date information for ordinary situations. For some less ordinary cases, there's a patch to the forum's DLC software in the works (as per the Sticky on that subject).

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/81613/105#7528395

In any case, when you have problems that neither the archives nor the stickies can resolve for you, then you refer to Raen's discussion of what you do next. I don't think you paused to take advantage of any of those three pinned posts.

Then they should be here, and I think damn well that Kepha understands I'm not wenting at him/her since I'm obviously ranting on Bioware and not the topic writer.

The fact that a private person has fixed this and not Bioware is even worse.

@Addai: If you happened to save off your settings folder from before the reinstall you can replace the current one and simply play offline. The last time the authorization went haywire it was finally tracked to an EA server that wasn't even under BioWare's control.

If you are on Windows 7 or Vista, the easiest fix is to navigate to Documents\\Bioware\\DragonAge\\Settings and restore those files to a date when the DLC was authorized. To do this, right-click on each file. Select properties. A wi Dow will pop up. Select the far right tab and select "Restore Previous Version" or the equivalent. A list of previous versions should come up. Select one with a date before the deauthorization and confirm that you wish to restore. Do this for all files in the settings folder that have changed since the DLC became unauthorized. If you have your game set to auto-login, disconnect from the internet and start the game up. Set the game to not log in automatically. You can reconnect to the internet at any point after this Your DLC should now show as authorized and you should be able to play with no issues. Just don't log back in until the next patch is out.

If you are not on Windows 7 or Vista or there isn't a previous file version available to restore, there is a long list of possible problems and solutions in the solutions roundup thread pnned to the top of this forum.

I have errors with buying the Dragon Age Bundle pack. I bought it via Impulse downloaded it and all, now when I go in game. I try and play and it says how I must be signed into an EA account that purchased the Downloadable content to use it........WTF?! It never said anything about needing an EA account so now I create this and It still says DLC will not be active unless I sign into an account that has the DLC bought.......I am steaming mad right now that it does this. Does anyone have this problem as well? Better yet do you have any solutions? I Really, let me repeat, REALLY need this fixed or my computer is going through a wall. I bought the ultimate edition and DA2, none of the content works...at all, it says it is installed and enabled but won't work without a Account from EA with *Purchased* material. Bull crud I spent money all ready to get it and now it wants more? If there is no fix, Impulse and EA can say good bye, well, at least there sites can. Still need a Fix....badly

First, if you haven't already you must register the DLC code to your account on this site and you must sign in to that account in-game for your content to authorize. If you are having difficulty after doing that, there are a number of things that can cause the problem, the solutions to which are linked in the first post of the solutions round-up thread pinned to the top of this forum.

I have done all of those solutions, none work including the bit at the bottom.....I look at what content is unlocked on my profile and They only say Dragon Age 2 Content is Available and yet when I go in game and Check it on Downloadable content, it says all of they Content for DA Ultimate edition are installed....just unauthorized. I have tried all I could find so far and none of it works. I read the read me file of everything. I downloaded it via Impulse, not steam. therefore when it downloads it just downloads the ultimate edition and gives only a registry code for that. Says in readme to activate it via Promo, Doesn't give Codes for DLC in Impulse, only Dragon Age Ultimate edition. A thing to note is that Apparently I have Awakening and nothing else of the DLC. I am really confused and I'd like to really get a hold of someone who is part of the...well....see I wouldn't know what it is called, but the people who made EA, or the game or something of the sort, but alas I can not. If you know what is going on please help. I am clueless.

FINALLY, I fixed it. Woo!, hints here and there would help if I weren't so blind. Apparently, Impulse puts there DLC Codes on their first game run info. A "B" To find but I found it, for those of you who are confused like me, Try right clicking your games in Impulse....that is if you got it via Impulse. Click View First game run info, It will give you promo code for DLC. Ahhhhhh.......Don't you love Rage?

Hi. I'm not sure if this counts as the infinite loading error, but when I tried doing RtO the game crashes at random points & I can't load a save that I made in Ostegar.

Also I started another character & I'm getting ready for the battle. When I try to go to the tower the game crashes.

In both cases the crash gives no warning. Just a black screen for about 1 second & then I'm at my desktop. I've tried reloading RtO as instructed & that didn't work.

BTW I have Dragon Age Origins Ultimate v1.05. I had 1.04 on Steam but had authorization issues & downloaded it via Origin to get 1.05.

Best bet would be to start your own thread, and give us specs of your machine and all the details as listed by the how to post sticky.  Anything less would make giving anything less than a guess impossible.

I recently reinstalled DAO and now SP, WK and RtO DLC are all unauthorized for some reason. I have logged in and out several times, no luck. I have tried starting the DAO updater manually as is suggested in this thread and I have tried running the game as adminstrator (I have windows 7) but nothing works.

This is so screwed up, it all worked fine last time I had the game installed.

As suggested many times on this page alone, this thread is out of date. The solutions round-up thread pinned to the top of this forum has more fixes linked. That should be your first stop. You can also try the 1.05 beta patch which resolves all authorization issues, but can cause long load times, so attempting a manual fix using the solutions in the solutions round-up thread should come first. If you require assistance, this thread is not the place to post. See the read first thread for posting guidelines and create your own thread.

Kepha YOU ARE A STAR THANK YOU SO MUCH! I saw another thread with way more fixes but I found that too complicated to understand as the parts that referred to being unauthorised where all over it... my solution was so simple - just to delete the profile.dap file and I'm reauthorised. Thanks!!! :)

Darker_than_black I'd suggest you try that too. The last paragraph of Kepha's first post. :)

Yeah. Read the stickies. Especially the one that says "read first" and maybe even the ones that mention DLCs (though Awakening was available on retail disc too). Then start a new thread if you still need help.

"stickies" are the threads at the top of the forum you have just posted in! They are dead centre in vision, when you arrive at http://social.biowar...tegory/58/index . Naturally, http://social.biowar...8/index/7280573 starts with "read first" for a reason.

There could be more consolidation I think, as it's a bit cluttered at the top of the forum.  But the information is right in front of you before you can hit "post new topic".
