Is this a new profile.dap, or one that you copied over from your other install?  As a somewhat drastic measure you could delete it.  Your achievements should redownload from the server, the only issue is I'm not sure if you'll have re-unlock your specializations.

Bingo! That was the trick! Renamed the profile.dap (which was a new one), started the game (saw three "Steam has finished DLing"-msgs, but to fast to clearly read them), logged in and everything works. Resumed game and have the helmet in the inventory.

Many thanks!

Even after all of that it is still ****ing up. God knows I paid for all of the downloadable content so that should not even be an issue. I also installed the new 1.03 patch and my problems gotten worse since then. It isn't my system either. Why does a paying customer have to spend hours fixing a problems that is obviously on your end. That's just ****ing bull****. All you people care about is getting a sub-standard products out and revenue in and **** the customer in thne process.

To reinterate, it is to the point now, since the installed 1.03 patch that I can only play for about 15 minuntes before I have to save again, exit the game entirely, re-open it, click on configure and run a scan, before i can play again-- for another fifteen minutes, before the games  crashes again-- in one form or several others. It isn't just one thing. It is a series of different events that occur --as described in the damn FAQ.

I just saw on my bank statement that Gamespot debited my account for the Awaking expansion pact. I wonder now if that was a good idea, buying the game. How many bugs will be in this one and will our main characters really transfer to the Awakening. Anyone wont to wager that it will fail? I spent a lot of money on this game and I want it to work 110% of the time: every time.

Jallard, if you have an issue with the patch, and/or want to rant about it, that's more appropriate to the various Patch 1.03 specific threads. This thread is for helping with DLC related issues.

Aren't those that I spoke of DLC related issues as well? Don't BS me lady, I wasn't born yesterday. However, I do want Bioware to fix the problems ASAP. I do have friends in high places and can make life miserable for both Bioware and EA Games in the media and in the courts. I am not without influence.

Weill, i have a similar issue here, but with a twist:

Win7, 64

Every DLC DLed and installed correctly and shows up in the tab. But "Stone Prisoner", "Warden's" and Blood Armor are signed as unauthorized. So, after a lot of fiddeling and trying (the usual stuff, services, manually reinstall the two Offers and so on...) following pattern can be observed:

  • Launching Service.
  • Launching Game (auto Log In, while starting logged off doesn't change anything)
  • Go to DLC.
  • Stone and Warden's is able to be bought, in the installed tab marked as unauthorized (plus bloodarmor).
  • LogOut - LogIn
  • Aviable DLs goes empty, all DLC jump to normal, authorized status.
  • But when I uncheck Stone, Warden's or the armor, these three jump back to unauthorized.
  • It doesn't work, when I hit load or resume, while the DLCs "appear" to work.
One, maybe important thing I saw: (I'm still at the start of loithering) Armor isn't in inventory (btw, never was before), warden's keep isn't on the map (still have to see, if Levi will appear, will the location be unlocked?), but sulcher's Pass is on the map. I asume, because of the missing Blood Armor Helmet, that it doesn't work. I will play through loithering to see, if anything changes. I could live without the armor, but it nags me anyway.

Any ideas on this issue? (FYI, I tried everything from verifying Steam files to the diag Beta, both worked without errors)

If your still at the start of loithering then none of the things will show up until you exit via the wold map and save the two dwarves at the exit point then you will go to camp and all the offers will show up.

Yes, Dragon Age DLC is designed to be downloaded from within the game.  There are enough hiccups with this process that there is a rather extensive Redeemed DLC Troubleshooting FAQ

As a first step, try manually starting the Dragon Age Origins Content Update Service before you start the game.
1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START

Thanks for the great faq, it helped me out when Sten lost the Blood Dragon armour!

Not sure how old this bug is, but are there any indications a fix is in the pipeline. I'm constantly having to check the map to make sure Soldier's Keep hasn't disappeared off the map while I play.

Thanks for creating this great guide. You are an asset to the community!

I recently had some DLC errors, and went about deleting the manifest.xml and the problematic half downloaded DLC. It eventually fixed itself, and everything is working just fine.

An issue cropped up though. A majority of the DLC is now sitting in the Download tab. All of these DLC in said tab are already downloaded and installed. I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of them. Just going with it and telling the game to download and install again just ends up in it downloading the content, then having an installation error (my assumption is because it's already installed, so it won't reinstall).

Is there something I should be deleting, or something I should do to get the game to recognize what is already downloaded/installed to clear the list?

Actually you shouldn't be getting an installation error if you reinstall a DLC that is already installed, it should just install over it.

Try clearing the download cache. Both through the configuration utility and by going to C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\ (on Win7 its c:\\Users\\All Users\\Bioware\\Dragon Age) and deleting the DAUpdater directory.

They really won't hurt anything showing up there, but if they really bother you, you'll likely need to delete both the manifest.xml file and the addins.xml file, But deleting addins.xml will essentially uninstall all your DLC and force it all to be redownloaded again.

Thanks much Kepha! That fixed it. Redownloading the DLC was a small price to pay for my peace of mind. Damned O.C.D.

hello, i'm having a some issues with my DLC items on Dragon age origins: Awakening, none of my DLC items seems to show up, tried to use different saves, but it seems that the expansion set does not recognize any. I have been browsing this tread for a while but i can't find anything related to it, did someone have the same issue? i have already checked all my authorizations and they are correctly approved, plus they work perfectly in DaO.

Help plz? thanks!

If you check out the Awakening General Discussion Forum, or the awakening bug threads in this forum, you will find multiple threads discussing the fact that only DLC items from Return to Ostagar will be imported into Awakening.  There are some technical issues with the other DLC preventing import that Bioware decided not to take the time to fix.  There is a mod floating around that can fix this, but I don't have the link handy.

guys im having a different kind of issue with the DLC´s as far as i read here, i had SEVERAL problems during awakening´s installation, so i decided to fresh install everything and saved only my characters, it worked at last, and i had to use that Addins.xml trick to be able to play the expansion

But after this process, i was unable to reinstall all my DLC´s, when i open the DAupdater and select the dazips and then i press "install", it goes ok till the end, just to be showed as error, and not install at all

any clue?

What is the error?

If the updater has a problem writing to the addins.xml file it will fail.  Pre-awakenings I would have recommend you just delete the file and see if that helps.  If you had to "install" awakenings by updating the addins.xml file by hand (that is the addins.xml trick you refer to, right?), I would suggest that you rename/delete that addins.xml file, let the game generate a new one when you install all the DLC, and then edit the Awakenings info back in.

the error shows up in the updater itself, where should be saying "installed" it says error when i try, but i made a full reinstall of everything, and installed the DLC´s before installing the awakening, and for my surprise, i didn´t have any kind of error during the instalation of all content, but when i imported my character, it was completely naked and without any dlc equipment, not even in the equipment tab or the personal storage, he only had 3 books to earn skills and stuff, but anyway, i just kept playing like that and that´s fine for me, just wondering if it´s normal or just my problem

i tot i´d go to awakening full equiped and with dragon armor, idk
