Hello

I have a big problem with my DLC. My english is kinda bad but i will try to explain it.

The first problem i had was that nothing appeared in the 3 tabs at the DLC section In game.
There i upated my Dragon age updater and  finally The stonekeeper showed in game. I downloaded it, but it did not show up in The installed section. But i went online and checked anyways . There my journal updates and i now have the quest. I went to feilx and pushed the buttom "Take the rod(Download DLC)" and it now stands that the download is under progress. But when i check it stands "Download complete". I then restarted the game and went online again to talk with him. And when i now take the option "Take the rod((Download DLC)" it now stands that i have to buy bioware points to get it. And when i exit the game and go to the DLC section it stands that i have to buy The stonekeeper there to. So i went on "Configure" and there i click on "Clear download Cache" and nothing happens. Ive also tried to open the game as Admin.

Please help me! (If there is something you dont understand please say so)

As a first step, try manually starting the Dragon Age Origins Content Update Service before you start the game.
1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START

Have you checked that your Dragon Age Origins Content Updater service is running?  (See Section 5 of this FAQ).  Without it the game can't verify that you actually own the content and will continue to offer it for purchase.  Without the service running, you really can't get the DLC installed and running properly.  Make sure that The Stone Prisoner is authorized on the Installed Content tab before you go to Felix and ask to Take the Rod.

The game is supposed to start the service when you start the game, so the setting of "Manual" or Automatic" in the Services List doesn't matter much.  Automatic will set it to start when the computer restarts, but the game will also shut the service down when its done, so it doesn't matter much.  Either Patch 1.03 or the Service Diagnostic Beta will improve the reliability of the service starting upon game launch, but even with those I still have issues where I start the game and the DLC is unauthorized.  If check the service it has started, and if I exit the game and restart things are fine, so I still think there's a timing issue where the service isn't getting started fast enough.  In that case the best answer is, unfortunately, just to manually start it when you want to play.

Ok I have a doozy..

I bought this great game yesterday and it came with a voucher for 2 DLC's (Shale and some armour). I installed the game, patched it to 1.03. Then started the game, logged in and downloaded the DLC's. Both are now 100% but the info screen for both show a red 1 in the version section.

When playing the game, the armour (and Shale) don't show up, so does this mean I can't patch my game to 1.03 if I want to access the DLC's?

Any help/advise will be much appreciated.

Hi all,
Ok so I have just been hit with an interesting problem. I recently found out my blood dragon armor, ring of fire and Bergens Honor items have all disappeared. I tried all of the fixes posted on the forums to no avail.  (Manually dl, unenable force load etc)The strangest part is they are only missing on 1 saved character.  All my existing or new characters work fine. They all show downloaded installed etc.   Anyone have any ideas?

same problem here. can't find any solution. I've got previous savegames of this character where the armor does work but they are to far back. disabled all other dlc I had and tried it but didn't work either so it isn't a conflict problem. tried reinstalling it. tried force load way. tried the diagnostic tool. nothing helped.

I'm playing with an elfen female mage (i've downloaded the elfen female fixed verion yes) and version 1.03 of the game. it shows as downloaded and it is enabled. its also redeemed right.

Unfortunately the game does not message installation problems very well, and implies that there is a version
incompatibility when there isn't.  As long as you have a higher version then the DLC requires then the version is fine.

To resolve your installation problems:
* Clear the Download Cache.  From the game launcher select "Configure", then when the configuration utility
launches go to Repair, and click on "Clear Download Cache".
* Delete the My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\Manifest.xml file.  It
might also be necessary to delete the Addins.xml file in the same directory, but that will effectively uninstall all DLC and addons (including Awakenings), and they would all need to be reinstalled.
* Make sure your My Documents directory is located on the C: drive.  Right click on USERNAME\\My Documents and select Properties.  Go to the location tab, and if the path is not on the C: drive, click on Restore
Default to move it back.  You can move it back later after the DLC installs.
* If your Windows Region and Language settings are not set to English (United States) set them to that until the DLC installs.

If none of that works, try manually installing the DLC .  Links and instructions are in section 4 of the Redeemed DLC Troubleshooting FAQ.  Even if the manual installation process fails it will usually give
better error messages to help figure out what's going wrong.

Now that you have everything installed, try loading a save from before you ever talked to Felix and see if that works?  I have heard problems if you talk to Felix before you have the stone prisoner installed and can't successfully install it right then.  Otherwise you can try using the Developers Console to warp to Honnleath and just bypass Felix.

Likely the game stripped them from your one character at one point when it got confused about the DLC state, and decided you didn't have the rights to own them.  Any saves you made afterwards are bad, and have the items missing..  Now that they've broken Force Loading in Patch 1.03, there's no easy way to get them back.  The only option is to go back to an earlier save when they exist.  (And yes, it sucks.)

I think you might misunderstood what i ment there. Cus there are no games in the installed content and it stands that i have to buy Bioware point to get it.

If there's nothing under Installed Content then its not installed.  Is it stuck under Download Progress?  Does it show up on your Registered Game Promotions Page?  If its there, and you manually start the Content Updater service before you start the game, and it still offers it to you for purchase you might want to take a quick look at the Redeemed DLC Troubleshooting FAQ for something else that might need to be fixed.

A red version number usually means some sort of installation problem.  Here are some common solutions:

* Clear the Download Cache.  From the game launcher select "Configure", then inside the configuration utility go to Repair and click on "Clear Download Cache".
* Delete the My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\Manifest.xml file.  It may also be necessary to delete the addins.xml file in the same directory, but that will effectively uninstall all DLC and other addons, including Awakenings.
* If your My Documents Directory is located on some other drive then C: move it back to the C: drive to install the DLC.  Right click on USERNAME\\My Documents and select Properties.  Go to the Location tab, and if the path displayed there doesn't start with C:, click on Restore Default.  You can move it back after the DLC is installed.
* Temporarily change the Windows Region and Language settings to English (United States) while installing the DLC, it also can be changed back after the DLC is installed.

It's with mixed feelings that I've revisited this thread: so glad it's come to my assistance again, and astonished that EA still haven't fixed their huge steaming turd of an authentication and download system. Still, even though EA can't be bothered, I'm extremely grateful that other users have a much more helpful attitude, so thank you!

Edit:

I just read this and... :o  What on earth are they thinking?  I'm just astonished. :(

Edit 2: [snip - ranting removed]

Right, that's that (apparently) sorted out after a couple of hours' worth of getting tied up in knots.  What a mess.

After having more problems, I found a solution of my own to the "DLC not authorising" irkment.  I doubt if it's an original idea, but is probably worth reiterating even if it's not.

What I've done is to replace the desktop start icon's program with a batch script that first checks to see if the DAupdatersvc thingy is running, and if not, to attempt to start it; only when it's actually running will it launch Dragon Age.  So far it seems to work correctly and will hopefully obviate the need to remember to check the status of my DLCs every time - because me remembering something just some of the time let alone all of it isn't going to happen, and yet again I noticed purely by accident that none of my DLC was authorised [or "authorized", for the Googlers] again today.

There's probably little point in me posting my exact solution here because it uses Cygwin, which few other people are likely to have installed - unfortunately I don't really "get" Windows or its cmd thing so I decided not to flail around in cluelessness there.  But it should be easy to write something using your favourite scripting language, and hopefully someone else can contribute something more standard for those who quite rightly don't have any favourite scripting language.

The minor fly in the ointment is that the script, or at least the part of the script that attempts to start DAupdatersvc, needs administrator privileges to run, though hopefully that won't present too much of a problem for anyone who wishes to try it out.

Of course it would be preferable if this was done automatically by the game or if EA developed a more respectful attitude to its customers, but since neither seems to be happening soon, it pays to take the pragmatic approach and work around the problems in whatever way we can.

Can't even add them via console? I just got hit by vanishing Soldier's Peak. I got it fixed it seems but Winter's Breath is gone.

I also have problems with de DLC's. I installed them manually, the items worked just fine but the major DLC's appereared as unauthorized. I installed the offers and thankfully it appeared as authorized. Nevertheless, when I try to talk to Levi, he says to go to sold. peak, i say to help him, but when i go to the map, nothing new appears, and when I try to talk to Levi again he says the same thing again.

The same applies to the honnleath, it doesn't appear in the map, even after getting the rod that controls the golem.

What can i do? I have win xp anda the 1.03 patch installed

I had to run the script for Soldiers Peak to get it back on the map. Depending on where you are in those quests, you can warp to the proper location and hopefully continue on.

Unfortunately, I lost one of the items as it was equipped on Wynne and am still struggling to get it back. I spent a couple hours debugging the toolset and I got that fixed but now I just need to find a way to put Winter's Breath back in my inventory or on Wynne.

I'm having a problem with the Stone Prisoner DLC. I have the rod, killed all the darkspawn in honnleath and went into wilhelm's cellar, but can't interact with the barrier nor the people behind it.
