Obtaining Tier 4 Materials?

From what I can tell High Dragon's are the only source of Tier 4 materials (Dragon Bone, Scales, etc).  Also I think there are a finite number of High Dragons in the game.  Like a dozen maybe?

If both of those assumptions are true does that mean there is a limited amount of T4 Materials?  I'd like to experiment with lots of different crafted gear but if I can only make a couple items with T4 materials I need to be extremely selective.

Is this all true?  Or are their either A) Other T4 materials about or B) A way to farm dragon materials outside of the High Dragons?

As far as I have seen you are correct on your assumptions, only high dragons offer t4 mats.

Just to note though they don't offer any stats that you can't get with t3 mats, so just test with those and when your ready make an item with the dragon mats.

But doesn't that mean we can only make one, maybe two, T4 items at most? And a question ancillary to that: I gave up some of my dragon mats to Wade through one of the war table missions which implied I'd get his knowledge (I assumed schematics) in return and all I got was a crappy amulet. Am I missing something there or did I just waste some of my t4 mats?

If T4 mats give the same stats as T3 mats then whats the point?  Just to say your armor is made of Dragon Bone or does it actually come up in the game?

According to the guide, T4 mats do give better stats than T3.

They do indeed give slightly better stats than t3 ones but its not big difference.

Total Crafting Material gathered:

  • 86 Dragon Bone
  • 96 Dragon Scales
  • 98 Dragon Webbing
  • 23 Dragon's Tooth

So, looks like we have ample material for many many items.

As for the benefits, it is small:

Webbing
Very high Armor rating / damage (Fire)
1 Willpower/1 Magic
3.5% crit damage
4% fire resistance

Scales
Very high Armor / Damage rating (Fire)
1 Cunning / 1 Dexterity
3.5% Armor Penetration
4% fire resistance

Bone

Very high Armor rating / Damage (Fire)
1 Constitution / 1 Strength
2% Bleed target on hit.
4% fire resistance

In term of damage, and armor, you are looking at +4 instead of +3 so it is really not that big in terms of difference to Tier 3.

Wow. Thanks for that. You're righf, the overall boost in stats isn't that much from t3 to t4. Also, what the hell's with all the daggers lol?!? I want a bow. Do you think maybe some of the drops are based on what your character has equipped? It makes no sense that they almost all dropped daggers.
