Hello bioware community, this is my first post so I'd just like to say hi! On to the question that I have:
I've been playing mass effect 1 on pc for quite some time now but there's something that kind of annoys me. Ive seen some benchmarks for the 4890 and some videos on youtube and everyone says that they get an average fps ranging from 60 to 80, while i can only get to 60 if im lucky, some crowded places like the citadel give me around 25 to 35 fps. So i've got 2 questions:
1) What could be causing this problem? (ie is my gpu busted, is my cpu not good enough, etc...)
2) What should i expect in Mass Effect 2 when I get it?

My specs are:
Core2Quad Q6600 @2.4 GHz
Radeon HD 4890 1Gb
4Gb RAM
Windows 7

Thanks!

I have a similar system to you, except I have a Core2Duo E8500. Keep in mind that the game runs the Unreal 3 engine which has Vsync enabled by default and you won't see more then 60fps. Other then that...this is what I average on the game. ME1 was a system hog. ME2 should perform similarly.

My guess is that ME1 wasn't using your cores appropriately. So, it was trying to run off of somewhere between 1 and 2 2.4 ghz cores instead of all 4.

Either that or file corruptions (reinstall/validate (if digital)), or drivers out of date or spyware/virus/malware or registry errors.
