Much preferred the look of the Qunari in DA2 compared to DAI (who agrees?)

Yeah I tried really hard to make a Qunari look something close to what they look like in DA2 and just couldn't do it. There's just not enough facial settings or complexion options that can create those particular bone structures in the face and forehead and none of the Horn options have those either.

That's actually another thing, the Horns look like they were just slapped on a human head, they do not look like they are organically part of the skull itself. I mean, sure you're going to not get good transitions like that in a CC which is supposed to be customizable. But none of the options feel like they "fit" to me, IMO.

The hair is a pretty big part of it, as all the cool concepts of Qunari have long hair (certainly longer than any of the options in the CC). I mean, even something like this would have been acceptable:

I believe you, but I still want to try.
There will be pics, if I succeed.

Okay, fooled around for a minute and got a lot of the shapes blocked out.
I think he looks pretty good, especially from the side... room for improvement though.

What's really missing I feel is an equivalent "complexion" option.

That's actually not too shabby.

Yeah, that isn't too bad. If there were only some options for those smaller bone structures and creases in the forehead, and of course, the Hair, then it would be great.

The Hair is definitely the biggest obstacle to getting good looking Qunari.

I think what throws me off with that picture is again the hair, just the way how the face seems to "Stretch" over the hair is creepy, it looks like it's a mask or something put over the real face beneath it

Not only do they look less unique and awesome as they do in Dragon Age II, but the armor/looks available to Qunari in Inquisition is pitiful.

No unique Qunari-only armor, restricted in wearing helmets and many iconic sets (Warden, Templar, etc) and a ton of bugs preventing certain armors from being equipped and incorrectly rendering them in pyjamas upon equipping them.

What armor is available is much less diverse than other races, and retains the look of starting armor even 20 levels in.

they changed the qunari design because now your PC can be a qunari too, so they had to make them more human to mimic human player faces.

I feel like they should just not have included Qunari then if this is what the result is :-/ I'd rather the first time we are able to play Qunari it's done really well.

Well either way we got them now and I'd hope they get something added over time, hopefully soon, to make it a race worth playing because I really want to but not if I look weird :S

I also think they need to settle on a qunari lookm we've have a different qunari design for each game now. The face actually is slipped over the hair. Play with the forehead slider and you'll see what I mean.

I agree. Inquisition's Qunari are too human, down to the voices.

Even though I wanted red war body paint like DA2s qunaris, I like the qunari on this game too. My qun-quisitor resulted exactly the way I wanted .

DA2 had a pretty awesome design for Qunari. I do agree. The female in the concept art looked awesome to.

I'd also take the DA2 style elves over the stick figure male one in this game. -_- (solas not counting, since he seems to be a rare specimen of decent 3D modelling)

I completely agree. I feel they look so much better an alien looking race in DA2 than the larger humans with horns in DAI.

It looks really creepy, I've written this before but I cant help but say it again, it looks like the Qunari "Face" is actually a mask or something that is worn over the actual face that is under it. Their face doesn't really look properly attatched

Iron Bull's face didn't sit right with me but I couldn't put my finger on what was the problem. Now i see.

I liked Sten though, Would have preferred the Qunari being a human culture rather than a different race. I was not a fan of DA2 design but it's better than the in between look of DAI.

Probably because his tiny face is sitting upon his enormous triangle shaped neck. His body looks so weird, and those strange horns don't help either.

If a party companion can't look like DA2 Qunari I dont have too much hope :-/ But at least we can hope for some hairstyles that kind of conceal some of the weird looks the new appearance gives off, while I also hope for a possible new face preset that looks a bit more.. DA2 ish qunari, and that their heads get a lil bigger

I would argue there has been plenty of feedback and critique of the Qunari overall that would warrant a Content Pack add-on being developed for them. After all there is:

1. The Hair definitely needs to be redone. There is no one I've read who has been happy with the current Hair styles.

2. Qunari Armor or lack thereof. For all the loot in this game so much of the armor just doesn't look good on the Qunari.

3. More facial and tattoo styles for the Qunari.

I do not expect that anything will be forthcoming soon though. The devs no doubt are too busy with all the known bugs that have been bothering players for the forthcoming patches.

Nah. They look better now than the same faces they had in DA2. You would think they were clones.

Only the hair/horn is an issue (wanted more variety but i can understand the hair can be a problem), the rest is perfect.

The transition from forehead-to-horn looks really wierd, like the skin is smeared with soot, can that be altered?

The "Clone" issue could be fixed by simply having more face presets :P It's the general style im talking about. Now they look too human, human with stretched out faces with horns, it looks.. Off, like you always feel like something looks off when you look at their faces

The "Clone" issue was just an offshoot of the same issue that plagued the entire DA2 production. Very short development time and being forced to reuse the same assets over and over, which no doubt was true of the character models and facial textures.

And I just cannot agree with going back to the "Sten" version. Sten was ugly and uninteresting and might as well have been just a giant human with bronze skin, not a completely different "race". Granted, Elves and Dwarves aren't so different looking than humans, aside from the "knife-ears" and height, respectively.

But that is why I preferred the Qunari redesign from DA2, because it was something that didn't look entirely human like the elves and dwarves and looked like something "exotic" and unique.

I agree completely with you - the DA2 look was great but there were very few unique face models. I used DA2 Qunari as the basis for my male Qunari because that was my only real point of reference for DA:I; however, I'm sure I'll experiment more when it comes to making a female Qunari. Really I'm just glad that we get to choose from a much wider variety of looks for Qunari now.

Edit: Pictures here and here of my male Qunari for anyone interested (I'm afraid that Twitter was the only way I could figure out how to upload PS4 screenshots).

I just wish Bioware would stop changing the race designs every game. I'm getting tired of it. I thought the elves were just fine in DAO. The Qunari were awesome in DA2. Please...just stop. I have to put up with this mess of a male elf model as it is. :(

I mean, what if Mass Effect decided with each game to completely redesign the Asari or the Krogans or the Turians. Yeesh...

There's no reason we couldn't pick more variety for the DA2 qunari either, they could just use that style and allow variations of it.

I do like the one you made though and really shows that I think just better hair could go a long way as a compromise to make them look better
