If so, when? It doesn't look like it's gonna happen in the main story
Does the big Crestwood "save the town or save the fort" mission from the demo even happen?

It was sadly cut, though had it not been cut I would like to see how it would have worked in my pt since the red templars where diminished to very small numbers.

Man, they had to cut it? That's too bad.

Perhaps a Venatori attack instead?

That's disappointing. Has anyone encountered a similar decision? (sacrifice a to save b )

Wait, I have access to Crestwood village...

What the Op is talking about was a questline that had the red templars attack Crestwood, this was one of the earliest gameplay demos Bioware showed. In the finished product this quest is cut.

Oooh, I know I'm doing some quest that involves finding the Grey Wardens though.

Did they say why it had to be cut? It seemed like it was working well and locked in when they originally showed it to us. It's a shame, I liked the sound of that quest.

Oh, bummer. I literally just paused the game since I'm in Crestwood to say that it's still here, but apparently I was about to get sorely disappointed. Glad I read this here first or I would have thought I missed something and wasted three hours walking around the map trying to find it.

Another thing to note: Draining the lake is a big part of Crestwood's questline, and the Templar invasion would have to happen before that, as in the gameplay footage from that demo you can see clearly the lake is still full. But they also talked about finding some way to get to the rift in the lake.
I've noticed several differences between pre-release gameplay/trailers and the finished product, which is slightly disapointing. There's no stronghold customization for "Espionage/Military/Diplomacy," and the armor sets are EXTREMELY limited in basic design.

I thought BioWare already stated that they won't cut any contents from the final product. Shame, I rather like that quest and really wish to see another difficult decisions.

Yeah, should've just cut out some of the fetch quests instead, lol.

Eh, the mission was time sensitive in the demo so I don't miss the absence of that mechanic.

No offence, but I find that a weak reason to remove the time sensitive or difficult mission. BioWare already stated it's possible to save both, your fort and the town of Crestwood although it's difficult and it's require the player to handle things right.
If they just remove the mission because some player may find it too hard, then I suppose BioWare can tweak a few things in that mission make it less punishing to the player instead of removing it completely IMO.

Mannnn, I just came to look this up since I'm fast approaching endgame and haven't seen hide nor hair of this quest. What a crying shame!
And I was being so vigilant about getting all my Crestwood-related War table stuff sorted out ASAP in order to get the mythical "save both" result one of the devs mentioned once, lol ![]()

Cut, probably intefered with other intended larger schemes in Crestwood or took away from the importance of the main plot of the zone. Doubt we'll ever know the exact reason

This probably, Other than finding a warden, Crestwood didn't have much significance to the main plot. ![]()
To be fair to Bioware though, that gameplay footage was something that got out because people in the audience recorded it, as such you can't really blame them for cutting content that they never intended everyone to watch. ![]()
