Arishok
DAI:

Cassandra
All for various reasons, of course. I suppose "Arishok" would be a surprise, but I simply thought that he was by far the best "villain" written in a Bioware game. When he and Hawke inevitably fought, I didn't want there to be a victor. I respected the man, and his Qun. Didn't agree, but respected. And he returned the respect.

Where is Oghren? Blackwall?
Well, damn, I've only been here for about a day and I've already shamed my name haha! Atleast Iron Bull has one, but looking at my lists, maybe I should change my name to something like, "LikesLadiesWithSpunk" or something...
Hmm...

Harding would be number 2 if she was a companion
God I wish Harding was a companion instead of Varric, would have been so awesome.

DAI
1. Blackwall
2. Iron Bull
3. Cullen
4. Cassandra
5. Sera
Overall top 5 would be something like:
1. Morrigan (Still for me the best character in the entire franchise)
2. Blackwall (Hard to choose between him and Alistair they both have an interesting past that gets discovered as you get to know them and a sense of honor)
3. Alistair
4. Leliana (Some of the best individual character growth in the series)
5. Merrill (Mainly for her rivalry path i thought it was well written how Hawke was saving her from herself)
Before Inquisition:
5. Morrigan
4. Aveline
3. Varric
2. Alistair
1. Fenris
From Inquisition:
5. Casandra -- She likes Templars, my character sympathizes with mages, but both want order and justice. They had an 'interesting' start, but I think they're starting to see eye to eye. I admire how Casandra is able to be both strong and feminine. We'll have to see whether she or Aveline will get to keep the crown for that one.
4. The Iron Bull -- I love how he is a Qunari and yet has very different views than those typical to his people. I'm interested to see how this will effect him, and my Inquisitor's friendship with him, as the game progresses. Right now, my Inquisitor is stricter than the bull, lol.
3. Vivienne -- I admire the fact that Vivienne knows what she stands for and that she does not flinch from or apologize for any of it. My Inquisitor is not sure what she thinks of Vivienne--she finds Viv kinda overwhelming. My character is torn between improving the quality of the circle vs. mage freedom and hasn't entirely decided quite what she thinks is right yet.
2. Cullen -- I was so happy when I learned that Cullen would be romance-able in this game. And so far, he is totally adorable.
I decided to pair him with a human mage who tends to do diplomatic or justice based decisions. Because of his history I wanted to make sure I used a character who would challenge him (hence choosing a mage) but with whom I felt he would agree with regarding overall ideals and principles. I think (hope) they can 'learn' from each other.
1. Dorian -- I totally didn't see this coming. Dorian became an instant favorite for me pretty much from his first scene onward. I love his attitude, his sense of humor and the insight that he brings about various aspects of Thedas that I've been curious about for years. He also seems to have terrific party banter and having set him up with a wide array of fire spells, he is handy in combat, too. My Inquisitor views him as being the opposite end of the scale from Vivienne and she tends to feel more at ease with him.
I'm not going to post a mixed list, because I haven't finished Inquisition yet. I'm sure my list will shift with time, though.
DA:O
1. Ali-bear..err, I mean Alistair. *cough*
2. Shale
3. Wynne
4. Sten
5. Morrigan
DA2
1. Varric - he is my bro all the way (although if he would JUST get over Bianca, I'd romance him...).
2. Anders (hey, he was my LI - and, well, he was interesting despite what he did!).
3. Aveline.
4. Sandal.
5. Isabela.
DA:I
1. Blackwall - my current LI (I appreciated the depth of his story - there were...interesting choices and issues related to him...plus I like tall, dark, and reasonably handsome guys somewhere close to my age
).
2. Dorian - I love his sense of humor even though I can't romance him as a woman (I just might play a guy to romance him)...AND Varric - now both tied for #2 because I stilI haven't been able to make up my mind. ![]()
3. Cassandra - really like hanging out with her, and once you get to know her, she's more than just a stern, grumpy Seeker.
4. Cullen - future LI (he turned out to be a nice guy and is actually kind of interesting - plus he's hot, I'm just going to admit it...he's hot).
5. Uh, can't choose because I really do like everyone (even though I might disagree with some of their viewpoints) and pretty much everything - so Vivienne, Solas, Cole, Iron Bull, Sera, Hawke, Alistair, Scout Harding, Leliana, Morrigan, Josephine, Krem, Sutherland (yes, really), so yeah - I do mean everyone, including characters I probably forgot to list.
EDIT: After he completely melted my cold, dead heart today with some dialogue and an extra scene or two, Blackwall has been elevated to the top spot.
DA:O
1. Morrigan
2. Morrigan (Alistair)
3. Morrigan (Dog)
4. Morrigan (Oghren/Leliana)
5. Morrigan (Duncan)
DA2
1. Isabela
2. Sandal
DA:I
1. Morrigan
2. Cassandra
3. Sera
4. Dorian
5. Iron Bull
Well there's kind of a trend here, I like my characters humorous and dynamic.
Morrigan tops my list at every possible juncture, dark humor, sarcastic and yet has soft side to her. One of the best DA characters IMO, it was amazing how much she transitioned from DAO to DA:I depending on your decisions.
Cassandra is kind of like her DA:I counterpart except she starts off self-righteous which I couldn't really stand til I got to know her.
Pre-DAI characters:
1. Fenris
2. Isabela
3. Zevran
4. Aveline
5. Alistair
DAI characters:
1. SOLAS ![]()
2. Cullen
3. Vivienne
4. Cassandra
5. Iron Bull
I've been daydreaming of getting to play a modded m/m romance with Solas for DAYS now
I don't care if I have to wait 3-4 years. It MUST happen! (Same with Cullen, ofc)
Vivienne can't stand the sight of me at this point and yet she is still perfect... ![]()
It is now (outside of the protaganists of course) in order.
Morrigan
Cassandra
Isabela
Varric
and I can't choose between Sten/Dorian going with Storian.
@Tarvesh Sigrun had to be my favorite awakening character. I don't know how the managed such a awesome character in so little time but I love her!
Dragon Age: Origins
1. Morrigan
2. Alistair
3. Shale
4. Zevran
5. Sten
Dragon Age 2
1. Isabela
2. Varric
3. Anders
4. Merill
5. Aveline
* Special nod to the Arishok who I really liked
I'm still not done with Dragon Age: Inquisition, so I am going to list my next five in no particular order. I'll probably come back when I've beaten the main game.
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Cassandra, Cullen, Solas, Cole and Morrigan are probably my top five right now.
But I also really like Dorian and Sera. I just need to see more of their cut scenes. Leliana has grown on me over time as well post Origins. She may creep up into the top before the game is done.
Flemeth and Sandal also get special nods.
DAO
1. Alistair
2. the Dog (especially the one from human noble origin, he has been my friend before all things began)
3. Wynne
4. Unhardened Leliana
5. Cullen (I know he became crazy after the Broken Circle, but I can't help liking him as 80% of playthroughs are mages)
After DAII
1. Carver (My stubborn bro, he loves Hawke but just doesn't admit it)
2. Warden Alistair (He seems to be more confident than being king)
3. Anders (I liked Anders for most of the game until he bombed the Chantry)
4. Aveline - Varric (I can't choose between them)
5. Bethany (poor Bethany, always died in my playthroughs)
After DAI
1. Cullen (romance arc so good)
2. Warden>king Alistair (I would always choose Alistair over Hawke, but I prefer both of them to stay lol)
3. Blackwall (I like his story, maybe I will romance him next time)
4. Varric
5. Felix (I don't know why but I think he is brave enough to face his death)
6. Leliana (why? Why did you become a cold-blooded killer after the personal quest? Why????) and her crows
7. Morrigan
Nice to see Carver getting some love - I thought I was the only one. I can't make a list. I like a lot of the characters a lot. I've just finished a DAO playthrough and was reminded just how hilarious Zevran conversations with Wynne were: 'can I lay my head on your breast?' Also, I'm surprised how much I disliked her this time round. I liked Wynne to start with - middle-aged woman playing the heroine, what's not to like? I found her unbearably priggish this time.
