Weapon / Armour dyes, where?

Was there an explanation as to why there isn't weapon or armour dyes?

It's nice that the material change the colour of the armours or weapons but if I want to use obsidian, because it gives me better stats compared to iron, I'm stuck with the colour it gives.

Wishing for more customization with clothing colours.  :(

Once you unlock masterworking, you can use "fade-touched" materials to change the color of items without changing the stats in addition to gaining a new positive effect. So if you were able to get some fade-touched iron you could then use that to change the color to that of iron.

You can also use this to "dye" otherwise undyable regions. It's pretty fun to play with!

True, the fade-touched materials do offer a colour change, but not a lot of them do.  Also what if there is a specific fade-touched stat you want but don't want the colour to change at all.

A while back I was trying to make a nice set of silver armor for Blackwall using Grey Warden schematics, I had fade-touched obsidian which gives 3 guard on hit which is great, but then I lose the silver colour because the fade-touched obsidian changed the main colour to black.

Bane of my existence right here. I was going to make a weapon with a 50 something percent chance to heal on a kill while wearing Templar armor that buffed healing effects to go with the whole "being a paladin" thing but I'd rather not be swinging around a pink Greataxe.

So sad.

Indeed...I've been disappointed with custmization as well. So little freedom...for ex. in Guild Wars2 \ Diablo 3 we can color our Armor pieces with Dyes, why in DAI we can't even Dye Cloth\Leather parts with any color we want? Not to mention Transmogrification feature and scarcity of schematics...

I know it wasn't impossible or hard to make, they've already make it just in other way...

All cloth materials have a Fade-Touched variant.

And? Not all of them offer color change...I've got tons of FT materials and only few of them offers color change and many of them just replacing for ex. Silverite color with another one, which I don't like at all.

ALL fade-touched materials will override the color of the same material used in the crafting. Cloth overrides cloth, leather ovorrides leather and metal overrides metal. Not always noticeable but it's there.
