Tonics you unlock fairly quickly and I think the first one is Iron Bark. If you are not sure what is or isn't one, go to the work bench for upgrading potions and look at the ones you have unlocked. There are 3 types of 'potions'; Potions, Tonics and Grenades. I don't know how far you have advanced, so I wont give many specific examples, but there are quite a few to find.

And ya, Nightmare can be tricky. Fade Step is a must on all mages. Whoever your tank is has to have both taunts. Your ranged physical dealer needs to have their escape shot thingie. Also barrier, lots and lots of barrier. I have Cass run in, taunt the main threat, then position to taunt everything in the area to build guard while Dorian or I barrier. Any time its about to come off cooldown, its being used. Cass will keep people on her fairly well doing that and take little to no damage from the typical badies, and if any break free of her taunt, she pulls them back in. Fighting some stronger badies, such as Pride Demons, its a little more tricky, but the same strat works. There is an area where there are giants roaming around. Good loot and I can take 0 damage from them using that strat.

As for breaking past guard for a mage, use Elemental Barrage. Guard works by blocking X amount of hits (if I understand it properly), so using Elemental Barrage destroys guard. (If guard doesn't work that way, then I don't know how it works, but still Elemental Barrage works wonders vs it)

Nice suggestions. Allow me to introduce some too, but regarding multiplayer :D

Multiplayer feedback:

- 3 maps, even randomly generated, are too few.

- Also, it should have 4 different playable characters on the fly, since it is 4 players co-op.

- Make the camera closer, as in single-player

- More customization: people playing the same character will take way too long to look different from each other, cause making or getting armor is hard

- Changing armor in the same character is very simple and the only thing that changes is the color. Come on! There are so many nice armors in single player, so why on co-op they only change colors wheen you get a new one???

- More loot!

- Achievements

- Female characters pretty, please! They are all ugly as hell!

- Necromancer can´t summon undead... what kind os necromancer is that?

- Bug: vases broken using ranged attack may regenerate and the only way they can be broken again is using close combat.

Blizzard when patching Diablo 3, changed the way old spells looked by chaging animations and the spell itself, so I am sure you can also make a patch that could include pretty faces to female character and the armor thing I mentioned.

Bioware, while this game is awesome in single-player, a lot of people will keep coming for co-op (I´ve spent tons os hours on both), so we need our incentive to keep playing it. The way it looks right now, it feels a little rushed. It is awesome, but needs more content  :)

Thanks!  :)

Epic topic! I almost agree with all of these suggestions and the one I don't like maybe added as toggable options (like full health recovery outside of combat; I find the new mechanic challenging tbh).

Keep it up. And @ Bioware, you should take a bit of inspiration, please. :)

Meh, i actually dont like many of the suggestions. Okay thats a lie. I read enough suggestions that i disagreed with that i scrolled a mile to see how long the list was.

Maybe im just a push over but i only want a hand full of things.
-Freeflying tac cam with range from main char.
-tactical behavior menu
-nav points for tac movement
-chars to obey orders even between mode switches
-i dont know how to make a single character halt combat in tac cam
-ui toggle that drops everything for a look, including mob hp bars and such.
-more boobies and stuff.
-commands stick when switch from tac to action
- a better inventory ui would be nice, as would gear comparisons while crafting.
- a stylist so i can change a little about my character's face.
- make it to where helmets dont clip with head parts.
- walk toggle

So yea. This illustrates i have 12 fingers per hand or cant count.

Quote "I understand Bio wants players to 'build' weapons and armor.
It is a real PAIN to strip weapons and armor from my party before every trip to Haven town. (Not gotten farther in-game)

How can I upgrade when my party walks away with their stuff?

ADD more stuff at store/shops"

Dont strip them! Just go to the shop and in the top right there are arrows to select
other characters and look at their loadouts. Granted, it should be all in One menu, everything on all characters, rather than having to jump through hoops. But yea, you can alter gear on all your characters at the shops and crafting places. The tough part for me is crafting vs gear comparison. I'll make a mace and then go to put it on cas and look at her weapon and go ob yea, it has the awesome rune, i forgot about that, then sell the badass mace i just had crafted for a mere 5 coins. Sheesh.

I need to reiterate here that this is not a space to hate on Dragon Age: Inquisition - we can all agree that it's an awesome game but could be made truly epic taking all player feedback into account in the next patch. Even if you don't agree with many of my points, that's OK, just be sure to list yours. Good discussion everyone, keep it constructive please.

@Bobzilla84 - I feel for you man, all bugs needs to be fixed ASAP across all platforms, not just PC

@Soul of Men - I do agree that there shouldn't be too much hand-holding and appreciate your input. Reading your posts definitely inspire me to play on Nightmare, but I'll wait for a patch addressing major issues to be released first. It's good to get a dialogue going at least which will hopefully reach the right people. To be honest I know a lot of my suggestions are pie-in-the-sky(hold) so I'd settle for basic UI changes such as searchable items pinging on the mini map and the ability to rebind the keys to one's preferred playing style. I recently finished Divinity: Original Sin - absolutely no hand-holding in that RPG, if you haven't played it yet it sounds like you might get a kick out of it.

@Publius1000 - I recall a merchant at the crossroads of the hinterlands sold a tonic, just basic combat augments for your characters, they are quite tricky to find though, which is a pity as if they could be discovered sooner they would have much more of an impact on the game itself.

@Rafoquinha - thank you for your thoughts, I've barely touched multiplayer, the main reason being the reasons you listed. Laughed my ass off at the comment that the female characters are all ugly as hell haha  despite all the time it took to make this, it does feel slightly rushed, I suppose the developers must have been under incredible pressure to release, especially before the title arriving in January, need I say more...

@GODzilla - alright perhaps autoheal over time is asking a bit much, but I really would like to see a character that can use a consistent healing spell, even if it is minimally effective. Thanks for the kind words.

@Spenzor Again - fair enough, I wanted to write out everything in full as I know there at least a few decent suggestions in there, the volume reflects the effort. I do think your points are good though, especially the "more boobies and stuff" haha. @Publius1000 mentioned earlier, as both you and I did, that the inventory is too layered, they really should make it more user friendly, so at least we can agree on that.

I was hoping this thread would pick up some momentum so that it might be used as a source from which developers can draw inspiration from for the eagerly-anticipated patch, don't hate the game, just keep on thinking of ways it could be improved, I'm sure the kind people at Bioware will be happy to oblige all relevant suggestions.

When I first saw this topic, I was glad someone wanted to fix certain issues in the game.

Then I read it.

@Dabrikishaw - haha alright you got me, consider me well-trolled for the evening   If there are certain issues you would like to be fixed, please state them. Yeah perhaps I did go a little overboard, it's just because I care though.

The lack of Qunari armor showing up due to glitch that doesn't show anything beyond vanguard armor.

I've probably now spent more time on the feedback and suggestions section of the forums reading everyone's initial feedback about the game than playing the game. It is clearly broken and unfinished, I haven't touched the game since I posted this and refuse to until a lot of problems have been sorted out. My decision to continue playing basically hinges on how substantial the next patch is and what exactly is addressed. I pre-ordered this 5 months before release and counted down the days, that being said I never would have bought it at release time had I known that it's basically not finished. Even more disappointed that Bioware have not announced any news about a patch release date yet :? Clearly a patch should have been released already.

@Eckister - that's kind of you, thanks. I've been reading the posts from Bioware today and it seems like they're fully aware of most of the issues, I really hope they do take this thread into account. Pretty sure we can expect some major bug fixes (ie. no party banter and crashes) as well as a reworking of the combat interface (tactical camera and key binding adjustments) in the first patch. Cheers. While traditionally an RPG player, I'm going to give FarCry4 a try now, I need to shoot some things out of sheer frustration with the game I've been waiting to play all year. I'll be back questing after the first patch I'm sure, this time on nightmare difficulty.

haha thanks dude! Enjoyed the last one, mainly due to the RPG elements to be honest. Time to unleash some roaming elephants upon my unwary enemies!  :o I honestly would have loved to have played Dragon Age tonight... but I just can't, not in its current state. Appreciate your feedback.

I sort of skipped over most of this discussion because I wanted to get back to the game. I just have one question about the original post. Am I the only with the opinion of Sera being the best character in the latest game?!?!

I mean, I get why people don't like her but. . .still, she's great!

Also, as far as your added content suggestions is concerned, islands accessed by rowboats please! Oh, and more time spent on the writing of the characters. Especially the main villain! Wow!

One last thing, I like not being able to heal and having a limit on potions. Makes it slightly more exciting for me. Ballsy move if you ask me.

Thanks for starting this thread! I was loving this game right up until the moment it crashed- 40 times in 15 hours playtime.Tried clearing cache, hard drive and reloading game disc 1. The only patch xbox 360 owners are desperate for is the one that stops the disc unreadable error and makes it possible to play this game at all.

I have had the same problem, played ten hours on high settings fine, then it started crashing every 30 min to an hour, now 22 hours in, it crashes a minute after I get past the main menu.

actually - I agree! ;-) not having heals does add difficulty and it isnt as bad as I initially thought. it just seems kind of ... entertaining that NPCs look for healers when healing spells were removed... :-D it would be nice not having to run back into one of your camps to re-stock every 15 minutes, just because certain characters like to "have a few". :-D perhaps a regeneration spell with a reasonably high cooldown? so it wouldnt really be viable for combat (keeping the need for potions), but you still wouldnt have to run back and forth every while.

@Yovardma - if you like Sera that's fair enough, perhaps there's some validity to her being a main character after all, I just don't see it though, she got on my nerves a lot. I fully agree that the writing could do with some work, the characters have as much depth as a cardboard cut-out, especially Corypheus, I like villains the player can empathise with. Sadly I think it will be a long wait for new content such as new maps, first the problem of the many bugs across all platforms will have to be addressed, hopefully sooner than later.

@Pig Bodine - thanks for commenting, I'm sorry to hear that, the developers must be scrambling for a cure for errors at the moment because seemingly all platforms are riddled with errors, which I find remarkable for a game released with such a high profile and expectancy.

@Charcoal15 - I should be grateful the game is still playable on my PC, but with the current UI my patience has sadly worn thin.

@Eckister - I'd definitely settle for a slight combat regen spell at the least, just to prolong questing time when out in the wilderness and double the amount of time one can run around without returning to camp, which I found myself doing after almost every quest, so that I'd be prepared and fully-stocked for the next one, just in case I ran into a dragon or something nasty.

Please keep the comments coming, hopefully we'll get a reply from Bioware as to when we can expect a patch...

First, fix bugged abilities, exploits, auto attack and save corruption issue. It's much easier to implement than changing game mechanics

Second, fix AI and tactics issues and apply buffs/nerf to abilities

Third, the rest (just read all other post in this thread)

Fourth,  8 abilities slots and no healing is central mechanics of DAI and i doubt that it will ever change

1, bring back auto attack

2, make it so player character keeps target when returning from tactical view

3, bring back go to bed option, with sex scenes

4, add more missions in later game, 2 new land areas even, the lvl requirments for winter garden make it so you do that then its back to back main story missions which is dull.

5, add some sort of storage option for items specifically obtained for fighting dragons

6, allow us to not auto complete winter garden after killing the boss, let us manually hand in to the ruler so quests from the area can be handed in

7, allow tactial camera to not be head down only

8, bring in the actual advertised content.

9, implement the ability to queue actions on companions when in tactical view.

10, allow us to do more sky hold eg repair walls, build real defenses and to upgrade keeps

11, bring back a healing tree to mages, we have healers, they have healers, makes fights more tactical

12, mods

13, mods, twice for emphasis

14, make another town, dirty town, with brothel and card games, crows missions etc. add some spice and variety. Not everything has tobe punch them in the head.

And the lands maybe geographically large, but they are split to make them feel bigger via mountains and walls and are in essence rather empty. rarly re used, missing a trick.

Some of this has merit, some is just incredibly lazy and illogical nonsense.  The Inquisition should get a bonus for kicking Iron Bull out of it's ranks?  You just lost all of his mercenaries.  Or Sera?  you just lost all of her contacts and drop locations, why should you receive any positive effects from these acts?

I could go on about each point, but more than 75% of this list is pure garbage.

@Magma_Axis - couldn't agree more

@shigara - hear hear, thank you for your contribution

@SuicidalBaby - I understand you might not agree, but I'm not sure if anything I mentioned is illogical given the right rationale - kick Iron Bull out and those that are opposed to an alliance with the Qun come forward with new alliances, the same goes for those that do not agree with allying with The Friends of Red Jenny, perhaps if you kick out Sera and turn down their aid the Templars come forward and bolster your ranks with veteran patrols due to what they view is your integrity as Inquisitor, that's just off the top of my head. You could go on, but rather don't, I learned the cure to slaying trolls years ago and have been practicing my Melf's Acid Arrow ever since. Rather than merely putting down my contribution, how about being constructive... there's nothing worse than criticism that isn't constructive - feel free to start your own thread, mine isn't a bridge for you to lurk under.

Good questing to all. I'm biding my time until patch day, I didn't sign up to be a play-tester of the game.

I'm good as long as the obvious bugs are fixed

About game mechanics, i'll adapt

If bioware do everything that the fanbase demand, the game would be unplayable mess
