After playing DAI, there are just so many things going on wrong in the game and I hope someone here can clarify the situation for me. So if anyone needs some explaining done by all means, please put your questions in this thread.

1. The game mentioned ALL the Wardens in Ferelden and Orlais went missing because of Corypheus faking the Calling. However, the Inquisitor met King Alistair in Redcliffe looking fine as usual. He didn’t even mention whether he heard the Calling or where the other Wardens went even if he refused Clarel’s plan (that’s assuming if Clarel ever called on the King to carry out his duty as a Grey Warden).

2.Leliana and Cassandra mentioned that the Hero of Ferelden went missing. (Odd how that happens when the Warden romanced Leliana and did not tell her what he/she is up to…)During a conversation with the spymaster, it turns out that the Hero of Ferelden is on a quest to stop the Calling in a land far west, “a land that have never known the Blight”. How is that considered “missing” when she knows what the Warden is up to? It’s like Varric lying about Hawke’s whereabouts to keep him safe and I’d doubt that she would lie about her Warden’s whereabouts.

And seriously… “a land that have never known the Blight”? How can a cure for the Calling end up in a place that hasn’t seen Darkspawn before?

3.Moreover, the end of the world is coming. The Hero of Ferelden’s quest to stop the Calling at a time like this seemed like a ridiculous idea, don’t you think? If Corypheus ever succeeded in tearing the blighted world apart, prolonging one’s life seems to be the least of the Warden’s problem. Stroud/Alistair manage to resist Corypheus in the end so why not the Hero of Ferelden as well? Clarel wasn’t possessed and neither is Stroud/Alistair. As Warden-Commander of Ferelden, shouldn’t he/she, I don’t know, get a piece of the action as well? People running around fighting for their lives, helping the Inquisition to restore order and what the Hero of Ferelden did to help? Nothing. So much for being the “Hero” of Ferelden…

4.Another question that comes to mind is, can a Grey Warden who is cured of the Calling still hear the Archdemon or sense the Darkspawn? Can Grand Enchanter Fiona still hear Corypheus’ fake Calling and warn the Inquisition perhaps? In DAI, it is stated that the Wardens are still needed to kill an Archdemon (I assume it’s because of the taint in them) and by doing so, he/she who takes the final blow will die. After all, the Calling is just the taint taking over a Warden’s soul.

My theory is that even with traces of the Calling gone, the taint will still be there but it will only be dormant. Otherwise, curing the Calling seems to contradict the purpose of needing Grey Wardens to end the Blight.

5.If she was romanced in Origins, Leliana will still become the Divine in DAI(if the player allows this). Whatever happened to “I will join him/her for good this time”? After defeating Corypheus, Leliana will also say that her place “is and always will be with the Inquisition” (or something like that…). The Warden’s effort to stop the Calling seemed futile at this point because he/she did it just to be with their lover for a little longer. Dang it...

6.In the Awakening’s epilogue, the Hero of Ferelden will step down as the Warden-Commander and never seen setting foot in Vigil’s Keep again. In DAI, upon completion of the quest “Contacting the Hero of Ferelden”, the Warden still has the title of Warden-Commander. Andraste’s flaming knickers, what’s going on here??

There could be more but these will do. For now.

Dunno about those, but I have one... who told you about the Problem in Redcliffe when you are in Val Royeaux? It looks like Fiona, but Fiona insists it couldn't have been her. Did I miss the answer to this?

If you have completed Cassandra's personal quest (about looking for the missing Lord Seeker Lucius), you will also find out from a dying Seeker recruit that the Lord Seeker Lucius you saw in Val Royeaux wasn't the real Lord Seeker. I assume the same goes for Fiona in this case.

There currently is no Blight to end. And a Grey Warden that goes mad and dies would be of little use in stopping it.

Yes, but the question is who were they? Just random mages in disguise?

There are at least two more Blights to go.

Plus, what I meant was IF the cure for the Calling removes the taint in every Grey Wardens, then what is the point in preserving the order when they can no longer defeat Blights?

Nobody says it would remove the taint from every Grey Warden. I don't suspect he's looking for a globe encompassing energy field. But something like a ritual that a Warden can perform when the first sign of the Calling comes.

I'm just glad I made my dwarf noble sacrifice himself.  It's tradition.  The Calling serves its purpose and reminds the Wardens of their sacrifice even in times of peace.  Curing it would undermine the order and weaken their sense of purpose.  My Warden would have nothing to do with that, but the only way to ensure that is for him to be dead.

1.  Sadly, just stop trying to make Alistair make sense.  He doesn't.  He's a ravager-blooded templar grey warden who succeeds in spite of himself.  Just call this one 'magic!' and walk away.

2.  It is entirely possible that the spymaster to the Divine was lying when she said her true love was missing, just like Varric lied about Hawke.  Alternately, she didn't know at the time, and found out later.

3.  If the Warden left before the current troubles, and we know they did, they probably aren't in a position to return in a timely fashion.

4.  You've got nothing but baseless speculation here regarding your 'dormant but not gone' theory.  She's cured.  It's gone.  She's not a Grey Warden anymore.

5.  Lil's entire character arc has her learning to put others before herself.  Her taking on the responsibility of being the Divine is just the culmination of that arc.

6.  My father retired from the army, and people still address him as 'Colonel'.  It's a measure of respect for past achievements.

Because they can always implement the joining again later?

Honestly it never made a whole lot of sense that the Wardens would poison themselves and use up their limited supply of Archdemon blood during the time between Blights.

Envy demons perhaps? Like Lucius' case perhaps? But as to why and who did that... I really don't know much about it either.

Leliana didn't tell my Inquisitor that her place was with the Inquisitor foevah.

I got Cassandra as divine, hoping that means Leliana will find her love :P

If curing the Calling means getting rid of Grey Warden abilities, then who will kill an Archdemon if the Blight ever happens? It's like putting an end to the order and the only people who can stop Blights are the Grey Wardens. With no one else to kill the Archdemon? I'd say the cure for the Calling is as worse as letting the Blight ravage all across Thedas unimpeded.

I believe it is explained during the events leading up to Redcliffe Castle that the Magister harnessed some kind of time-altering magic.

So I guess Val Royal happens, then Magister does his spell thingy afterwards, goes back in time and takes over Redcliffe, and Inquisitor comes to Redcliffe and is confused because Fiona doesnt remember him. However thats just my theory.

1) If Alistair is King, its because he has foresworn being a Grey Warden.  So even if he's hearing the Calling (as is possible), he's not working for Clarel and wouldn't go running off at her demand. He's a King.

2) Leilana doesn't trust you with her full personal life right away?  Once she does talk about her love life, she makes it clear she knows where the Warden is by stating she'll rejoin him/her.  Later she explains that she doesn't know exactly where, but can get messages through.

2a) Maybe its never known Blight because there's a treatment for it? Or something causes a natural immunity?

3) Might be too far away. Might feel the Calling is a threat. Might not want to be taken over my Corypheus. We don't know if Corypheus is mimicking the Calling or if he's triggering it. Might be all those Wardens are about to go all tainted no matter what.

4) Curing the Calling would likely be an individual thing.  It might be a complete de-Wardening like Fiona Sue or it might be a way of postponing it so the Warden can live a normal lifespan.  Even if it does go the complete removal route, its not likely that they would apply to everyone, just those at the end of their careers.

5) She changes her mind due to circumstances changing?  Or she expects the HoF to join her in Val Royeaux?  Is there anything that says the Divine is celibate?

6) Honorific probably.  Or its a rank, not a job title. "Captain" in the US Navy is both a rank and a job title.  The Captain of a ship may not be a Captain by rank.

One I want to address in this thread that I think some people don't get is Fiona.

The Fiona that approaches you in Val IS the real Fiona. The time manipulation is the reason she doesn't recognize you; whats his face actually altered time to be able to get to Fiona before she had a chance to come to you. By recruiting her at an earlier point in the timeline, she never goes to Val and thus doesn't recognize you.

Or maybe you guys are right and it's a doppleganger.

This is exactly why Divine Justinia V earned the ire of so many Grand Clerics upon her ascension to the Sunburst Throne due to her "colourful" past. Naturally, a ruling Divine would avoid anything scandalous, you know, that will result in rebellions, assassinations, discontent and other political ramifications bla bla bla... Hey leadership by example right? Everyone looks to the Divine for leadership and guidance in times of crisis. A worldly Divine as the leader of the faith? I don't know... The Divine can only handle so much political chaos. The same can be said for Cassandra too if the Inquisitor romanced her and support her candidacy in becoming the next Divine.

Another thing I'd like to know is... where is the Architect? I've heard the choices made in Awakening will have an impact in DAI but there's no sign of him at all .(that is if you spared him of course...) With all this Darkspawn-related issues going on I'm surprised the Architect sat at the sidelines throughout the entire game. The Architect seemed pretty intent on severing the connection between the Darkspawn and the Archdemon's Calling after all. Or are the devs are planning to launch more DLCs to supplement the storyline in the future?

Nothing suggests any cure to the Taint would be used on all Grey Wardens.  As you rightly point out, they need to be Tainted in order to kill Archdemons.

But it would be immeasurably useful to use it on Grey Wardens who have reached the time of their Calling and are heading into the Deep Roads to die.  It would literally be saving their lives, and giving them productive years back with which to either enjoy a well earned retirement or to continue supporting the Wardens with their years of accumulated experience.  They wouldn't be the ArchDemon slaying arm of the Wardens anymore, they'd be trainers and administrators for the Order, or other useful tasks that don't involve needed to be Tainted.

That was time travel. Alexius went back in time and changed that so Fiona never went there but you still remember.

Hoping for a DLC involving him actually. If they do decide to make a DLC involving the search for a cure it makes sense that the Architect's expertise would be enlisted.

And there's a way around his apparent death if he really is an ancient Magister like Corypheus.

Big disappointment for me. He has to be more than a random Darkspawn who just knows to talk and most likely is one of the Magisters like Corypheus. I kept waiting for him to show up all the way to the epilogue.

Also, I'd like to see how the quest to cure the Calling turns out too. First, it was Fiona. Second, Avernus showed up. Then, there's an option in DA Keep revealing whether you've consumed Avernus' potion too. I was hoping a DLC will be involved with the HoF in it but sadly it ain't gonna happen. I recall Gaider saying that the HoF's adventures are over.

It's just... there are so many loose ends in Origins that Bioware seemed reluctant to deal with it in the coming series. Understandable but it's disappointing. Bah... Bioware couldn't give a damn about how we felt anyway.
