Got all three to work together... at first. Didn't have any further problems with Gaspard, only Briala and her elves, weirdly enough.
The problem with a "weak" Orlais is that the game ALSO explictly mentions that it is Orlais that keeps Tevinter in check
So as a Tevinter Sympathizer, how do I most effectively do the court roleplaying-wise to weaken Orlais the most?
ZOMG REALLY!!??? Between "Dance with Josephine" and "Go home" he chose the latter!?!?
What's wrong with the Inquisitor, mate!?
I don't see how that's the best ending.
Actually, i found 11 statues, but nonetheless, the 5-statue door, i never saved the statues for ![]()
Might do it on the 2nd runthrough
Anybody knows what the ending slides tells us regarding Orlais' fate if one opts for "You all work for me now!" instead of the OPs lameful...uh lawful good choice? Any difference at all?
I've made a list and a video of the locations of the ten Halla statues for this quest:
1) In the garden, before entering the palace, go up the stairs to your right to find it on the floor by the bench.2) Follow the balcony to your right after you climb the trellis to find the statue sitting on the bannister.3) In the servants' quarters go straight forward from where you entered, into the kitchen area and look up at the rafters. Climb onto the table to get the statue.4) In the servants quarters when you first see the Venatori at the fountain, turn right and go all the way to the end. Climb the stairs to the right, then the ladder and into the room. The statue is to your right.5) In the servants quarters, in the hallway where you meet Briala for the first time, to right of where you spoke.6) On the desk in the Trophy Room, next to Gaspard's orders.7) In the Royal Wing, in the westernmost room, on the table in the middle of the room.8) In the Royal Wing, in the easternmost room, on a table in the far left corner as you enter.9) In the Royal Wing, before you go through the door to the fade rift. Go past the door and down the stairs. The statue is to your right.10) In the Royal Wing, before you go through the door to the fade rift. Go through the door on your right, turn right and follow the balcony and jump through the open window. The statue is to your left.
Thank you for this! I was about to roll a rogue next just to open all doors to get a different ending. I am one of those slow players that don't like to be pressured to do things(timers and such). I have enough of that sort of thing at the office, don't need it in games too. Still, this one has me hooked for a while. So much so I didn't even take advantage of the 12x levelling with SWTOR. But it's ok, this is a prelude to how "ME New Encounters" is going to be handled so I am enjoying this to the fullest.

11) In servant's quarter: As you exit the kitchen area after picking up 3), but before you drop down to cut-scene, hug left. There is one more in the corner there.
>Says best ending
>Talks about something other than Gaspard ruling unchallenged
That doesn't fit.

"The mustache-twirling villain is best!"
Don't cut yourself on all that edge.
Mustache twirling villain?
That is wrong on so many levels.
Gaspard isn't mustache twirling villain, he was the rightful heir, robbed of his title, tired of Celene's perceived weakness, and fed up with Orlais going down a path he doesn't think it should go down.
He is not cruel, he is not sadistic, he does not try and have Celene killed, he sticks to his code of honor, and unlike Celene or Briala he has military experience that is useful when Orlais is under siege by demons and red templars and venatori

Definitely more deserving of the throne than Celene.

He's a warmongering racist. Literally the only thing he has over Celene is that he had a stronger claim to the throne initially. But he lost that, and instead of getting over it, he's sending thousands of his countrymen to their deaths just so he can have more power. Yes, he's a mustache twirling villain. Gaspard is the kind of human garbage that Loghain envisions of Orlesians in DAO when he ignored a Blight so he could turn sights on Orlais.
Celene and Briala both suck, but Gaspard is just scum.
>tfw Gaspard doesn't attack Ferelden
>tfw Celene is just as bad towards elves as he is
>tfw a succession crisis against a weak monarch is "mustache twirling"
But that requires a Waaaar table mission! Totes evil!
At least Gaspard knows enough to show gratitude to the people who helped him win his throne. Unlike a certain False Empress.
So I am still trying to figure out the possible outcomes on this one. I know of these variations:
1. Celene rules alone (Gaspard executed / Briala exiled)
2. Celene rules and is reunited with Briala (Gaspard executed / gave Celene Briala's locket)
3. Gaspard rules alone (Celene assassinated, Gaspard not blackmailed)
4. Gaspard rules in name, with Briala pulling the strings (Celene assassinated, Gaspard blakmailed)
5. All 3 rule together (Florianne exposed, all three are blackmailed into working together and with the Inquisition)
My real question: is there a way to get Celene ruling, with Briala having the real power / pulling the strings? Or will they just be reunited?
Bless you, XMissWooX. That is awesome.
I went with the three-way peace in my latest playthrough. I didn't get the Empress' mask though. Seems kind of crappy that you go through all the extra work to get the "perfect" result and it doesn't give you the good loot.
Strange. I got the 'triumvirate' ending and got both Mask du Chalons and Mask of the Grand Duchess.
Ultimate lols come from equipping Mask of Grand Duchess on Varric, along with In Death Sacrifice armor - he looks hilarious.
I think my ending with gaspard dead and celene making up with Briala is better.
Ah, well. Qunari and Tevinter are still each other's arch-nemesis. Each side would never risk all-out war with the "buffer" state Orlais, which would see them with their pants down towards their actual enemy.
Depending on how weak they become it could be a war won without even a single fight. I doubt the Inquisition is the only one that could make Orlais their puppet. Actually if you notice in the war room the Qunari have their fingers in a lot of different pies it wouldn't surprise me if they were already in the works of back dooring Orlais.
Once you understand the Game, court approval is ridiculously easy. And all the Game essentially is, is being indirect. Don't make sweeping statements, always ask questions and don't reveal your loyalties and Orlais will love you.
Personally I thought that it was silly, bordering on pandering, that Court approval was so simple. When any given player of modest intelligence can beat the pros at a game of wits and intrigue, it kind of undersells the cut-throat ruthlessness of the Game, and leaves the question of how anyone could find it difficult. At least with combat (most) players don't confuse PC super-human abilities for the typical or average Thedasian, but The Game is played mostly with words. If any competent person can ace it, the implication for failure is that it would require severe incompetence.
Ah well. Petty annoyances are petty.
