MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

Is it super sad that I loved the Solas romance so much, that when I rerolled and had the option to romance another character, I couldn't do it? No other romance has the depth and sensuality that Solas brings to the table! I shouldn't say I was disappointed when I reached the ending, but I sort of was. SUCH a cliffhanger! I spent hours on the forums and other websites looking for info to see if there was more.

Anyway, the reason I am posting is because I have a request to the bioware guys. I am voicing my hope to you developers/story-writers that they please, please continue the Solas romance with the inquisitors we have created in DA3. Yes, I'm a fangirl, and yes, I really want to see the story with my Lavellan completed. Without saying too much about the story, I cannot stop thinking about what happened at the end of DA3. That being said, yes, you guys did an awesome job, and the story is amazing. But you have to know by now that every gamer girl who romances Solas is just dying after the ending.

Thank you for developing such an awesome game, and here's to hoping the story continues (DLC?).

- Devoted Fangirl

--Oh, and please don't break my heart too hard. ;-)

I whole heartedly agree!

Solas, to me, made this game worth the romance.

Saying that, this is the first time I went romance option, man did I pick the most heart wrenching. *crying/dying on the inside*

He says "maybe in another life".

What I have always wanted, was to see a elven rise to power. If ever a tribe or people needed this, it would be the Elves!

It would be amazing to have the option of joining Solas and bringing back the elves.
Could you imagine?
And the romance would be incredible!
Solas was never a liar, I do believe he did love.

Yes. I'll bet that an eleven rise to power is coming, with the help of Solas. And maybe with our inquisitors' help ;-).

Thanks for the topic! I totally support you.

Solas is such an interesting character and romance is just adds him more layers.

Please, Bioware, don't let it be a cliffhanger!

Not necessarily. My favorite class to play is the mage, the geometry of the game makes me too crazy playing a rogue or warrior (I tried). I think that Solas will undo what he has done somehow, maybe something involving the eluvian.

I think the Solas romance is doomed, unless there is some way to separate the essences of all the "gods" he carries from him.  And that would have to be done forcefully, since he is a willing host.

"Total Heartbreak" indeed.  Let it go.  Solas is that hot manipulative guy with crazy issues that you can never change.  He's poison.  Go romance Cullen or something.  :)

Don't let your Inquisitor's man picker be broken unless you really want to torture your character that way.

Good idea.

To add to the OP's request, I'd love to see Bioware follow up on all of the big reveals of Elvhen lore, Solas and another beloved character, etc. even if the romance is never addressed again, I want to see more of these ancient spirits mess around with the reality of the world. There is a lot of speculation being thrown around inthe Solas bread and I love every bit of it. The ending of this game was the right way to do a cliff hanger. I've never been as pumped to see what the second installment can add since the fourth Harry Potter book.

Without getting too OT ont he subject of elves, lore and Thedas-world development, I just can't say enough how pleased I am at the writing direction this game has taken. Good job guys. I certainly look forward to more scotch bonnet candy burns :P (although Solas is certainly less foul than that awful stuff!)

It's definitely not the last that we will see of him. I'd just really like to see him again as the Inquisitor, not another new protagonist who has no ties to him and just listens to Solas fleetingly mention the Inquisitor or something.

His romance is the best romance story I've seen in any video game. Because in spite of the fact that it left on such a bittersweet note AND had the least amount of content, it is so full of depth and emotion. Even a few days later I still tear up when listening to the love theme!

Really hope we get some more substantial content on him, and that it covers the relationship between him (if romanced) and Lavellan.

When I say the elves, i am referring to the elves of old, from Arlathan. I think that is who Cole is referring to in the 'Cole-Solas' banter involving a mirror.

This is by far the most emotionally invested I've been in a video game. Right up there with Mass Effect. I love how bioware does that with these games.

I was prepared to just headcanon that my Warden pursued Morrigan and left it at that. Then I got Witch Hunt and despite the maps, it was a good conclusion.

I hope you guys and gals get a Wolf Hunt.

So,

I am in no way a subject matter expert here, but when you ask Cole what he sees in Solas, when talking with him during the game. Cole states that he is a pure, kind, sad, and caring. Also, when you're in the elven Forrest, Solas says "my people once lived in such beauty". Which I found odd, because in other occasions he says elves are not HIS people.

Is there a chance that he became controlled/possessed from his Fade journeys, by the Wolf and you kind of see a quiet battle within himself with the romance?
Like, his person self wants so bad to be apart of something so good, love, life, etc... But, he know he is a vessel to these deviants and knows he cannot stop it. So this is why he separates himself from his love?
Playing his part, in hopes to bring back the old gods in hope that they can end the battle?
I could totally forgive him and make cute elven babies to secure the future of the gods!

I dunno, I'm just so intrigued by this character. It would be such a shame to not let it continue.

Aahhhh ... The writing is so good! I don't want it to end!

But yeah, agreed, OP. Solas's romance is the best I've ever seen in a Bioware game (and my favourite next to Garrus). All it needs to make it perfect is a conclusion and a bit more content. My biggest disappointment is that my Lavellan doesn't have all of the information that I do.

I think that he is distinguishing himself between the elves of arlathon and the elves as they exist now in the game. Two very different societies and belief systems if you read the lore.

Adding my voice to the begging, I honestly never expected it to do what it's done to me, he's knocked Alistar off the throne of my most loved characters and allowed me to get over my Warden.  I didn't see it coming as the most feels I've ever experienced in a BioWare romance.  It's nice that the Morriganmancers are at least with us, they know the feels.

Solas himself always says "it's more complicated than that".  Honestly, the dude is a master manipulator and narcissist.  He values spirits over flesh and blood people who are suffering due to his actions in the past.  "His people" need him -- he's not talking about the common elves, he's talking about his god friends.

Sure, he doesn't like slavery.  Sure, he doesn't like violence.  That doesn't mean he's a good guy.  You can't just throw out all the old legends of ruthless and cunning Fen'Harel.

I also believe that Solas the elf has been willingly possessed by the spirit of Fen'Harel, as the young woman Flemeth was with Mythal.

I whole heartedly support the idea of little bits being added to further the romance of everyone with each DLC, up until the end where there's one big finale in the last DLC (Wedding like scenarios depending on character romanced or Internet riot!).

Okay, and while we're at it I'd like to ask for a cryogenic chamber in which to sleep until they are all released.  :D

Wolves are everywhere in this game.
Guarding the entries to what is left of the elven lands.
Laying, in stone,, in the middle of the camps in the Dales, Emerald Graves.
I also noted a read, where they talk about the elves having these wolf companions
That were like their partners, protectors.

@laxlily, I agree he is seperating himself from the two elven cultures.
His people come from a much older time, a time the elves struggle to return to.

That makes sense.
But, I could see it as Solas being a vessel for the deity as well.

I just, I don't see him as the bad guy.
Throughout the whole game there is discussion on what every tribe and people have done that is bad.
It's like, a whole game of opening eyes and hearts to the idea that the past has to be destroyed, in order for their to come
Peace. The old gods were killed off by the new gods, who ruined the world. Now, old and new gods have to come together
To destroy what had been corrupted.
Because we all know, good and evil must exist.

Thanks for opening this discussion laxlily.
As a Solas lover, it's like getting over the worst break up ever!
You just have to talk and hope for better to come for the inquisitor and Solas.

Maybe the gods were right, the inquisitor was sent for a purpose, to heal the people and then asend into her
Own, as a deity

I'm over thinking again.

Sure, he doesn't like slavery.  Sure, he doesn't like violence.  That doesn't mean he's a good guy.  You can't just throw out all the old legends of ruthless and cunning Fen'Harel.

"Narcissist"? Whaaat? A Narcissist wants everything to be about them, and their own desires take precedence over the feelings of others. Solas simply isn't like that. He cares about people. You can see it with Cole, with Iron Bull after his personal quest, with his spirit friend in his own quest. When other characters insult him in banters, it slides right off; what he truly gets passionate about is people subjugating others or themselves. "It's more complicated than that" is an expression of frustration at people who aren't even willing to question their own preconceptions. That is not the behavior of a Narcissist at all, because what he truly cares about isn't himself, but others.

I'm not saying he's flawless. He gets really grumpy with Dorian about Tevinter slavery and with Iron Bull about the Qun, which neither of them can really change. But his anger comes come from good principles. Just think about his banter with Cassandra, who is pro-circle and pro-templar, and yet Solas doesn't snap at her, because she's so obviously questioning and reevaluating her beliefs, and he deeply respects her for that.

And his relationship with the Dalish is complicated. He sees them and can't help but see how far they've fallen. He hates that they've chained themselves to a vision of the past that they don't even understand, and I also believe he feels responsible for what they've been reduced to.

Also, I don't think we should throw out a whole game's worth of character development just because Flemeth called him "Dread Wolf". Really, we have no idea who Fen'harel is, what he did, or which legends are true. The Dalish have been demonstrated to be mistaken about a lot of really fundamental things, so why should Fen'harel be any different?
