The subtitle position right now is hard to read or completely unreadable.
If there is no mean to move it to another position via config file, can you make it possible to move?
On the down side of the screen is perfect, like in any other game/movie/tv show. You can just move the layer up when the dialogue options are needed using the same animation the dialogue layer use when is shown.
