It just falls under one of those "common sense" areas to me. It worked SOO well in the previous games, why would they just leave it off! We aren't talking about 3 days of coding here by an entire team.

AND as far as calling people "haters" for simply wanting what they paid for, you need to get off your high horse and realize that this isn't just a select few, it is a mass of people... Please if I am wrong here, chime in!

First off I play on PC just like the so called DA enthusiast but i use a controller, that's because the developers recommended it for DA:I not that i didn't try to play it with keyboard and mouse and didn't like the way it felt. Does that mean BioWare lied to me or cheated me? No, the experience was to be different for either input device. My fellow PC gamers who are complaining about the keyboard and mouse interface and saying the game was designed for console game controllers need to get off it, Gaming PC's have had Joysticks since the beginning, it's nothing new or some affront to the community, it's just the first time BioWare has directly implemented controllers into a PC version of the game in one of their games (at least to my knowledge.)

Have I had issues with controls? Yes, are they that huge that im about to complain about a game im thoroughly enjoying even control wise since 95% of it is fine and responsive. (only problem i've had control wise is sometimes based on the elevation of the character the cursor during tactile mode will get stuck) but complaining about that i can't do point and click battles, no, because im not button smashing, no.. They TOLD US from the get go, that combat was a hybrid of DA1 and 2. Which is exactly what we got, a system in which you aren't smashing keys every second, but do actively have to pay attention and push a key every few seconds or just hold  button and do continuous attacks your choice. They didn't lie about this, auto-attack isn't needed, people just need to pay closer attention to what is said or maybe just learn to adapt.

Also while i haven't tested it myself im almost certain you could easily just select disengage and swap your weapon, there is no cooldown on inventory access when you quit battle so im almost certain you can switch weapons that way.

Want what they paid for? When did bioware send out the pamphlet asking for what you want in DAI? You paid for what they were offering, they at no time didn't tell you what was going to be in the game. Hell they even showed us what was in it, how it worked, why it worked that why and what their intentions were!

ummmmm the point wasnt solely to change the interface, but to add the option for weapon swapping, which would come in handy... but thank you for your oppinion...

well if memory serves, they wanted to provide an immersive gameplay and an RPG. a part of role-playing games is customisation and character control working equally on all provided controllers...

while I understand your points and am sure you provided valid counter-arguments (no irony this time, as in the "thank you for your oppinion" thing above), I still dont believe that the "you paid for it so shut up and play" attitude is going to get us anywhere near the level of enjoyment this game could provide. sure its level is very high, doesnt mean it cant be put higher. ;-)

Bioware promised us an immerssive RPG that contained a detailed tactical system, and implemented features that worked well in the previous game. They said that this game was made primarily for the PC, and not some console port. That is the system I paid for. Just like ordering a steak medium rare, if I got it overcooked, I'd still eat the steak, and maybe even praise the chef on the use of seasonings and other features of it... However, it still wouldn't have been what I was expecting and paid for originally.

But the main point here is that, although there are gamers that I'm sure are just fine and dandy with the way it is, the vast majority of PC gamers feel otherwise. Just scroll through these forums! I just hope that Bioware will realize there are areas they can substantially still improve this game, and that is not to say that it isn't a great game. I for instance feel like something like swapping weapons is a no brainer... However after finishing this I am going to test out your theory on the disengaging and swapping... I'll report back.

I saw this and was soooo hoping it was some type of work around for the quick weapon swapping issue during battle.... Sigh.. :(
