hello!

Is there anyway I can change my main-characters Name? I did not read anything about DAI before purchasing it. I replayed Dragon age origins and DAII in preperations though.

I named my DAO character Gray and as I lack any sort of creativity thought it would be cool to form a connection by naming my new character in DAI Dorian.

Now I played for a bunch of hours already and I just stumbled upon a companion on the net who is also named Dorian. I mean it is not so bad as they never say your name anyway, but it would be cool if there was some way to fix it. I really dislike replaying hours of content just for some name, that is still bothering though.

Thanks in advance

You could try editing your save with some sort of hex-editor (e.g. hexplorer). The name string should be easy enough to locate (use 'find text'), but there's always a risk of corrupting your save,  so back up first. And do not touch anything other than your name!!

That's if you're on PC, of course. I doubt one can edit console saves in any way.

Thanks for the heads up. I tried as you said, and it actually worked the fist time. But after the next autosave it kind of went back to the old name. Did I miss something? Do I have to disable the connection to BW servers? Does this have to be permanent in order to keep my "new" name?

thanks in advance

My guess is that the name is possibly stored in several places. Have you replaced the string only once? Try looking all over the file and check for more similar entries. Hope that helps.

Well it only finds the one Name according hexplorer. I have tried six times now and it only worked once, but as said it just rewrote the save back to the original name again.

God damit, the character creator is already such a frustration... If I would not be such a tool that actually needs to like his character. :/

All I can say is that apparently game has another source to take the name string from. If you say that it worked once - it should work again, but we need to find that another source. Could have something to do with syncing, but it's unlikely. You can try to turn it off though. Not going offline entirely, but turn off the 'upload\sync' stuff.

I'll try to bring a person that (I think) might help into this thread.

Thanks. I will answer if it should clear itself up in the meanwhile!
