1) Blackwall - I loved his earnestness and idealism a lot and the fact that he was rather masculine and burly was a huge plus. Easily one of my most favorite DA characters ever.

2) Solas - I thought he was rather cute in both looks and personality. I liked his reserved and knowledgeable nature as well.

3) Cole - A rather cute and endearing character despite a few quirks.

4) Vivienne - When she gives the Circle thing a rest, she's actually a really fun character to be around, but then again, I love my HBiCs.

5) Varric - An improvement over his DAII self, IMO. Actually has strong feelings about things instead of "going along to get along".

6) Cassandra - Didn't really do much for me one way or the other.

7) Iron Bull - Too "bro"ish for me. Pass.

8) Sera - Absolutely cannot understand a thing she says. Her pranks are kinda funny though.

9) Dorian - Arrogant, obnoxious, and cliched. His "jokes" are something I'd expect a pretentious middle schooler to spout to gain attention, which is fitting since that's exactly how he acts like.

Hmm, nice thread :)

1. Solas (I find him so fascinating, I love his accent, sounds really cool and he always has some good stories to tell of the fade.)

2. Cassandra (Romance option, I find her so strong and determined, loved her in DA2, now even more so! )

3. Varric (So funny, has some of the best dialogue in game, the fact that he also connects to DA2 makes me feel closer to the DA world.)

4. Cole (So interesting, especially since I've read Asunder. Always wanted to meet him and he's so much more perfect and true to character in game.)

5. Blackwall (I love the Grey Wardens, I find I have so much more respect for him and his views, me and him have so much in common.)

6. Sera (Funny, quirky but not really one of my favorites, I find she has no really drive in the Inquisition other then personal gain. I just find her unique as an archer.)

7. Dorian (Too sarcastic for me, interesting in some aspects because I love Tevinter and really want to go there.)

8. Vivienne (I was upset I couldn't romance her at first, now I'm kind of glad. Way too opposite with my thoughts, especially because I play as a Mage. Clash lots.)

9. Iron Bull (I honestly really want to like him but I can't get FPJ's face out of my head, really destroys the immersion for me so I try to steer clear.)

Advisros:

1. Leliana, I couldn't stop smiling when I first saw her, I think she's changed so much as a person and I'm so glad I knew her since Origins, I feel I have a deep connection with her.

2. Cullen, mainly because I knew him since Origins, he's a familiar face but too military driven for my liking.

3. Josephine, still don't know her much and I've been in Skyhold for a while, I've spoken to her a few times but I don't find her as appealing as the others.

I haven't finished the game yet, but so far....

1. Dorian - Absolutely love his humour and attitude, he almost always has me laughing and I find him almost equally interesting.

2. Solas - I was surprised by him, I do find him very interesting, but also very relatable.  I love his outlook and I love the way he deals with the others.

3. Cole - a very interesting character, I love watching what he'll do next and why.  He's also incredibly endearing with his attitude.

4. Cassandra - Surprisingly likable and human, she has a soft spot which I love.

5. Sera - Crazy as all hell, does not get along with my Quizzy, but heck she does keep things interesting.

6. Iron Bull - He hasn't done much for me yet....he does seem likable from what I've seen and does have some funny lines.

7. Vivienne - She still is a bit too...full of herself I guess, but she does have some interesting views that I agree with.

8. Varric - Rubs me the wrong way, a bit snarky towards some other companions.

9. Blackwall - He isn't bad per-say...he is just a bit dull...

Oh and as for the advisors my favourite has to be Cullen.  The other two I'm not as fond of, Leliana I suppose does have her charms, but she has become a little jaded  which doesn't gel as well with me.  Josie is...well....a little dull at best, a little annoying at her worst.

1. Dorian - Love his sarcastic sense of humor and the general vibrancy of his character.  Well written and fantastic VO that really seals the deal for me as my #1.

2. Iron Bull - For many of the same reasons as Dorian, but the Bull is a tad bit more serious and ever so slightly less sarcastic than Dorian.  But the quality of his writing and the banter...oh, the banter, puts IB at a very close second.  IB plus Sera almost made me spit onto my screen a couple of times.

3.  Sera - Again, a very close third.  Sera makes me lose my ****.  Seriously, this girl is crazy and I love her.  Her random lunacy keeps things fresh and exciting.  Another example of spot on VO too.

4.  Varric - Quality.  Good character, provides solid humor.  However, I ran with Varric in my party all the time during DA2 so I'm used to him and the impact is reduced.

5. Cassandra - Tough hottie, haven't been able to unlock enough of her quests to get to know her that well although she's one of my LI's (pursuing her and Josephine atm to see if Cassandra warms up).

6. Cole - if Dr. Kevorkian were a fade spirit...but seriously, Cole is pretty interesting, if weird.  I haven't gotten enough of his content unlocked to make a good judgement yet.

7. Solas - Mysterious elven mage.  His personality is a bit on the boring side to be honest.  Pretty bland.

8. Blackwall - generic warrior type.  Bland as hell.  Even the VO is bland.  If he weren't such an amazing tank, I'd never take him anywhere.  As it is, I mostly use him for his quests and that's it.  The Bull kills them quicker and survives well enough.

HUGE GAP!!!!!

9.  Viviene - KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE! Seriously, I can't stand her character.  I'm pro-mage in my play through and she's absolutely hateful.  It's murder knife territory.  Could they have written a character any more condescending?  I doubt it.  The absolute worst.

Advisers:

Josephine - cute as a button

Cullen - Tough and respectable now that he's ditched the templars

Leliana - a close third, but I don't buy her fall from faith.  I think she still reeks of Chantry.

1. Dorian (funny, intelligent, interesting)

2. Cole (I like this growth)

3. Sera (a true communist like me, haha)

4. Solas (grumpy sage)

5, Varric (ok, but too gloomy now)

6. Cassandra (sometimes cool and funny, but too many weird contradictions. A good hound, though)

7. Blackwall (*shrug*)

8. Iron Bull (I hate the Qun and all who defend it, no matter the "nice guy" attitude)

9. Vivienne (boring elitist)

I've seen hardly any party banter due to the bug, so feel like I missed out on a huge part of the characters. :/

1.-Varric (his personality is close to that of one of my RL best friends).
2.-Dorian (funny, intelligent, he could take the first spot).
3.-Cassandra (I'm kind of on the fence, gonna romance her on my second playthrough, I got the feeling that'll reassure her 3rd spot)
4.-Iron Bull (he's funny, has good values, I should probably take him out more, but the first three tend to take my party spots)
5.-Vivienne (I don't particularly like her, but I enjoy talking to her. It's the colleague I like to have, but she's no friend.)
6.-Blackwall (I don't have anyhting against him...that's like my whole opinion.)
7.-Solas (He's interesting, the same way a enciclopedia is. I don't like or dislike him, I wanna know more about the Fade I talk to him)
8.-Cole (the only thing that allowed him to stay is his intro. Good willed and want to help? I'll allow you to help, but you're not coming.)
9.-Sera Am-I-Funny-Yet? (RP reason to stay is because I'm sure that if I kick her Red Jenny and her friends will start annoying the Inquisition)

Advisors:
-Leliana (becasue I've always loved Leliana, not in the romance way, the whole faith, religion stuff turns me off, not that I can't be good friends with her, as happens IRL)
-Jossie (I like her, currently romancing her with my female qunari, it's being kind of ok, won't say anyhting else.)
-Cullen (I really disliked him but now, he's fine. I like him, he wouldn't be my choice for the position but I'd gladly have him around.)

I'm only ~35 hours in, so this may change, but...

1. Cassandra. Passionate, interesting and occasionally vulnerable too. Just well done, all round.

2. Varric. Despite now being a published and prolific author apparently (seriously, WTF??), he's still the same great Varric.

3. Vivienne. Gay icon. If only she'd stop saying 'my dear' every damn sentence.

4. Iron Bull. A cheerful, no-frills kinda guy.

5. Solas. A touch arrogant, but surprised me by being interesting and relatable.

6. Blackwall. A cheerless, no-frills kinda guy. But amazing in combat.

7. Cole. Haven't had him long and not had much from him, tbh. But I was worried he'd be a bit emo and sullen (haven't read the books), but thankfully I'm not getting that from him at all.

8. Dorian. Was a little disappointed. I think the writers wanted 'charming and witty' but leans more towards smug. Interesting insight on Tevinter, though.

9. Sera. Love the voice actress, but am torn on the writing. They've given this character a street-slang all her own. And while I do appreciate this in theory, I find it so hard to follow what she's saying. I understood virtually nothing she said in her introductory scene.

I do also want to add that I don't actively dislike any of the characters (so far). Collectively a very strong team of likeable, well-rounded and interesting (and well-voiced!) characters.

1. Cassandra - Awesome, plays a big part to the story early on and forming the inquisition.

2. Iron Bull - Great, interesting character.  Was worried a little about his voice acting in trailers, but in the game it's fantastic.  Better than I thought it would be.

3. Solas - Like him a lot more than I thought I would.  He's interesting to talk to and has a lot to add to the dialogue and story.

4. Dorian - Also like him a lot more than I thought I would.  Interesting backstory.

5. Varric - He's changed way too much from DA2.  He's like an old, beaten down man now.  Kind of depressing.

6. Blackwall - Love that he's a grey warden.

7. Cole - Interesting, but a little too mysterious. Kind of weird at times.

8. Vivienne - Kind of a B* too often.

9. Sera - Weird. I can barely understand anything she says. Doesn't seem to be very rational or live in the "real world" at times.

All the advisors are great.

Why would she be a gay icon? As far as I know she is straight, just uninterested in the Inquisitor.

This is a difficult one, especially since I haven't finished the game, but I'd like to share my opinions so far. Would like to see how it changes if at all :D

1 - Vivienne - A controversial choice I see! Even though she's often very condescending and narrow-minded regarding my Inquisitor's opinion of mages, there's something that makes me look up to her as a mentor- type of lady. She is wise and often gives good advice without beating around the bush even though it's not always what I would like to hear. I respect her for that and it keeps things interesting. Sort of makes me feel like I don't want to let her down which is probably doomed to ultimately happen since we disagree on the circle philosophy  :pinched:

2 - Dorian - So far I find him fun and interesting to have around. His stories appeal to me and more importantly, he laughs at my jokes! Plus he's super fabulous and he knows it.

3 - Cassandra - Definitely not as annoying as I had expected! She's absolutely grown on me, although she disapproves of almost everything my Inquisitor does. She does treat my Inquisitor with respect and I like to think they are able to put aside their differences and be friends in the end.

4 - Varric - Not as great as in DA2 but I will always love him. Just wish he had some more dialogue :>

5 - Iron Bull - Wasn't impressed with what I'd read about him before release, but that opinion was turned completely upside down from the moment I met him.

6 - Cole - I've only talked to him a few times, but I find him interesting. Perhaps the fact that my Hawke supported (or rather understood) Anders' decision and cared for him so deeply makes me hope that against all odds good spirits do exist. Please let Anders' struggle not be in vain T.T

7 - Solas - Used to be my number 1 companion but as the game progresses he's starting to annoy me. I respect him for his wisdom and his (hopefully) good intentions, but I get tired of him constantly rubbing in how superior he is over everybody else. I would have liked for him to be a bit more modest I suppose. He's one of the reasons I started over since I had intended to romance him and it turned out I did not enjoy being with him as much as I had hoped. The other reason being I wanted to play a rogue instead of mage since I like the mage companions more than the rogue ones overall.

8 - Blackwall - I just.. Meh.. Although I admit I haven't found out much about his story yet.

9 - Sera - I thought she was funny at first, but sadly she gets on my nerves more and more; she's too snobby about being not-elf-like (unlike my Inquisitor) and disagrees with everything I decide. I have more than once contemplated sending her away, but she deserves another chance since I'm very grateful to her for hooking me up with the glorious jar of bees  -_-

The advisors I all like equally really. Personally I feel Leliana has changed for the better since DA:O, where I found her a bit annoying at times, but also interesting. Now she's even more interesting but also seems to have done a lot of growing up over the past 10 years. I think Cullen's good at his job and I'm interested in his story. Oh how I remember his adorable stuttering at my Warden back in the Ferelden Circle tower! Josephine is a nice new addition! I absolutely love the entire diplomacy aspect of the game and I think she's great at it  :)

Many gay icons are straight.

1)  Blackwall - I don't even have room for him in my party (being a warrior and having Cassandra in my party already), but he just seems like a level dude, loyal and honourable.

2)  Cassandra - She's a little rough around the edges, but I find her endearing.  And her heart's in the right place.

3)  Varric - A scoundrel, but who doesn't like that?  Also has his heart in the right place.

4)  Iron Bull - Anyone else think he sounds like Rocky?

5)  Solas - Meh.

6)  Dorian - Meh.

7)  Sera - A little too quirky for my liking.

8)  Cole - Plain strange.  Plus he reminds me of someone unsavory in my own life.

9)  Vivienne - Cassandra on steroids without the redeeming qualities.  Condescending and arrogant.  And if I hear "my dear" one more time, she's getting the boot!  (If I can even do that)

Really surprised at how different everyone's list is!

Why would she be a gay icon? As far as I know she is straight, just uninterested in the Inquisitor.

It means that she's a diva and the slang "gay icon" is used for people who look up to divas as they are role models. I could be misinformed but I'm part of the LGBT group myself and I'm not trying to harm anyone.
