Yup. It makes your caltrops stick around longer. That's it.

... so that you can stare at it disappointedly even longer?

It's useless but not the *most* useless. I've gotten a few rings for skills that aren't even available in multiplayer mode at all (certain focus attacks).

The sad thing is, I'd still equip those over Enhanced Caltrops, if for no other reason than out of sheer spite.

Keep them, maybe those abilities will appear on new characters!

Do they actually show on the character? I'd be interested in going as a dwarf pimp all over with gold necklaces and gold rings'n'teeth. High heel boots and a pink stylish coat, too. Gotta be classy when he goes to Orlais.

Is the Caltrop skill even useful in DAMP?

Is the Caltrop skill even useful in DAMP?
nope.
With 95% of the players racing from room to room.... how could this be useful?
Maybe in level 5 (if you get your group to wait at the entrance)

Speaking of Caltrops, is there a bug with that ability?
When I use them with my archer this is what happens. Enemies approaching me fast that break through our melee players. I toss down Caltrops and try to back away firing thinking the enemy will get slowed by the caltrops. What really happens is that my archer gets pulled forward towards the enemy despite trying to back up as if the caltrops are magnetic.

Well, in my experience the primary purpose of Caltrops is to create a false sense of security. With that in mind... I'd say it's working as intended Beerfish.
Jokes aside, it sounds like rubber banding, but if you're not noticing any rubber banding prior to using the skill, then it could be a bug with it. I've never seen it happen though. Then again, I don't use Caltrops if I can help it, sooo...
