Only 250 saves across all of your characters?  For a game this huge, that really doesn't seem like enough to me.

Would it be possible to have this number increased or disable the limit on PC?  I planned on playing multiple characters and I'd really like to save more.   :(

(Sorry if someone has posted about this already)

I just ran into that this evening. Made another file to hold my old saves since I don't want to get rid of them while I'm in the middle of a game.

Okay, now that's just plain stupid.

Save limits on PC don't even make any sense. Why have one? For the cloud garbage? Who actually uses that on PC?

Just copy the oldest 240 into a "backup" folder and delete them from the main folder.

I have, but I think it's absolutely silly that I have to do so.

I do that in a fair amount of games just for house-keeping.

I hit the cap too. BW please fix this, an RPG game this size should not have this kind of limit.

Really, Bioware? ... and just when I thought you couldn't outdo your latest blunder, you manage to do it again.

(I still think you did a lot of awesome stuff in DA:I -- landscape design, music, characters; but some of your f-ups really just defy reason.)

I'm having a bit of a problem with this. I would prefer no limit, but I could deal with the 250 saves limit if I could just go to my save folder and sort out the save games that I don't need access too right now and put them in a folder somewhere for later. But it's impossible to, from the file names, determine which save belongs to which character and what save it is.

Right now i have saves from a Qunari, a human mage and a human warrior. All their files are mixed up in the same save folder and there's no way to determine which save belongs to which character and from what stage in the game they are.

Maybe I'm missing something. After ten saves, on my 11th I start deleting the last 8 from oldest to newest. What gives with never deleting them? Yes, I do keep the last three in case I need to go back.

Oh come on! This is hardly a blunder.

Why do you want to keep so many saves anyway?

Multiple characters,

Save before each Dragon & Main story events. You can see how saves would pile up very quickly. For me this is a concern because I'm not the only one playing on the same PC - I also have loads of space that I can use. It's silly that there's an artificial limit set.

EDIT: I would also like to add that if people are already experiencing issues in regards to this save limit a week after release then it is obviously a problem.

this doesn't include quicksaves, does it??

Nope, quicksaves overwrite themselves. Which is a big problem if you happen to corrupt your game. (Hence the old RPGing advice to save in different slots.)

Ok fair enough, I suppose I can get behind that argument.

Perhaps another indication of how half-heartedly the PC version was ported. :/

That's why when I roll one character and then want to switch I first back up all my saves. It works around bad file naming.

Why is this just a PC issue? Why wouldn't console players want more than 250 saves too?

Less storage space on consoles? The whole point of a console is not having to think about stuff like that, right?

250 saves is just about 100MB, which is the Origin cloud save limit. This is another example of EA pushing their distribution platform at the expense of quality of gameplay.

Does anyone know if this limit still applies when you don't enable the cloud saving? Because I think I have more than this across my two playthroughs, but I am at work so I can't confirm.

Another new feature that isn't as good as previous games. I mean we had our characters saved in slick little profiles before. Now im delving into the save folder and organizing my own having to exit game.

I'm 100% positive that I will never reach anything close to 250 saves (or care if I did and had to delete old saves I was never going to go back to anyway), but, yeah, seems silly to limit players to 250 saves.  Let people use up however much hard drive space that they want to.

I have 250 saves only in hinterlands, and I must say save limit was always what I hated.
I don't need to save but I like to... in case of a sudden (which means expected in this game) crash.
