So Bioware promoted for some time that companions will leave you if their approval falls low enough. Has anyone had this happen to them yet? With which companions? What happened in their interaction with you as they left?

I heard that if Varric's approval is low,

Hawke dies at Adamant, and you keep the Wardens,

 

he'll leave, though I don't know if this is actually true or not.

During Sera quest with the nobleman, you can tell her, basically, that "this should never happen again". And she gets pissed and there's an options where you can tell her to get the hell out. With Blackwall, if you have him in your party and you dismiss the Warden's to Orlais, you have an option to send him with them.

 

Those are the ones I know.

Cole left me and nothing I could say would change his mind.  I had to go back 3 hours to a previous save to do his quest for him.

I haven't had this happen to me yet, but I thought I did at one point. When Blackwall's companion quest comes up, his card is 'x'-ed out and I had assumed he left D:

 

Luckily, that wasn't the case. I guess this is a forewarning to those who haven't made it to this point, not to worry!

Is there anyway to actually get Vivienne to leave? I would really hate to actually have her wasting space in Skyhold, talking down to everyone for the rest of the game.

I havent actually had anyone leaving the Inquisition, although Sera was close at one point, after the "never do it Again" thing.

 

My Hawke died in the fade at Adament and i kept the wardens and Varric still stayed

she's already seeing someone else. She'll tell you about her lover if you ask, and the announcer will mention him in her introductions if you take Vivi to the grand ball.

I had the option to send some followers away at some point, didn't do it.. But was tempted with some lol.. Didn't like them all from the get go
