Not too sure where to post this question, so I apologize if this is not the place to put it. Other than cosmetic, does unlocking a T2 armor do anything? I was a leggionare teaming with another one and when I died and went to the fade I noticed he had much higher armor then I, not sure how exactly.
Also, is there anywhere to get just good in general information on the multiplayer portion of the game? I tried the wikia but its an empty husk right now.
Is crafting Tier 2 armors worth it?

T2 armor gives you more armor, and the alt. skins give slightly more than the base T2.
As for information, this is a pretty good place. I wouldnt really know where else to redirect you.

It also changes your appearance (except for Necro and Katari, because apparently no one likes them). In the case of some classes, there's a lot of value in that alone. I can't tell you how thrilled I was to get my T2 armor on my Arcane Warrior... and how disappointed I was when I got it on my Reaver.

So 'Alternate Skins' are better than T2 armor? Good to know.
I appreciate everyone's input, trying to increase my tankiness, and more armor always helps.

The alternate T2 are slightly better than the T2. You will be able to craft those alternate once you have crafted the plain T2. Or you can wait to get them in a chest.

Thanks alot for the reply. I did indeed craft T2 armor and then the alternate version. I find it odd you only get a net gain of something around 15-20 armor from the more basic armor's, although I admit I do not know how the armor calculations are done in this game so that small extra amount could make the difference.

Imo, much of the items in mp were balanced with the assumption there would be more healing mechanics, and differences in damage reduction are more significant when there are more healing mechanics. Virtually all of the damage reduction % upgrades are far outclassed by their +HP and +HP on kill counterparts in MP, so you should save the +HP upgrades for your favorite classes and always go for the +HP on kill weapons/accessories. To use an analogy, a high MPGe low-range electric car only makes sense if you can drive and recharge it a lot, but if you are only allowed to refill/recharge five times or a few ounces/kwh every now and then, a low MPG high-range car will get you further.

%HP on kill, sure. That's a solid stat. +HP though? Until we can see what our HP value actually is, it's hard to say how valuable those actually are. Judging from incoming damage numbers, I'm guessing that base HP is somewhere upwards of 600. So that +24HP mod isn't really adding much. Even so, there's no way I'm replacing my 14% melee defense mod with a +HP mod. Part of that though is that I frequently play a Reaver, so with lifesteal I benefit more from resistance than I do extra health.

The only way i've ever seen hp values is when im in the fade looking at teammates. General hp is around 600-700. Tankier characters have a bit more. I know katari can get (maybe exceed) 1000.

The alt variants of each armor grade also have slightly different attack type resistances (some more to ranged damage than others, for example.), so it'snot all armor rating and appearance.
That said? Arcane Warrior really needs that upgrade. I can't stand that David Bowie jumpsuit he's got going on. ![]()

I've heard this rumor about variants having different resistances, but all of my armor variants have identical stats. Do you know which armor specifically this applies to?

I was like so excited about Arcane Warrior but after seeing it with the jumpsuit in a few pug sessions, I was like, nah, I am going to unlock the Elementaliset instead. ![]()

Just save up so you can craft the T2 armor immediately afterwards. It looks much better, haha.

Yeah I do find it odd there is no way to check what your hp and mp/stamina are, and thanks for the heads up on the worth of +hp on kill items.
Speaking of +hp on kill, I think it is the Necromancer and the Elementalist that have an hp/mp restore when they are near a bad guy who dies, does anyone know how far away you can be from the deceased to reap the benefits? I love the idea of hp/mp restore but i dont like the idea of having to be so close up to get it.

I don't know the exact distance, but I can say it's a pretty large radius. Roughly inside of AoE targetting range I'd say. It's an excellent passive and you should absolutely get it.
As for the value of T2 armor, I'm running tests to determine just what Armor Rating does. From my initial findings, it appears Armor Rating is a flat damage reduction (such as 57 Armor Rating reduces damage by 57). If that interpretation holds up, then higher armor is most beneficial against weaker enemies. 20 extra armor would reduce damage by 20. If you're getting hit by a mob for 40 before upgrading, then that's a 50% damage reduction. If you're getting hit for 100, it's only a 20% damage reduction, and so on. Ultimately, it looks like the armor bonus is most beneficial for routine difficulty. For higher difficulty tiers, I suspect %resist mods are going to be much more effective.

Do you have to have crafted T2 to get the T2-alts from loot?
Just wondering if one sits on T1 armour, if T2 will drop by itself eventually.

I got an alt-T2 from a chest just after having crafted the T2, and I am pretty sure I also got a regular T2 from loot, while I had not made any upgrade on this kit.
I guess sometimes patience is rewarded!

I was super annoyed when I crafted the T2 armour for the Katari, and the appearance didn't change. That is weaksauce.

Armors are akin to "skins" you might see in other games. The stat differences will be minimal as the major change is supposed to be visual. They're to make you the prettiest warrior prince(ess) you always knew you could be!

Yep, sorry about that iphan4tic, there are a few armors with visuals not showing up but hang on to the armor we're going to be fixing these in a future patch.

Super glad to hear that! I am curious, will you eventually introduce chest's similar to that of Mass Effect 3? By this I mean the ones that would specifically give you higher chances of specific loot, like guns, or new races, or higher chance for super rare? One thing I find very annoying with this multiplayer is you keep getting the same low level junk over and over, it isnt like ME3 multiplayer where once you get a gun to its X varient, you will no longer see them when you open a loot chest.

Bioware has employees on the boards? WHAT?! I feel like I just saw a unicorn.
No but for real though; thanks for the explanation. Can you give us some details on how big of a difference armor levels actually make in terms of mitigation? If I prefer the default Templar look (which I do) should I just stick with that then because the difference is negligible?
