I just finished the game, and while I enjoyed it, there was some stuff that bother me. The one that bug me the most however was the new Divine. I know that there are 3 choices for the new Divine, Cassandra, Leliana, and Vivienne. I got Cassandra as the new Divine, while I didn't romanced her, I heard she will break off the romance with the Inquisitor as the new Divine.  Leliana can also become the new Divine, which bother me since I love Warden-Leliana romance and how she said that she will join her love once everything is done in DAI. While it didn't state if Leliana will break off the romance or not if she becomes the new Divine, I rather have her traveling the world with the Warden, or at least get away from the Chantry for her sake. That leaves Vivienne, whose views on not changing the old system of the Chantry something I do not agree with.

I don't see why Bioware didn't add Mother Giselle as a candidate. She fits the role better than a Seeker who is trying to rebuild the Seeker Order, a Bard/spymaster that people feared, or a mage who just want power. I mean, her view on magic and swords being both dangerous when one is prideful is a fresh air with the Mage-Templar War. She can also inspired people in dark time, (after Cory attack Haven and everyone seem to lost hope), something we need after everything that had happened. Also, after her help with the refugee in Mage-Templar war, I think people would be glad to her someone like her as the new Divine. Last but not least, after Haven, she basically didn't do anything at all. I was thinking maybe she is still in the Inquisition because she has a role later in the game, like for example being the new Divine, but nope.

Do you guys want Mother Giselle as a candidate for the new Divine? I mean, I don't mind Cassandra's or Leliana's view on the new Chantry, but I really don't want to mess up their romances also when there is a far better candidate.  And I just don't agree with Vivienne's view of not changing something that is broken.

Mother Giselle would have been a good option. Alas, it is not in the game.

My quizzi will romance Cass so she is out of the question so it leves between Lelilana and Vivienne.

I love the "X for DLC" or "Patch X in" threads.

I just don't see why wasted a good character since she does almost nothing once we get to Skyhold. Well, maybe I want want this because I don't like the 3 candidates since 2 of them are romances options and the 3rd option most people, I included, dislike.

So just make different world states. In one, your Inquisitor doesn't romance Cass but your Warden romances Leliana and you make Cass the divine. In another, your Warden doesn't romance Leliana, your Inquisitor romances Cass, and you make Leli the divine.

Well since all 3 of them would be named "Divine Victoria", I think its a means to write them off so we won't be seeing Cassandra, Leliana, or Vivienne in any large roles because you know...variables and all that

If leliana become divine, does that mean she broke out with warden?

not necesarilly for example the real popes should be chaste and in no romantic or sexual relationships. But as we know quite a number of them were not I guess it can apply to divine's also. And the previous one was not chaste before she became one and the one before her seemed to have some sort of relationship with the chantry cleric that tried to kill her.

I agree with this I would have liked her as the choice of the next Divine as I think she understands that both Mages and non Mages can be a danger. She doesn't see it from one prespestive as the one's you pick. But nope I can't have views like her in Dragon Age. Rolls eyes

I didnt even want Leliana as DIvine or Cassandra, but if I had to choose it would have been Cassandra. I didnt tell her to be divine because I thought "Oh I might convince Mother Giselle"

Mother Duckface needs to pick an accent before we go elevating her to Divine status.

I got Vivienne as the Divine and it said that she gave mages more freedoms and made sure the templars were only there for protection and not abusing their power. I think that's pretty  good.

Best choice imo.

But Giselle would have been my first choice. Perfect candidate, and yet for arbritrary reasons, they've got to make it the companions instead. Last thing people fantasize about when buying an RPG is losing party members and turning them into a Pope.

"For the greater good." I doubt it. Something will just screw up the world again, no matter what we choose (not that I mind. It's why the games are fun.).

I'm more interested in how they're going to reconcile those choices in the next game. One Divine abolishes the Circles, another one reinstates them.

I guess the only way would be setting DA4 in Seheron/Tevinter/Anderfels.

Cassandra seems to do the same thing, though. Are there multiple possible outcomes for each Divine because I also heard that Vivienne can cause a lot of mayhem as Divine.

Yeah like Alistair, he's played no roles in DA2 or DAI dependent on his status at the end of DAO. Oh wait.

I have to give props for Bioware for including Alistair, but there's still so much things they go out of their way to eliminate variables. I mean how many of those 50 choices you made in the Dragon Age Keep came into play when you played DA:I?

Sorry, blame Dorian. He's the one who specialises in Necromany...

When I first met Giselle (this was actually over 1 game ago, but I willingly chose Vivi as Divine, since the others were in romance), my initial thought is that she would be the new Divine. Then I found out that a new Divine could be chosen. I looked this thread up in the hope that she gets to be the Divine. Really a huge missed opportunity. Especially for those whose Quizzies are like Mother Giselle, and thus, would choose her over the rest, even over Cass.

I would hope that BioWare puts more of a focus on minor NPCs in future. Not everyone is obsessed with their companions to the point where messing with them or attempting to give them more of a focus, is more important to creating a good story than focusing on minor characters that help make that story believable and strong - especially the ones that aren't popular (i.e. aren't Flemeth, Sandal, etc.).

In Origins, BioWare was initially going to make Allison (the young woman who needed help with protecting her crops w/o using poison like Barlin, in Lothering) a romance. But they scrapped that. I seem to recall forumites saying they hope BioWare will make NPCs LIs - which they did, but important ones whom ended up being hugely important characters, even without their romance.

I've to admit that I was surpised that we couldn't elect her as a divine she was with us since the begining and provided us good advices. I liked her and I would've been happy to make her Divine.

Probably correct. The same goes for Hawke, since he can die in this game.
