did any of you noticed that the Ash warriors were Kossith? I mean it make you wonder how far spread they are.

I am guessing most of you didn't read the WoT book, or simply missed it. But a group of Kossith arrived in the southern Kocari Wilds Well before The Steel Age, in -410 Ancient. They are "likely killed off in the First Blight, giving rise to Ogres in Thedas".

nevermind, dumb me didn't read all the rest of the replies before posting lol.

Doesn't matter, just a sore loser after you defeated him.

Heh, twice...

But that is rather interesting. Haven't done a Qunari run yet.

It's not necessarily a Game of Thrones reference. Alistair has dragon blood, for instance.

He means the 'It is known' line.

Well if you talk to Bull he says the Qunari were forced to leave their original home where the Kossith live.  And he mentions that they probably look nothing like Quinari.  He also mentions that they breed themselves for specific jobs just like how we breed dogs.  So it is not hard to imagine that they are just a highly purposefully breed branch of one of the other species in the game world.

Qunari = Geth?

Hear me out here, this is an insane idea I had after recruiting James... I mean THE IRON BULL! Mr. Bull mentions that the Kossith weren't the horned race at all and something else, there once may have been a vague similarity but for whatever reason the Horned race had to flee/leave the Northern lands and came to Thedas. He also says that the Kossith wouldn't look like the Horned Qunari at all, perhaps they even magically changed appearance.

So my thought was, the Kossith are a magically gifted race who designed and grew the Qunari like organic robots with the Qun itself being something like a psychological block/safety switch and/or Asimov's Three Laws. The Kossith based the Qunari on them but possibly bigger and with intimidating horns. Hornless Qunari are a genetic defect. The Kossith still exist North of Thedas but their civilization had probably splintered/weakened due to some natural or (accidental) disaster which also caused the horned Qunari to abandon their former masters.

The Qunari much like the Geth were meant as slaves and soldiers, they retain their Qun based programming and try to execute it to the best of their ability. The high priests probably know this but keep it a secret from everyone else. And one day the Kossith will return so they can re-capture their creations.

Thoughts?

He's probably just tired of all the Kossith vs Qunari debates.

You knooow, I'm playing a female qunari in a keep save that has the OGB. Now, Idk if I even heard him right--it went so fast, but...he says, Morrigan didn't tell him that I was qunari. I say..lol--that's usually the first thing ppl notice abt me. Then OGB smiles, tilts his head to the side and says, "I noticed that your blood does not belong to your people."

Mind you, Idk if I even heard that right. It went so fast. Then Morrigan was all Jimmy on the spot outta nowhere to send him to do his homework. I couldn't reload to hear just that. So not sure if he actually that , or not. And if so......wait, what?

Also there was that text abt the "Pyramids of Par Vollen" in the dusty library of SkyHold. It basically talks abt how Par Vollen was the first land in Thedas to be taken by the Qunari, but Par Vollen had a rich history before the Qun ever came. Ruins of vast cities were there. Seems as though the land and race that built those pyramids were human, and advanced--yet there is no sign of battle from when the qunari took over.

There are temple ruins with images of tall, horned creatures--from before the qunari showed up--and those images were held in high regard. So, the author speculates that maybe that's why there are no signs of resistance from this advanced race when the qunari came...

....I would love to see Par Vollen and examine this stuff meself.

Man, you miss a lot by bringing Varric and Sera to the Corypheus battle and killing him super fast. I never heard 90% of the lines that you can supposedly get there.

lol! @ 9Tails.

@Draining Dragon, I don't remember that precisely, but I've heard others say that. I imagine if Bull did say that--and the part abt how qunari worship, or once worshipped dragons? , added to the line from OGB abt my blood not belonging to my ppl, and the Kossith running the qunari outta town on a rail..

I can imagine the qunari starting out as sum weird cult that perhaps ingested *eyeroll* dragon blood and that changed them. Perhaps the other "kossith" saw the act as something vulgar and a transgression and ran them out.

So, now qunari have dragon blood in them, but it is the result of sum corruption...?

That's all I got. lol! However, it could be some interesting stuff there in future games.

As I remember it, there has been a thread about this, discussing how the Qunari had dragon blood in them. And possibly also were dragons? before they were (created as) Qunari. I think that the theory about how another race created the Qunari could well be the truth. Although, it also calls for much speculation....

I haven't heard this myself as I have not yet completed a Qunari run. However, reading this and the remark Coryfish made, I think they just mean that the Inquisitor isn't part of the Qun. As the Qunari are not actually a race but followers of the Qun, wasn't it?

  • "I may be Qunari but I was raised an elf."

This is a quote by Tallis I nabbed from the DA wiki.

I do love all the wild theories though. I often imagine the world of Thedas being a planet in ME's universe and one day the two titles will merge into one game. :')

Kieran said to my Qunari inquisitor, something like, 'your blood doesn't belong to your race'...

Iron Bull said after defeating a dragon in the hinterlands, he felt it speaking to him. Maybe elven Gods were trying to combine, mix, create... with Dragon gods?It failed and thus qunari were born?

Well, Qunari the race might be Soldiers Slaves made by someone or something. Similar to making robots or clones, they might've been made to be expendable super soldiers to be used for a religious group to rule and force influence, and somehow those slaves turn on their leaders, but continued with the same tradition. Rules by force.

I don't think they were elves or created by elves. having pointy ears doesn't seem a good enough indicator for me (dwarves have round ears like humans).  I believe that the Kossith were similar to Tevinter and Orlais. Capable of great technological and cultural feats but still corrupt and dark on the inside (with some exceptions). The Ashkaari Koslun saw this and decided to try to change it, make something better (the Qun). Somewhere along the line someone saw that Dragons posess many favorable qualities and tried to transfer those into the Qunari race. that would explain why those who are chosen as warriors tend be a little on the angrier side, they show more reaver/dragon-like qualities.

Edit: The Kossith probably ran them out because they saw how much momentum the Qun was gaining and want to flush them out before they were overthrown. maybe the Kossith also have Gaatlok.

The only answer to that quote starts with an "F" and ends with a "U". Also to punch him in the face a few times and then some more.

Meh he called them a mistake because they were originally going for the tiefling appearance but messed up with their calculations and forgot the tails. That's why corefifish is so mad, they were his favorite d&d race...

You could be over thinking it. Keiran could simply be referencing that the Qunari Inquisitor is Vashoth. Thus your blood does not belong to your people because you do not follow the Qun.

Bull DOES say the kossith would've looked nothing like the qunari. Maybe that dragon-distillation theory has some weight.

Personally I'm a fan of a theory I saw here on BSN earlier (though I can't find the thread) - that the qunari were originally bred as a slave race to a predecessor (maybe the kossith themselves). That the Qun is them turning the slave mentality into a philosophy.
