Considering the ending Dragon Age Inquisition had, does anyone else wish/hope that you'll be able to play as the Inquisitor in Dragon Age 4?  I realize it's highly unlikely, considering the precedence, but would anyone else be interested in this possibility? While The Warden couldn't transfer considering his/her possible death, I think the Inquisitor is more likely because he is still in a position of power. Hawke, iirc, while the Champion of Kirkwall, doesn't really transfer well as a character to such a large-scale plot that Inquisition had, and it might have felt contrived to elevate him to a higher status, maybe? I'm not sure. Maybe I'm just trying to justify my thoughts, I guess. Either way, I was just wondering if anyone else would be interested in the Inquisitor coming back as the playable character, like Shepard in Mass Effect. If so, why? For myself, the Inquisitor was the first character I've gotten connected to to this level since Shepard, I was just never a big fan of The Warden or Hawke, not that they were bad by any means.

So, what do you think?

I'm torn on that. I've come to really like the Inquisitor, and would probably welcome more and more story for this character, but at the same time, I really enjoy stepping into a new character and creating a different look and trying out a different personality, and of course getting to know a totally (or at least mostly) new batch of companions.

YE$!! Like I say in another post... Bioware you create a good, charismatic character, now let us keep playing with him!

I would love to play some more with the Inquisitor! If Bioware releases some awesome dlc/expansion I think I will be okay.  There are more stories to tell with this pc and I hope they capitalize on it.  Considering we can continue playing after the final I think this is the best way.  This way they can continue the tradition of a new pc in each game but still give us more time/closure with this pc.

Post game is a husk compared to before the ending. Companions don't even talk, and a lot of quests are removed.

Bioware is going to have a new PC in DA4. That I'm certain of. I'd expect the Inquisitor to be a background character in the next full release.

But on the bright side, we likely have a year or so of story DLC to continue our Inquisitors' adventures.

I'd rather some dlc/expansions with the inquisitor and have DA4 just be a new character all together. We're bound to get an Awakening sized expansion for DAI.

I would love to play as my Inquisitor again. DLC or whole new game, all I want is for Bioware to tie up all of the loose ends they left hanging.

Also I feel like Inquisition was a lot of buildup for relatively little payoff. It was glorious, well-crafted buildup, but it left me wanting more. And it's gonna be a real kick in the teeth if we don't get to fulfill all of the potential that the Inquisition has. To be honest, I don't want a new protagonist right now. I want to spend more time with my Inquisitor.

I would be very, very surprised if they didn't do at least a hefty story DLC, if not an awakening style expansion, if DA4 didn't feature the inquisitor as the main character. They made things set up so neatly to keep your whole party and everyone to not do so.

I don't mind if the next game has a different protagonist, but if they do then I really really, like, desperately, need some kind of Inquisition dlc that lets me get closure for my Solas romance. If I can get some kind of dlc to tie up that loose end I don't mind what they do in the next game really :P

Spoiler regarding the end of the game and Solas:

I don't think Solas is going to be an antagonist. He doesn't come off as evil. He just seems to be a strange loner more than anything.

I think we'll get a few story DLC packs, maybe even a sizeable expansion. The world feels like it's made for that, and with DAI being the size it is, it's totally immune to the accusation of delivering content piecemeal so DLC should be well-received - though any added civilian outfits or Skyhold repair elements should be part of something bigger since I think many people would feel those should've been part of the main game.

The next DA game, however, will have a different protagonist and that's good. I've come to like the way DA does this.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel! I think the Inquisitor has so much potential, along with the Inquisition, that wasn't fully explored in DA:I. In my ideal world, the next game would have you play him/her again and flesh out more aspects of the organization and the character itself, though it seems most people here are more interested in a new hero again ;(

I'm hoping for an Awakening styled expansion. Probably will never happen, but a girl can hope.

You dont have to be evil to be the antagonist , the arishok for example comes to mind and since you seem to be a FF fan , sephiroth is another that wasnt 'evil' just misguided kinda.

I would love to  keep playing as my inquisitior though , i've grown attached to him and what i've built in this game and the epiogue suggests that they can definitely build on what was done in DA I with the same cast pretty much.

I want a new protag solely for the chance of new origins. If we could get "Tal-Vashoth Deserter" or "Tevinter Noble," that would just be the coolest thing.

Consider that bioware already put a panal of inquisition on keep even before the game itself was released. I think inquisitor story will be continued sooner than we though. Clearly they already plan for something which probably not just DLC.

I was concerned with the epilogue.

If there'll be a 4th DA, it might revolve around the Old Gods theme.

Solas wanted the elven orb for himself, that much is clear. But why?

In Mythal's temple, Morrigan shares information regading the fate of the Old Gods.
First, she says they were obviously dragons. I emphasize obviously because it means the elves worshipped these grotesque creatures, instead of normal gods, with anthropomorphic resemblance.

(So the same Old Gods from Tevinter, which we all come to despise because they led the magisters to open the first rift in the Veil a thousand years ago, in search of the so-called "throne" -probably the source of all magic power-, are also the elven gods of myth, right? So Dumat would be Elgha'nan, Urtemiel could be Mythal, asf.)

Secondly, Morrigan can turn into a dragon, like Flemeth, hence having herself the power of an Old God.
So the gods of Thedas are actually dragons that can shapeshift into human form and transfer their soul into a mortal vessel.

However, there's one more bit of information worth looking into.

According to Morrigan, those gods were sealed in the Beyond. It is said to be a place beyond the Fade itself.
And what is the key that opens the lock of their prison?

An eluvian. Or the elven orb. Which Solas procured to try and do...what? Release the remaining Old Gods from the Beyond and back into the world.

In the end, everyone was being manipulated by the Old Gods. Corypheus was an enemy, but not the guy behind the master plan.
That was Solas, after consorting with Flemeth.

(Kinda makes me wish I hadn't done the Dark Ritual with Morrigan now...)

Whatever happens in the next DA, it might involve finding another key to unlock the Prison of the Gods.
It will also involve explaining just what the hell are these entities. Are they gods such as the human conception of deities or just spirits with extraordinary abilities?

And can they reverse the taint and its effects on living beings? Or can they all become corrupted, like the Archdemons?
What would it mean for the rest of Thedas? Could their corruption have repercussions on magic itself and all who use it (the mages)?

Also, it is said that the Old Gods were sealed in underground prisons after the first Blight. Who sealed them? How was that done? And if they're underground, then why the hell was Solas trying to use an orb that opens a rift in the sky?

And lastly, Solas just absorbed Mythal's essence. If he continues to absorb the rest of the Old Gods, say, to preserve their power if they come to be in any danger...could he become the One God, aka the Maker himself?

PS: Mythal said she was betrayed. Who betrayed her? The elves or the magisters? Because I'm not too sure now that it was the magisters...

The elves said they had brought their own destruction upon themselves. Was that a consequence of their betrayal of the Old Gods?

And if it were, then did these same gods manipulate the magisters of Tevinter to make them open a rift in the Fade, go to the Beyond (under their instruction) and open the Prison of the Gods?

(After all, Corypheus says very clearly he will NOT be a pawn of the gods anymore. And if you read the Codex about the magisters of old, it is said they were guided by the voices of the Old Gods and did everything according to what they said -INCLUDING opening a ****** rift in the Veil!)

That said, could the Blight actually be the Old Gods's fault, and NOT of the magisters of Tevinter? What are the implications of this?

Thoughts, anyone?

One more thing: the Codex states Fen'Harel locked the Gods in that prison.

But Elgha'nan used to fight all the time with Mythal.

And Mythal was friends with Fen'Harel.

Could it be Elgha'nan tried to do something bad to Mythal and the other gods and Fen'Harel protected them by sending them to the Beyond? But at some point, he was unable to reopen the entrance, thus turning their hideout into an unwilling prison?

And if so, is Elgha'nan an entity like the Maker? The All-Father, the masculine principle of nature?

Where is he now? Locked in the Beyond as well? He can't be dead...those creatures don't die.

Could he be out there, hunting Mythal and Fen'Harel? And if so, will he confront Solas in the 4th game? Will we be able to pick a side (defend Elgha'nan or Fen'Harel)?

So many questions...
