I see people are stroking their EA hate boners.

Here, have a tissue.

I mostly agree with everything the OP stated. I like the game, but its an action adventure not an RPG.

I too mostly agree with the OP. Very disapointed, but sadly not shocked one bit. I'm just glad I'm playing a friend's version who had a mishap and isn't able to play games for a few days. I certainly won't be buying it.

And to dismiss Metacritic is folly. Just because it's not a 0/10 game doesn't mean that people aren't dispaoiunted by it.

Personally I'd hate the whole MMO feel, don't like the combat, think the story is pants, and the whole thing just doesn't provide me with any type of RPG experience which Bioware provided for over a decade to us. It's crazy how far wide of the mark they are now shooting.

I'm playing pure tactical cam on XB1. It's utterly wonky, especially indoors, but I work around it.

I think the overall issue is the gaming population is aging and has less time, and other avenues of entertainment beckon. They could have put out a game with endless tabs of spreadsheet displays of stats and spells, but how many people would buy it?

Oh, and none of the games you listed let me play as a gay magic wielding athiest—so there you go.

Kind of hard to be an atheist when there's a hole in the sky puking demons. Just saying' ;-)

I play as a qunari atheist.. just pick every option that opposes the chantry and denies that you are chosen by andraste.

I'm really not understanding the hate some people have for the game..

It pretty much blows all other Dragon Age games (and even Mass Effect 1) out of the water for me. The characters are actually interesting and have strong points of view. Quests ACTUALLY mean something (sure they may be "fetch quests" but let's face it, this is a game where fetch quests can actually DO something - get you talent points, items, money, influence points that help you do well in the field, etc).

And as for the plot...I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I just finished the warden plot line and holy sh*t. That was so good. Much better than previous dragon age plots. I've never understood this undying love for dragon age origins - as if it's the best RPG ever made. I don't think I ever will. But this game I'll play for years.

And if people have SUCH problems with farming resources - have your inquisition do that. It takes them MAX of 15 min to collect herbs/ minerals. You send them to do that and you can concentrate on other things. They come back with 6 at a time which is definitely enough to customize equipment.

I feel I'm in the minorty, I don't give a ****, but this game is fantastic. I want more like it.

I look at it as an really fun Jade Empire-KOTOR crossbreed. KOTOR had no tactical camera but it's a beloved RPG that stands the test of time. (ok not the graphics) RPGS do not need to be stat heavy slogs like Original Sin and Wasteland 2, which are both great games don't get me wrong.

That's not atheism, that's just rejecting the Andraste religion. You would have to be a fool to be an atheist in the Dragon Age universe, where there is conclusive proof of many gods an different planes of existence with spirits and demons. Even mainline Qunari cannot be described as atheists; they simply reject associating with the supernatural, they don't deny that it exists.

This "backlash" that you say exists - where is it? I haven't seen anything that is even remotely typical of a backlash. And for the love of God, cut down on using platitudes.

No one made this "out to be a disaster". You're in a very small island indeed with this opinion, almost schizophrenic! It's an infinitely more appealing game than the previous Dragon Age games for all the things you don't like. You already have your games, this one isn't for you--you don't have to change it.

By the way, people who throw words around like casual and simplified tend to use badly rationalized opinions to conceal their wish to gatekeep how and what kind of people can enjoy videogames.

See Gamergate for worst case scenario.

Considering how many people are obviously incredibly disappointed in this completely messed-up release, it's hard to say that "no one made this out to be a disaster". In fact, I'll just say it; this is a disaster. It's an infinitely less appealing game than DAO.

There might be a decent game under all the problems, but with crippled controls, crippled Tactics, and major bugs like the no-banter bug making the game very difficult to play in current form, it's really hard to know...

It's a bit like a beautiful ship, with polished mahogany planks, high-tech equipment and an on-board swimming pool... that lacks a rudder.

It's not a Titanic-style disaster, but it's not a particularly useful ship until the rudder gets fixed.

I swear this community is bipolar.

You guys spend waaay too much time here.

And thanks for creating yet another throw away topic.

You want to be helpful? Support this topic: http://forum.bioware...2#entry17893933

Also, I think the word backlash fits better when used to describe Halo: MCC, Destiny and Driveclub.

All I'm hearing is that you complainers want a full remake of DA Origins.

Bioware will announce that......when Sony announces the release date of Last Guardian.

Yeah, Metacritic is a valid source of gamer opinion, what will all the 0/10 scores that literally appeared within hours of its release. You'll pardon my skepticism when I see reviews like this little gem on the front-page;

Have been playing since the game came out midnight last night and I can't play anymore. The dialogues don't make sense. Let me repeat myself, the dialogues do not make sense. There is little logic or reason to the majority of the things that the characters say, the conversations are so random you think over half of it was cut out or they were randomly placed around, and it is so bad that it makes the writing in ME3 and DA2 look fantastic in comparison. That's not to say those other games had good writing, it is just that the writing in DA3 has gotten so bad that it DOES NOT EVEN MAKE SENSE.

I'm not even going to say anything about the graphics, animations, or gameplay, because I can't appreciate any of it when I feel like I'm being tortured by how stupid the story is. I really don't know what to say, I am really at a loss of words to get across just how bad the writing is. If I was a teacher and an elementary school student handed me a paper with this kind of nonsensical disjointed **** I would immediately give him an F, hand him a Dr. Seuss book, and pray to god he can overcome his retardation.

I don't know how the big game reviewers can overlook such bad writing and give this game mostly 90+ ratings. Maybe they all have the literacy of 4th graders. Personally I feel like DA3 writers are either retarded or they think we are mushrooms and think we can just be fed **** Yeah well I for one feel insulted and betrayed. DA1 and ME1/2 had good writing, and that's why I bought the games and gave DA2 and ME3 a chance, and although these later games obviously had worse writing, THEY WERE STILL COMPREHENSIBLE, WHILE MOST DA3 WRITING IS JUST TRASH! EVEN VARRIC'S SENSE OF HUMOR WAS DESTROYED! WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?

Give me a break.

EDIT: This is actually more and more entertaining the more I read! Yes, let's consider the opinion of these astute individuals. They bring up some valid, constructive criticism about Bioware's failing in Dragon Age: Inquisition!

Absolutely horrendous.
First of the animations are absolutely terrible, you have head turns which look a epileptic being exposed to strobe lights.
Graphical clipping everywhere, the textures are terrible almost none of them are more then 720.
The writing is abysmal and reminds me much of Twilight, or 50 shades of grey with its unabashed corniness and focus on characters sexuality
 instead of their personality.
The combat is depressing with no auto-attack and shallow generic abilities combat just ends up being me bashing buttons with very little strategic thought other then to stun enemies periodically.
I'm surprised anyone buys anything from EA, anymore.

How about this; people have a serious ax to grind against EA/Bioware and will use any argument under the sun to perceive them as incompetent and utterly vile.

You my friend just summed up roughly 80-90% of people who comment on the Bioware forums.

Bravo.

While I don't think DAI is a disaster by any means; it still has problems.

Mainly the tactical camera. So much for using the open environment to plan an ambush with my party...

Sigh, there's an edit button... and now I've clicked your link several times, only to always arrive at the same post you made, which isn't even particularly illuminating.

The way you're complaining about complaints (... ironic, isn't it?), one would think you haven't seen all the more or less brilliant threads pointing out both flaws and ways to improve. You just need to look around a bit -- would be better for your blood pressure too.

OP - don't agree with your analysis so I am curious as to which games you have played that you enjoyed and was a well executed game from top to bottom?

Dragon Age Origins apparently. You know, because that game was so perfect when it came out, am I right?

I swear, nostalgia is quickly killing this industry.

It's a great game. All the people working on it did an amazing job, and they should be getting thanks instead of being attacked by people who couldn't make a pong game. I'm on to my 3rd play-through now and all 3 voice actors I've tried have done an amazing job, and the rest of the voice actors for the companions do a great job as well. The storyline is well made and the combat is far better than any previous Bioware game. I've played as a 2H Warrior, Necro mage, and now Archer rogue, all classes are fun to play. Graphics are obviously gorgeous, cutscenes occur with hardly any clipping (even the romance ones, which looked bad in DA:O). The ending came at a good pace and was set up for future DLC or game well.

I agree. This game isn't an RPG in the slightest. It's as much an RPG as World of Warcraft is. In fact, this game is literally single player mode of World of Warcraft.

I've lost count of the number of times I've seen the exact same statement made about DA:O.

At this point, I think Bioware should just focus on topics that actually have to do with bugs and suggestions instead of giving voices to people who say they are "big fans", yet never once offer any shred of valuable feedback.

The only feedback they've probably gotten from this tread is that this tread is a waste of time and offers nothing valuable in the slightest.

All you guys saying you could do better have no idea what it's really like.

As for me, I'm done. I've said my piece.

I've lost count of the number of times I've seen the exact same statement made about DA:O.

I remember those moments as well, and don't get me started on NWN2 either.

Age tends to tint people's perceptions Then, add onto that the lovely factor known as opinions - and on top of that opinions people can't even begin to see as nothing more than their own perspective and not indicative as the whole - and you get messes like this. I understand why people dislike the game, I myself am not touching it again until I hear about the first major patch hitting, but your opinion doesn't always equal truth. The same thing goes for the people who are giving it glowing praise.
